Iceland is a curious place, that's for sure. They're not a country with a huge population, yet we seem to have a fair number of noteworthy artists coming from there, be it a Bjork or a Sigur Ros. The best part is that there's very little you might call "traditional" about these artists - they don't seem particularly concerned with adapting to musical trends or even creating music that's less than innovative. I've not yet heard a plain-sounding artist that has come from Iceland. I'm mostly convinced that it has almost everything to do with living in a country of [...]

Icelandic act Seabear will release their new album "We built a fire" sometime around February/March 2009. Expect a two-song 7" preview to come in December.
was lange währt, wird endlich gut: seabear veröffentlichen im februar oder märz 2010 den heiß ersehnten nachfolger ihres großartigen debütalbums ...

Ο συνεσταλμένος Ισλανδός Sindri Mar Sigfusson άρχισε το Seabear σα μοναχικό παιχνίδι, για να καταλήξει με το εξαιρετικό the ghost that carried us away του '07 σε σεπτέτο . Όνομα- λογοπαίγνιο όπως και το σύνθημα born to be mild στο myspace [...]

[tweetmeme] At the beginning there was an atmosphere of breaking up. Whereas on the one hand face and body of his band Seabear (whose debut was released on Morr Music in August 2007) gained their outlines more clearly, there remained a deliberately left open game with the sounds on the other hand. The name for this game was soon found: Sin Fang Bous . Sigfusson took his time, and he let time blow through the tracks. Gravitation processes, drifts, accumulations. What began as a miniature - a voice, a guitar [...]
Stop it Sindri! I keep getting lost in your dewy eyes. Sindri Mar Sigfusson, bandleader of the whimsical pop-folk group Seabear, has just announced North American tour dates in support of his solo...
SIN FANG BOUS MAKES NORTH AMERICAN TOURING DEBUT WITH MÚM SFB SINGLE " CATCH THE LIGHT " AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD Icelandic experimental pop artist, Sin Fang Bous, aka Sindri Mar Sigfusson, is making his North American touring debut in late October with friends and collaborators Múm in support of his solo debut, Clangour (Morr Music). Sigfusson is the founder of Reykjavik-based pop-folk group Seabear, but his solo project, a shortened version of the singer's name, his teeth, and his conception of how is new music sounds, is a bit more of an eclectic venture. [...]
Sin Fang Bous will tour North America this fall with fellow Icelanders Múm, who just released Sing Along to Songs You Don't Know on Morr Music. While this is Múm's fifth album, Sin Fang Bous (the one-man project of Sindri Mar Sigfusson) has only released his debut. That album, Clangour , tickled the indie highbrow's fancy when it came out in February; NPR called it "curious and inviting." You may know Sigfusson as the former frontman of Seabear. This new alias finds him stacking instrumental layers over 8-bit samples and self-harmonized [...]

It is nineteenth century up-to-date with a vengeance. And yet, unless my senses deceive me, the old centuries had, and have, powers of their own which mere 'modernity' cannot kill." -Bram Stoker, Dracula Seabear - I Sing I Swim

tada tátà is a special musical proiect from Sweden, more exactly from Umeå/Falun. They represent a set of electro pop and folk, with songs mostly played on guitars and Ukulele. Listen to it and you'll notice that it's like music for toys. I know, it sounds a bit childish and blurry - it's probably just their toy piano and glockenspiel toying with my mind. They sound in fact very great and their lyrics and use of instruments make a very infectious and melodious indie pop sound. Take a look over on their [...]

He made it easy on us when he called his main band Seabear . For his solo incarnation Sindri Mar Sigfusson went back to basics and left his fans with the bill for some very expensive Icelandic lessons. They're worth it though given the charming evidence on 'Advert In Ives Garden', a marauding ball of cotton noise. The song depends on Sindri's vocal interrupts, chirps and general ADD like behaviour. For its part the music is as unruly as a 2 year old in a small room plastered with posters of the most wonderful toys imaginable. 'Clangour' was Sin [...]
Sigur Ros and Riceboy Sleeps have enabled us to look at Iceland in a new light. We saw ambient, oxygen-fresh instruments painting what we have come to see as Icelandic indie music. When Seabear came ... No related posts.

so i've done two volumes of this "songs featuring felines" thing, but i've never actually had a feline of any sort. well... tomorrow that will change. we're getting a kitten! i wasn't too keen on the idea at first, but i guess i'm starting to come around. i don't know what we're gonna call it yet, though i've got plenty of great (unappreciated) ideas. so i figured i should make a playlist to welcome the kitten home. unlike past volumes, several of these songs really don't feature felines too much at all... they are [...]
