![[GUEST POST] ROCK REPORT: DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS @ THE HOUSE OF BLUES IN MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/1944591_lg.jpg)
Autopsy IV: This post comes from a long time ninebullets.net reader, Adam Fenwick . It's nice to see a review of the Truckers. It's been so long since they've come to the Tampa Bay area I've almost forgotten what THE ROCK SHOW is like. Hope y'all enjoy. It had been more than a year since I last saw the best damn band on the planet, the Drive-By Truckers , live in concert, which is far too long. So, when my brothers girlfriend [...]

Been listening Tift's new album Buckingham Solo a lot this week it's available from Tift's website link Kungfunation ,the album is a limited edition one with Tift performing solo, it was recorded in Buckingham in November 2008 with Tift playing guitar or piano with the occasional harmonica flourish, the album showcases Tift's "pure" vocal, Morning is My Destination is particular high point for me, but the whole album is wonderful and her best to date in my opinion, the tracks are Tift originals with one cover, George Harrison's "I Live [...]
Here's the latest video from Patterson Hood and the Screwtopians (which includes members of both the Drive-By Truckers and Centro-Matic/South San Gabriel). With no solo dates currently on his schedule, Hood is now out on the road with the Drive-By Truckers who have a number of shows coming up this month. Included on the list of upcoming shows is a stop at [...]

This year will be my first venture out to Newport's annual Folk Festival , which has featured the likes of Bob Dylan, Howlin' Wolf, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash and hundreds more over the course of its 50 year history. This year's gathering marks that 50 year milestone and brings in some serious talent along the way, including Joan Baez (who was brought on as an unannounced guest by Dylan in 1959's inaugural show), Pete Seeger (one of the festival's original founders), The Decemberists, Neko Case, Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, Deer Tick, Josh Ritter, Elvis Perkins and Ben [...]
I have one album of Tift Merrit's, and it is Another Country from which this title song comes. It was released in 2008. Tift Merritt's other albums are on my wish list. Her web site: Tift Merritt MP3 File yousendit

This week's mix is bursting with fresh material - from Arctic Monkeys and Air to Q-Tip, Tiny Vipers, and beyond. The Repeater track from this session is undoubtedly Lupe Fiasco's "Shining Down". For good measure I've sprinkled in some Spiritualized, which I'm strangely addicted to right now for unknown reasons. The intro music is from the oft-overlooked House Of Love, a Creation band who combusted so delightfully in the face of sudden stardom as they hung out the back of their bus, burning 100 pound notes while on tour in the UK. Lovely. That said, "Love V" is a choice [...]

Playing catch up again with Drake , here's the first of an Independence Day Weekend double shot. -ed Drake's Take: New Releases 06.23.09 This week perfectly illustrates what makes this such a great year for music. Looking at it on the calendar some time ago, there was some excitement, but who knew there'd be so many year-end list candidates from this crop. The latest from The Future of the Left , Sunset Rubdown , Dinosaur Jr. , Foreign Born and Regina Spektor [...]

photos by Chris La Putt "Wow Tift Merritt's voice is even more spectacular & nuanced in RL than on my iPod. Tift Merritt is a critically acclaimed and some would say under appreciated singer/songwriter who has released three excellent studio albums so far. You can check out some highlights from those records as well as download an acoustic radio performance in a previous post on this blog right here . Tift's latest recording is the live album Buckingham Solo . For this record, Tift chose to release a solo performance from the Radcliffe Center, a converted church in Buckingham, England on November 29, 2008. Alternating between piano and guitar, Tift performed many songs from her last album [...]
