Capitol Hill Block Party (Seattle, WA; Jul. 25, 2009)

Capitol Hill Block Party (Seattle, WA; Jul. 25, 2009) Thank you Capitol Hill Block Party for re-enforcing my dislike of people and giving me another reason to be a cranky bitch. The thought of spending the day crushed amongst sweaty hipsters makes me cringe but sometimes it is a necessary evil en route to a musical wonderland. It was hot and dirty, girls fell down in their ridiculous shoes, people puked in the street and on other concert goers, many attendees were rude assholes, there was pushing and shoving and burning by cigarette, sunburns and extreme dehydration. But there was also jubilation, misting tents, glistening six packs, [...]

Deleted Scenes BYT Sessions
Washington D.C. has been doing quite dandy for the past few months. Yes, the local economy is one of the only places in the country expected to create jobs this year, but no, we don't concern ourselves with that on MUF. Part of the D.C. bright spot we care about comes in the form of Deleted Scenes . In fact, the foursome of Dan Scheuerman (vocals/guitar), Matt Dowling (bass/keyboard), Chris Scheffey (guitar) and Brian Hospital (drums), released their first full-length album, Birdseed Shirt , in early January. With the [...]

ATP-Release The Bats, Kentish Town Forum

I find myself outside The Kentish Town Forum at the ludicrously early hour of 6 O'clock? I'm trying to keep myself warm with slugs of whiskey from a small bottle being passed around. When we do finally gain entry to the venue we first have to make our way past the incredibly rude and unhelpful staff, but make it past we do and quickly descend the staircase in order to be one of the 500 people who are allowed entry to the lower floor in order to watch the spectacle that is Lightning Bolt. Rhode Island noise [...]

TVD First Date | ...with Deleted Scenes

Deleted Scenes is a four-piece indie rock band living in DC and Brooklyn, NY. We met as kids growing up in Maryland and have been playing together under various guises ever since. The songwriting, a collaboration between Dan Scheuerman (vocals/guitars) and Matthew "Fatty" Dowling (bass/organ/vibraphone/flex-o- tone), is strengthened by the undeniably precise musicianship of drummer Brian Hospital and guitarist Chris Scheffey. In 2005, we recorded a four-song EP with Billy Gordon (of J-Roddy Walston & the Business) in Baltimore which featured songs Dan wrote at the end of college, and which Fatty helped hone and arrange with various instruments. In [...]
