What Kind Of Breeze Do You Blow? has been one of the better blog bands of the year, surprising us with a sound that can more or less characterize the year: transition from the hard stuff to softer tunes, but still wanting to keep what felt so good about the recent dance scene. Fortunately for us, WKOBDY? is not just blog music, they will probably start making a bigger splash soon with the release of their EP on Brilliantine by mid-December. To start the ball rolling, they left us with a track with dramatic razor [...]
The Blow is the moniker of Portland, Oregon-based Khaela Yvonne Maricich. "True Affection," is one of my favorite songs by The Blow from her album Paper Television (2006). This album is Maricich's first collaboration with Jona Bechtolt, aka. YACHT, another Oregon-based musician. Jona Bechtolt is an electronic musician along the lines of Discovery. The Blow typically create songs with thin electronic instrumentation, emphasizing Maricich's childlike voice. On "True Affection" the beat is... Read more at www.SFCritic.com

I ain't gonna blow it up but if things go the way they look like they might, cats is gonna be REAL surprised at what label Pill eventually signs to. I might not be known for gossip but I've called some major stories correctly and EARLY in the past and not gotten the credit, so pay attention! Try it before you buy it: [...]

A couple of weeks ago, we went to New Orleans for a friend's wedding. We had a chance to see the World War II museum and the fancy new wing that Tom Hanks helped contribute with and the new theater much cooler than an Imax (it's in 4D!). The picture from above is taken from the museum, and before the trip, I had no idea there was a WWII museum. I guess Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are teaming up again to retell the story of the US invading the Pacific during [...]
Ever wondered where Tronik Youth found those "Disco Sucks" chants on their new 12 Inch? Here you go. Apparently some people REALLY hated Disco back then. This is a collection of News coverage of this weird "campaign" taking place in a baseball stadium. "Blow it up!"
I listen to a lot of music. A lot of music. I can't speak for AIV or Romeosidvicious, but the list of records I'd like to review for Ninebullets is about three miles long, and that's before I've sorted through anything that's been submitted for review (AIV handles the bulk of that, so his workload is exponentially larger). Point is, sometimes a record slips through the cracks. In the interest of trying to cover a few more bases, and inspired by AIV's recent 140-character Twitter reviews, I introduce to you a new [...]
Friday! Quick-hit thoughts of the week! QUICK-HIT THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK! 1. Whatever Brains - Gross Urge (mp3) ( buy ) BAM! Whatever Brains ( myspace ) is a Raleigh, North Carolina band called WHATEVER BRAINS. That automatically qualifies them to be AWESOME, but this song - along with a lot of the rest of their Trim-Jeans and/or Gross Urge Plus Ten CD-R - qualifies them to be DOUBLE AWESOME. I'm more comfortable thinking of them as traditional lo-fi punk than as [...]
Wiley's Chew Fu produced banger. I've been on this in the club for a minute, I can't wait for it to be huge (pause). Take That drops 28th December on iTunes and all good remaining record stores. Download Wiley - Take That This is from the press release: 'Anybody that thinks I can't do it anymore better step right back and take that' is Wiley's opening salvo on his new club and radio heater. Wiley's been accustomed [...]

Photo by Harlz_ In 2005, Australian rock outfit Children Collide made their debut with We Three, Brave & True . Featuring the brilliant "We Are Amphibious", the six-track EP didn't so much announce the group's arrival as it did kick the door down. In 2006, the equally impressive Glass Mountain Liars EP followed, & now the band is elated to present their full-length debut, The Long Now . The 1st single, "Social Currency", is a barnstorming disco-political frenzy that observes the perils [...]
Sweden's Heart-Sick Groans has made a new video, and what a lovely video it is! The song in this video is "Three Day Blow" from Heart-Sick Groans upcoming release, the seven song EP "Gentlemen, If you aint right, get right" . It's directed by Henric Wallmark , - one of the members in the band. Drawn, cut-out and performed by Mads Peter Brandstrup Jensen's class at the Drawing Academy at the Animation Workshop, Viborg, Denmark. Enjoy!

As fads come and go within the constantly evolving genre which is house certain sounds seem to have a certain sustainability, namely these sounds being made by top end music makers whos production skills are able to create tracks with a crisp, clear and none to generic sound. Gramophonedzie is one of these guys, hailing from Serbia the guy has been around for many years now and permorming under mainly aliases continues to go from strength to strength and even bigger things [...]
Monolith, the Morrison, Col. festival that began in 2006, posted an announcement to their website this morning asking for financial assistance. The announcement says that, if unable to find sponsors and/or buyers among Monolith's fans, then the festival will no longer be able to be held. The news is a blow for indie music, as Monolith was a terrific cap to the summer festival season. The post on Monolith's site says that the poor economy and the festival's proceedings interrupted by rain contributed to the difficult financial situation. They have even been unable to [...]

I've been seriously preoccupied with some music aggregators that just blow my mind. I'm not even sure how long MixCloud or SoundCloud have been around, but they've provided me with so much great music since I discovered them through Twitter several weeks ago. Sharing music online is not new, and these sites aren't new either, but for our downtempo crowd, these two sites offer radio, mixes and original music with a great selection that meet our listening preferences. MixCloud offers mixes, streams and downloads from radio stations and artists you can follow, and SoundCloud [...]
's Made a sick remix of Eastern Jam, it's funky, it's jackin', it's what I like and I hope you like too. Don't waste more time and blow this beauty over your speakers! Chase & Status - Eastern Jam (Kyle Watson Re-rub)
We respect the work that Spin Magazine does. We respect the good, hardworking journalism that's created in-depth features and profiles, which add to the greater lexicon of music criticism. Plus, they're one of the few that are still around! However, in a move that we find giggle-worthy and that is bound to stir up a storm of annoyed music geeks, the magazine has buried deep into the annals of history and unearthed the truths behind music's greatest myths. The list of 16 ranges from the near blasphemous (Myth: Radiohead can do [...]

Spoon | "The Underdog" | 2007 Perhaps it isn't surprising - or, isn't supposed to be - that the most fun song Spoon released this decade features uplifting Motown-esque horns. The lyrics, too, are notably upbeat with a concise message of not giving up, laying down in the face of difficulty or, most importantly, being (or becoming) social garnish. The song's lyrics are quotable ad infinitum, whether he's describing what perfection is to most people ("it can't all be wedding cake" and "it may not be photo op") or the desire to remove one's self from "the middle" [...]
![[UP & COMING] Zach Moore : On The Mix](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2136718_lg.jpg)
A native of Ohio and San Francisco resident of 15 years, Zach Moore was introduced to house music in 1999 and began DJing in 2003. Today he's known in the San Francisco dance community for his affiliations with two legendary Burning Man-based collectives, The Deep End/Rock Bottom (since 2006) and The Space Cowboys (beginning January 2010). While it was house music that launched Zach's career, it is the combination of tech funk and breakbeat that sustain it. Among his main influences Zach counts Elite Force, Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, The Plump DJs and The [...]
