I'm about to start Saturday's lineup by blowing right through a cool half dozen uncool bands. I know it may make me look like I don't, you know, like anything ever... but I look at it this way (and I'm pretty sure I repeat this mantra every year)... would I pay US American dollars to see any of these bands perform on their own? Not in this recession, bitches! Saturday begins with Frank Turner and the always reliable Irish Music/Punk Rock blend... which is fine when you're drinking Guinness at Molly Malone's... [...]
"Written In Reverse" Music Video Spoon 's first single off Transference now has a music video. Instead of using the studio cut for "Written In Reverse", the band opted to use a live recording that gives the video a truer and more realistic feel to it. Capturing Spoon's energy and swagger, this music video works on so many levels, and excites me for the two Seattle gigs later this spring. Stream :: Spoon's new album Transference here . [...]

Who : Hotel St. George Location : San Diego, CA RIYL : White Rabbits, Death Cab for Cutie, Cold War Kids Thoughts : First time listening to Hotel St. George they sounded like a very standard indie rock outfit. They were completely unoffensive, they stuck to basic song structures, and they sounded okay doing those things, but nothing really stuck out. That was until the song "That's Why I Drink Every Night" came on. It immediately perked my ear up and not just for because of my [...]
White Rabbits are playing Coachella 2010 on Saturday, April 17th.

Photographer: Kris Mathews Website: here It looks like Blood Red Shoes more than lived up to the "special guests" tag here. Kris got some fantastic shots from all the bands though. Here's a few of our favourites, plus the entire set as a slideshow! [...]

Frank Yang Something of a cold snap hit Toronto yesterday, so I was fortunate to have an invite to what was promised to be a hot and sweaty dance party at the Smiling Buddha bar, soundtracked by Woodhands showcasing their just-released second album Remorsecapade . Granted, it'd have probably been just as warm if I'd just stayed home, but experience has taught me that the odds of dance parties breaking out in my living room tend to be close to nil. Last week was filled to the brim, and indeed, overflowing with praise for Sockets Records as they celebrated five successful years and pushed on into the future. Even I took a moment to sit down and explore this District aural victor. But stepping back, and simply allowing your head to swivel, just a bit, in either direction, will yield a harvest of other, in many different ways, equally deserving labels. The first of which popped into my brain was Fan Death , a young outfit that already has several quality releases, and [...]
The White Rabbits played a sold-out hometown show at the Bowery Ballroom on Sunday night, with supporting acts Caveman and Glass Ghost. The raw energy of the show was remarkable, engaging the enthusiastic crowd and building toward their frenzied rendition of "Percussion Gun." My photo set didn't turn out so well, but here are a couple [...]
The White Rabbits always wow me, and their sold out show at the Bowery Ballroom made me feel like a teenager at my first concert. All of their tunes are highly recommended, and you can purchase them on iTunes or download some for free from RCRD LBL . Photos are on behalf of RCRD LBL . Happy Monday beautiful guys and gals! I hope everyone had a very eventful and fabulous weekend full of love, harmony and the arts. I know that my weekend was full of all of those things plus Bad Rabbits. After a really stressful day at work on Saturday, I headed to Manhattan to see one of the most original bands I have heard in a long time, Bad Rabbits. Straight out of Boston, Bad Rabbits brings something to the music scene that could be known as a combination of 90s dance [...]
photos by Paul Birman "Thanks to everyone who came to the BV Haiti benefit last night. You made it really special." - St. Vincent "St. Vincent and Justin Vernon performing together was easily one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen/heard." - Steph Lo Wyatt Cenac was funny. Then came Britt Daniel (of Spoon) with [...]
Our brilliant guest blogger, Britt Lundborg, attended last night's gig and offers a full report! White Rabbits really whipped it out. And by whipped it out, I mean flew into a full-on furor at Bowery Ballroom last night. Entirely sold out, the room thrashed nearly as much as the Brooklyn-based sextet did on-stage. Super tight [...]

On Thursday night, we were lucky enough to get to stop in at Mercury Lounge and see Spoon deliver an uber-intimate set for around 250 fans. Suffice it to say that (especially as the band's popularity continues to grow) it was a real treat to see the band in such a tiny room. Moreover, it does a pretty damn good job at reminding you just how good Spoon is at recreating their on album sound in the live environment. Despite the fact [...]

After Thursday night's Mercury Lounge show, Britt Daniel of Spoon stuck around to do an in-store at SoundFix Records in Brooklyn. Our pal Chris Goldberg reported back to us, and had this to say: "The crowd started lining up a little before 5 PM for the 7 PM show. By 7 it was around the block and not everyone could get in (the record store is TINY). Britt showed around 6 for a quick sound [...]

Since there seem to be so few recounts of Falls (with the exception of facebook promoted blog, The Vine) I am putting in my two bits for what definitely feels like my last Falls. Not due to Falls sucking but due to me sucking. More accurately, I feel really old. As in, I-went-to-bed-at-10.30-on-the- first-night old! Let me go back a few steps for those overseas or who just don't know what Falls is. It's a music festival comparable to Woodstock. A bunch of music lovers (and hippies) camp out, get drunk/happy and love life and music, watching performers from all [...]

Recommended Show: SUNDAY, JANUARY 24, 2010 LADY GAGA & SEMI-PRECIOUS WEAPONS @ RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL 1260 Sixth Avenue New York, NY 10020 $49.50, 7:30PM This is actually the last night in town for Lady Gaga and Semi-Precious Weapons at Radio City Music Hall. Trying to explain why Lady Gaga is worth going to isn't really necessary. She's one of the hottest acts to hit the music scene in recent years, so this is a no-brainer. Lycaon Pictus, SSPS, & The Totallys @ Glasslands White Rabbits, Glass Ghost, [...]
