This is an ever changing and (hopefully) expanding list of some of the songs I have mentioned before in this blog or simply stuff I have found somewhere on the web that I find interesting, but have no time to write about. All files have been found somewhere in cyberspace (and NONE of them have uploaded by me, so I cannot help you with any requests you might have - just keep returning and something new might pop up), so they will be available until the artists, record labels, fans, whatever decide to remove them. Thanks to a few readers, [...]

Bryan and Lorn catch Calvin Harris doing a DJ Set at Club Vanguard in Hollywood, CA on Saturday 09/12/2009 Calvin Harris had an excellent DJ set the night we saw him and Vanguard has some of the best sound in Los Angeles. These factors came together for a total party! Calvin recently released a new album called "Ready for the Weekend" which has a departure from the simple dancy pop tunes of his first album "I Created Disco." The new album has a [...]

A couple of weeks ago saw And So I Watch You From Afar play the final ever secret show in the basement of AU Magazine . From these photos by Richard W. Crothers it doesn't look as if it was that secret. The gig was eventually shut down by the PSNI, although they did let the band finish 'Set Guitars To Kill' first. The band are on tour to the end of the year, and we really do mean on tour - see them at: 22 Sep - Marquee, NORWICH 23 Sep [...]

My obsession with this thing called music started at university. Up until that point my cassette collection had contained an unhealthy number of works by European dance legends 2 Unlimited and Maxx . Then came Freshers' Week and my first introduction to live music. It was loud, it was beautiful, it was B*Witched . All four of them were miming but oddly that didn't seem to offend me as my feet danced the most perfect Irish jig in unison with these goddesses off the telly. Surely, but slowly, my music tastes evolved [...]
Damon & Naomi I arrived at Cafe OTO shortly before opening act Amor de Dias took to the stage. The venue was already fairly crowded so I shuffled in and found a spot near the front but tucked in behind a pillar. Most of the folk around me were sitting so I felt a bit conspicuous but held my ground, reasoning to myself that if I wasn't obstructing their view the pillar would be. Amor de Dias is the new project of Alasdair MacLean of The Clientle and Lupe Núñez-Fernández [...]

I've featured Joe Pug here on these pages before . He's a local Chicagoan and sings these Americana-folk songs that have probably some of the best, modern lyrics I know of. I've been hiding from this here blog for a couple of days, not sure exactly why. It seems to be full of things I feel I have to talk about, in terms of reviews promised and artists wanting mentioned. I hate when it gets that way instead of being a place where I'm excited to sit down and spout off about what's turning me on. I [...]

Regular readers will be aware that I've occasionally mentioned my affection for Raith Rovers FC . The team earned promotion last season to the Scottish First Division, which means we are just one more promotion away from the regular games against the big city teams like Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs , Dundee United and Aberdeen and a handful of others in the Premier League. Today is the biggest game of the season so far as we head 10 miles across the county of Fife to take on our fiercest rivals [...]
Since we last heard from Enter Shikari , the U.K. based post-hardcore outfit has released its sophomore studio effort, Common Dreads , and played sold-out shows in nine different countries. Showing no signs of slowing down, the foursome has added a whole slew of upcoming engagements, which include headlining dates in both the U.S. and U.K. and a support stint on The Prodigy 's European tour. What's more, Enter Shikari has also announced a partnership with DGC/Interscope , which will result in a more proper U.S. release for Common Dreads in early [...]

I am not sure if I emphasised enough how gutted I was when De Rosa split earlier this year, having only really 'discovered' them at the start of the year, it was like getting a new toy for Christmas then breaking it on Boxing Day. Gutted as I was to hear of their demise, it was good to hear that lead singer Martin Henry would continue to make music, of which I have been keeping a keen ear listening to any demos he posted on his Myspace (sounding good it is too). Now he's announced some additional dates to [...]
