Henry Rollins has contributed an editorial to Vanity Fair with his thoughts on the Tea Party Movement which has become one of the major causes of the right wing in the United States. Henry titled the editorial "We're Gonna Have a Tea Party Tonight!" Some choice words from the article: Then there's Sarah Palin , who, egged on by other intellectually malnourished "real Americans," has said so many startlingly stupid things in the last few days, the comedic furnaces won't be cooling down any time soon! She's a dynamo of [...]
I think most guys will relate to this video. You know how it is: just when you think you're over a breakup, she chases you away from band practice, forcing you to leap from an overpass. Then someh... Continue reading "Watch: Cocky Americans -- "Romance Tried To Kill Me"" >

Link: http://www.newlilwayne.com/201 0/02/pictures-lil-waynes-going -away-party/ Lil Wayne is going to jail for doing something that black people/ rappers do. I am not sure if it has to do with guns, theft, drugs, or tax evasion, but he had some sort of 'sweet ass party' before he is shipped away. I feel happy for him, since he got to enjoy the New Orleans Saints ' Super Bowl victory with a group of his closest bros. I wonder if his network of [...]

British bands can get away with a kind of lyrical austerity that Americans probably could also, I suppose, but it just seems to make for a better fit when they do it: The Maccabees: No Kind Words.mp3
Apropos of absolutely nothing, I though I'd share this lovely moment from a story in the January issue of MOJO I just chanced upon. November 2007: The Foo Fighters are in Canada, supporting Bob Dylan on the latter's Modern Times tour. [Head Foo and former Nirvana drummer] Dave Grohl is in his dressing room when he gets a message that Mr. Dylan wants to see him. "So I walk out," says Grohl, "and he's standing like a silhouette in a dark corner -- black leather boots, [...]

All the diehard New Order fans who have spent the last several years in a state of constant candlelight vigil awaiting another album (advice: Don't hold your breath) were given a new reason to get up in the morning when New Order frontman Bernard Sumner debuted his new band, Bad Lieutenant , who released their debut album, Never Cry Another Tear , last October. Those faithful followers - not to mention the rest of the world at large - must have done a double take upon first hearing, as the album leaves the electro-dance New Order sound behind [...]
Last nite, I watched the Super Bowl, because I am currently working in a mainstream office environment, and I secretly feel insecure when every1 else is talking abt a mainstream event, yet I don't have a progressive opinion to 'share' that goes over every12 heads. The Super Bowl seems like a more fulfilling viewing event than awards shows like the Oscars or Grammys or the BCS championship because you have 2 forces/teams 'battling' to be the champion, instead of just voter opinions and computer algorithms. Did u have a 'Super Bowl party' with chips, dips, meats, brewskies, [...]
You lucky Americans will get 4 chances to see the Norwegian geniuses in April...
Early on in youth sports after we learn the purpose of shaking hands in the team line & sportsmanship, we pick up the next lesson of never pinning a loss on the back of one team member. There will always be heroes and oftentimes obvious goats. But we're taught never to single out one play or player as the cause for a loss. Forget the fact that had the Colts won, Peyton Manning * would have been celebrated, his every word and action further venerated. We're not supposed to talk about that. Don't [...]
Ad touchdown gets nostalgic Rihanna referred to the Super Bowl as a "big, walking music video", and the sporting and advertising highlight of the year didn't disappoint on the music front in 2010. The Who's performance during half time - a lucrative slot for any band - has been both praised and panned by critics - with one citing it as "an act of terrorism on US soil". However, even if the viewing audience is equally split it will still mean the band have appealed to at least 50M possible music buyers. [...]

Randy Weston radiates greatness. The legendary jazz musician possesses a rare combination of gentle grace and regal bearing. Even people who have no idea that the 83-year-old was apprenticed by Thelonious Monk, was produced by Duke Ellington and was a collaborator with the likes of Langston Hughes and Charles Mingus surely recognize that Weston exudes a powerful energy. It was all I could do to keep from bowing in his majestic presence during the hour I spent with Weston Thursday morning at the American Jazz Museum . Other obligations prevented me from attending [...]

For all you Americans, I'm sure you know that today is Superbowl Sunday. The biggest sporting event of the year! I'm about to watch my boy Peyton rip shit up. After the Superbowl I'm going to be ripping shit up myself at the Mandrake in Los Angeles. Those who came last month saw the Hip-Hop party we threw down, and this week will be even crazier, with more live performances and more crazy dance music. I recently got reconnected with one of my favorite dance albums from the last decade, Basement Jaxx's 2001 release, Rooty . The [...]
So between a blizzard of insane proportions striking the east coast,my real life entering an incredibly busy period, and the usual malaise of things getting in the way, I've been derelict in my blogging duties. Since I have several hours now where I can sit and take care of all the things that have fallen by the wayside these past few days, I'm gonna use this time to try to catch up on stuff I haven't gotten to talk about lately. First, I've begun a tradition where once a year when there's significant snow fall, I offer up [...]
Baptists from Idaho group "Haitian Orphan Rescue Mission" were detained in Haiti after trying to bus 33 children into the Dominican Republic without any proper paperwork. Their plan was to scoop up 100 children and bus them into the Dominican Republic. Social Affairs Minister Yves Cristallin told reporters the Americans were suspected of taking part in an illegal adoption scheme. In Haiti, adoptions have been suspended amid the chaos due to fears that parentless/lost childern are vulnerable to child trafficking. The group's leader, Laura Silsby, [...]

The DreamWorks project, based on the Platinum Studios Comics graphic novel written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley, will star Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde. Thought this week would be a good one to do an album run down for. I'm pretty busy at the moment so I haven't got time to do full reviews for them all, sadly. This Monday there was so many worth mentioning so I'm giving them all a quick run down because none deserve to go unmentioned. Hope you're having a good week, and that at least a couple of these are soundtracking it for you. ALBUM OF THE WEEK: First Aid Kit - The Big Black And The Blue [...]
Apparently, America is full of people who love porn on the internet. Now who would have believed that? Buuut , what we have here is a statistical representation displayed on the skin of a young lady. And if they used these in high schools and colleges, we would be a nation of scholars. Pervs, but scholars. I don't think we, as Americans, are alone though. My evidence would point to the Australian banker caught eyeballing female images while his colleague was being interviewed by the news. Model Miranda Kerr , one [...]
