this could easily turn into a uffie/yelle commodified sass excursion in calculated cliche but the main melodic drive demands serious consideration. forget coy tongue in cheek play. the ideas are earnest and prone to risk when executed poorly. these guys on the other hand, have nothing to worry about. sleigh bells - crown on the ground

Here at FS headquarters, we like some screaming guitars. The combination of roaring amplifiers and good looking women is heavenly - French rock brought us Dolly , Manu , Vive la Fete and, earlier, Les Calamités . Plastiscines is an update of the latter, featuring four gorgeous women, singing in French and making music inspired by Ramones, Strokes and Libertines. On their new (second) album About Love, Katty Besnard and her friends sing mostly in English. Shame, for now they sound like Shampoo - a novelty act. The new cd sports [...]

Le Corps Mince de Francoise The first time I paid attention to this trio was when I heard they were slated to play the Jean Charles de Castelbajac 's catwalk - Monsieur always knows where it's at. Le Corps Mince de Francoise on the Castelbajac catwalk The super gimmicky track titles of their first couple of tracks they released ('Cool and Bored', 'Ray-Ban Glasses') made me shy away from Le Corps Mince de Françoise [...]

One Love at Tank is no more. They've packed up their stuff, waited near some hot girls to get cab and ventured across town to their new home; The Bourbon . Will they be undone by the toxic kebabs, cheap tattoos and 24/7 live clamidia shows of Kings Cross? Probably. But hell, isn't that what weekends in Sydney are all bout!? Judging by the longevity of the One Love franchise to date I'd guess that they've got these things accounted for and will be extending their new lease a few times over. With [...]

Don't start with me on the pic above . (Okay, Christian Bale is on GQ Magazine 's June Issue, check it out). On a more serious note, I may be pushing the envelope here. But really, this forthcoming months I'll be having the tightest schedule of all and seeing how things are going, a daily or (even weekly) post is out of the question. So I'm doing an advance Monthly Playlist of the best tracks for June. I've added a bunch of remixes and covers as well that I found oddly interesting. Just goes to show you should never [...]

Prepare to hear a lot about Ellie Goulding as she could very well be the next solo-pop-electro songstress to take the blogosphere by storm. Nipping at the high-heels of others such as Annie, Fever Ray, Yelle, and La Roux; Ellie Goulding contributes cutesy-vocals to simple, pop hooks which is a sure-fire American Apparel hit. Need proof? Check out the vid for her latest single, "Under the Sheets" And if that isn't enough, take a listen to one of the (soon to be numerous) remixes: [...]
Check it!!! It's the debut mixtape from some of the coolest kids around, Chiddy Bang! With some of the freshest sounds we've heard in a long time, "The Swelly Express" tells the story of Chidera Anamege & Xaphoon Jones, two kids from Philly, and "their many boring trips on the Chinatown bus (they have wifi now!) on the way to meet 'big wigs' in NYC." The samples on the mixtape are all over the place and completely insane - from Mary Poppins, to Sufjan Stevens, Yelle, Passion Pit, Joe Strummer and the Mescarleros, MGMT, Belle & Sebastian - it's fucking [...]
This week's video of the week, comes a few days late, but is quite the remix. A Cause Des Garçons, by Yelle, remixed by TEPR. You can check it out to your right, or by clicking this link . Ever since a friend of mine linked me to this video, I haven't been able to get this track out of my head. With beats bouncing back and forth within my skull, I'd say this is one remix that we can file under "successful". Yelle - "A Cause Des Garçons (TEPR Remix)"

I re-discovered the power of the radio waves last night and in turn have found my new guilty pleasure. Ke$ha. The electro/pop songstress popped onto the scene with her single Tik Tok about a month ago. She's collaborated with the likes of Flo Rida on his song Right Round , The Veronica's song This Love and with Katy Perry on her song I Kissed a Girl . I read somewhere that Ke$ha is like Lada Gaga without restraint. I don't know how you could say Lady Gaga or Ke$sha has [...]

Just a quick post tonight, thanks to everyone who came down on Friday, it was big fun. These two went down a treat. Yelle - A Cause Des Garcons (Punks Jump Up Remix) David Morales - Needin' You (mp3s hosted at fileden in 128, image courtesy of grooveeffect.com)

This always happens to me. I hear about a new song, find it on the internet, tweet it and then it's sent to me. Go figure. Well, original tweet deleted. Here I am writing about Leighton Meester's new single Somebody to Love and it's pretty awes if I do say so myself. It's a really good example of the nu disco/electronic pop fusion coming to mainstream American music. It also has a very French feel - think "Yelle" but smoother. [...]

The Twelves : 1. They're from Brazil 2. Look at the setup in the picture, it's beautiful. 3. They make the best synth poppy electro you can find out there 4. They look like really nice guys 5. They're bearded (always a plus) 6. They make great mixes, so I assume they're great DJs. 7. They've made a remix that makes every college jizz their pants when they hear it 8. Both M and I like them so you should like them, so you [...]
