Last seen speeding through the chrome and glitter Delorean inspired world of Neon Neon, Ms. Le Bon has packed up her silver suitcase hung up her moon boots and headed back to her roots. Anyone expecting an album of Roland drum machine influenced rejects will be sorely disappointed, the only whiff of eighties pomp and glamour to be found here is her fantastically ironic New Romantic surname… Instead her debut offering Me Oh My is a crooked take on the usual singer-songwriter fare. Folksy piano led tunes are interspersed with unexpected wonky Moog bleeps and [...]

BEST ALBUMS OF THE NOUGHTIES The daunting task of putting together something that you know lots of readers won't agree with is never easy, but then we thought you could always go make your own lists. At least we had the balls... So the 50s had rock n roll, the 60s had it's pop and folk, the 70s it's punk, disco and glam, the 80s it's pop, hip hop and hair rock, the 90s it's grunge, brit pop and dance music. It begs the question - what standout genre defines the [...]
Super Furry Animals [ MySpace ] recently played a gig at NYC's Highline Ballroom ( a near 1.5 hour show! ) captured by our good friend's at Baeble Musicthat had their most ardent supporters out of their mind - simply this was a show to see. If you weren't a fan but were dragged out to this show, you would have been a massive supporter by the time you left. Check out the entire concert "after the jump" [...]

Qualche sorpresa. Un gruppo inglese (i Libertines ) è stato scalzato dal podio da [...]
Music brag NME has crowned The Strokes' debut album 'This is It' as the best album of the decade. As the naughties come to a close NME (and a long list of music experts) voted for what they thought are the best 100 albums of the decade. With the concluding list spanning artists from Jay-Z to Johnny Cash and a few unexpected ones in between. The New York rockers beat off the likes of Primal Scream's 'XTRMNR' and 'Up The Bracket' by The Libertines to take the holy grail. Mike Skinner must be [...]

Music brag NME has crowned The Strokes' debut album 'This is It' as the best album of the decade. If that isn't enough encouragement for the boys to get cracking with their next album release then I don't know what is. As the naughties come to a close NME (and a long list of music experts) voted for what they thought are the best 100 albums of the decade. With the concluding list spanning artists from Jay-Z to Johnny Cash and a few unexpected ones in between. The New York rockers beat off the [...]
The folks over at Baeblemusic have posted a full concert from Super Furry Animals that was filmed in New York this past September. I don't think I've ever lost interest in a band as quickly as I did with Super Furry Animals - loved everything they did up to and including Rings Around The World , but haven't been impressed by anything they've done since. These things happen, I guess. They're still a good live band, though, as this show proves. Here's one of the songs from the show, "Crazy Naked Girls": [...]
Do you like Super Furry Animals ? Free Shows ? The answer to both of these should be a big hell yes! Then you like me will be very happy to know you can check out this amazing show that SFA did in NYC's Highline Ballroom earlier this year on the appropriate 9/11 in support of their latest album 'Dark Days, Light Years', but incorparating many of their big hits into the mix as well! If you have [...]

Here's the weird thing about the British: In general, they have much better taste in music than Americans. While we waste our time on interchangeable pop stars, they're singing the praises of Gossip's Beth Ditto. But their likes and dislikes are very particular - and, in general, they seem to love the kinds of semi-mainstream/semi-indie bands that become one-hit wonders or just never make a huge splash in the U.S. and then fairly quickly fall out of favor with the music-geek set. For example: NME has just named its #1 album of the '00s... and it's [...]
Bowerbirds play a tiny desk concert at NPR Music . Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys talks to the Guardian about his film, Separado! , which traces his family origins in Patagonia. The National Post profiles singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt . The Daily Swarm interviews legendary music producer Steve Albini. [...]
Bowerbirds play a tiny desk concert at NPR Music . The Guardian profiles comics legend Osamu Tezuka and his creation, Astro Boy. Tezuka's comics look outward to the world, too: his influences are decisively international. Individual frames, as McCarthy points out, reference Captain Nemo, Frankenstein – and isn't that Mickey Mouse's hat from Fantasia? The backgrounds are pure Fritz Lang, full of hovercars reminiscent of chrome-crusted American cars from the 1950s. Astro Boy himself is a reimagining of Pinocchio (who is, [...]
Pitchfork may have usurped everyone with their best-of-the-decade list, but the floodgates are open now and many other publications are printing their nominations. Today (Nov. 17), the NME has produced a list of the albums they consider to be the best of the decade, and there are very few surprises. The paper was one of the earliest champions of the Strokes when they emerged at the beginning of the decade, and Is This It is their predictable number 1 choice. The list is male dominated and indie-centric—Jay Z's The Blueprint [...]

Yet another list from a UK Music Magazine. NME always prided itself on being the cool UK Magazine, well since it changed its name from New Musical Express , and since Melody Maker disappeared along with Cliff Richard's shadows. So what's their list of the Best albums of the decade like? Keep reading. 50. MIA - Arular 49. Muse - Absolution 48. Walkmen - Bows and Arrows 47. Brendan Benson - Lapalco 46. Delgados - The Great Eastern This list starts so much better than many others. It's great to [...]

Nobody said it was easy , já dizia Chris Martin.
