By Contributing Writer TIM EMMERICK The Ting Tings probably would not call themselves an indie band (considering they're signed with Columbia and had a No. 1 hit in the UK) but they do most of the same things that our beloved indie rockers do. For example, they make records, go on tour and dress like something that someone once ate at a street fair in Williamsburg. Now rumor has it the London based dance-pop duo has signed with Jay-Z 's filthy LiveNation/Rocafella hybrid label [...]
Because both of these acts are pretty big deals and because, as a result, you'd probably want to know when either of them announces tour dates, we figured we would kill two birds with one stone and detail both acts' newly announced dates in one fell swoop. So, here's the deal: Vampire Weekend , which will unveil its sophomore studio album due out on January 12th (get another preview, in the form of "Cousins", here ) are finally beginning to map out tour dates away from sunny California. Now included on the band's [...]

See the Austin-based band that The Onion calls "this year's hottest ticket" at Fun Fun Fun Fest next month. Listen & Re-Post! [MP3] The Laughing - "Runner": http://tinyurl.com/thelaughing -runner Recorded over the course of a near year, FEVER is the debut album by Austin band, The Laughing . Attack of the drones The London electro-pop trio have moved on massively from their first kitchen sink gig at a friend's house in the spring of 2008, to being among the first slew of bands announced for next year's SXSW festival. The band have been among the 'ones to watch' lists for some time. However, the limelight that shone on the majority of solo female electro acts (La Roux, Little Boots) in 2009 is set to radiate their way in 2010. The band - which describes their sound as "8-bit [...]

It's been a minute since the days of Aerosmith and Run-DMC reunited to reinvent "Walk This Way," but apparently the hip-hop and rock love affair still lives on, with the two genres continuing to make cozy bedfellows. It seems like a few of the big dogs in hip-hop are getting their Fidelity on and diversifying their portfolios. But this has nothing to do with 401k's, but rather the fact that a few of genre's heavyweights are taking stock in rock music these days. Last week news broke that Jay-Z had inked British rockers The Ting [...]
photos by Zack Roberts "She did a mix of her solo songs with Dresden songs, some old cabaret standards. A really sad song about a woman growing up and missing her mom now that shes gone. It made me cry. She did a funny song about a pirate too. It wasnt just a regular concert though. Amanda read snippets from her boyfriend Neil Gaiman's book titled Who Killed Amanda Palmer . Its a really cool book that I totally need to get. [...]
Brassy, The Point, Oxford, April 2000 Reviews at the time suggested Brassy got where they did (which was nowhere, really) because singer Muffin Spencer was Jon's sister. Not so. For instance: This one sounds like the Ting Tings, which suggests Jay-Z would have signed them, if he wasn't busy making The Blueprint . [...]

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive With the news that Jay-Z has signed the Ting Tings to his Roc Nation, rumors are swirling he wants to work with the British duo . If they do end up collaborating, it will be under the direction of Katie White and Jules De Martino, as De Martino says they're determined to produce their new record themselves. "We produced our first record ourselves and we're gonna be producing this record ourselves as well," De Martino [...]

Dificil elegir [...]

First up, we couldn't resist that horrible headline. Now on to the news: Jay-Z has signed the Ting Tings to his Roc Nation label, and as a welcome gift, he wants to collaborate with the U.K. duo on their next album. Reports the Daily Star : "Jay is hoping to lend his production skills to some of the new material. The Staccato rhythmic style of The Ting Tings sits well with what he does best, so that was the attraction. Jay can make them one of the biggest British bands [...]

After all that Weezer news , we didn't really need that much more proof that every famous person ever, knows one other. But some more came anyway. The Ting Tings have apparently signed a deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation company, joining the likes of Wale and J. Cole, who might or might not know The Ting Tings exist. And apparently Hov will now be doing some production work for their next album. Guess he really couldn't get that song out of his head after they played it at Nets games. (Via: Daily [...]
Back with another Friday Five, just some random goodness from the interwebs, enjoy, and leave your best in the comments, peace! The Who Playing Super Bowl Halftime Show This week it was announced that the greatness of The Who (or what is remaining of the Who) will be playing Super Bowl halftime this year . We will see if Roger Daltrey can match the Boss' crotch slide, big shoes (or whatever) to fill there. Also, side note, as seems to be a trend lately, rumblings [...]
Jay-Z's latest musical empire, the Live Nation-fronted Roc Nation, has announced its most recent signing: British pop-rockers the Ting Tings, who are hard at work on their sophomore album. Jigga reportedly has plans to work with the group on the album, which would be at least the second time Jay has linked up with a corny British band (Coldplay being the other confirmed incident). The Salford band have signed to the rapper's label...
While dreams of a collaboration with MGMT may have proved to be a letdown , Jay-Z has not given up his hopes of taking over, or at least severely influencing the world of indie music. Case in point his recent decision to sign The Ting Tings to his record label, Roc Nation . Yep, the U.K. based duo of Katie White and Jules De Martino now call home the same place as J. Cole, Sugababes, and Wale. What's more, the rapper will reportedly produce the duo's forthcoming sophomore effort, which will of course [...]
Today is my birthday. I am a fan of Yo Gabba Gabba . I've also grown pretty fond of a band that they feature pretty regularly on the show, an English duo called The Ting Tings . Check out this clip from the great show on Nick Jr. where the band performs a special birthday song for Brobee. Because listening and dancing to music is... awesoooome ! [...]
