by The WZA'd (ATX)EyehategodWhen: Friday, November 6th, 2009Where: Emo's Inside, Austin, TXWith: Kegcharge, Mammoth Grinder, Curse the HeavensAfter the Eyehategod show, I got home and looked at my shirtless self in the mirror. Bruises covered my ribs and sides. There was a dark spot under my right eye where my face collided with the back of somebody's head. With the arm-band I had on for Fun Fun
La segunda, This is Jonna Lee [...]

The Sons of Atom are a new, driving three-piece rock band that has yet to play a show. Luckily, we have a video of them rocking out in their basement. Hopefully soon, SOA will grace a Madison stage so eager fans can come out and rock the cock out. The Sons of Atom include members of Digibot , The Low Czars , The Kites , and The Outtatoons. On a side note, I've always loved the dynamic of a three-piece punk band. There is no [...]

(Editor's note: today's interview comes to us with permission from Cleveland Bachelor , where the Q&A was originally posted. Yesterday was one of those work days that you dread, meeting after meeting after meeting. From the moment I got to work until nearly 4 PM, I was shuffling from one room to another, trading brain cells for increased self-loathing every additional minute. Mere seconds after finally sitting down in my chair back in my dank big boy office, the alarm on my phone went off. I looked at it, wondering what it was I was reminding myself [...]

Toronto - If there's ever been a neighborhood that has risen to prominence in the past few years, it's definitely Brooklyn. I guess in actuality, they are a city. Anyways, it's quite impossible to deny that Brooklyn has produced some of the best music in the past few years and I guess finally some media has noticed. Check out NY Mags top 40 songs that define Brooklyn. 40 Light Asylum - "Angel Tongue" 39 Oakley Hall - "All the Way Down" 38 Here We Go Magic - "Fangela" 37 Apache Beat - "Tropics" [...]

French alt. rock sensations, Phoenix, have been one of the most talked about bands of 2009. Their brilliant fourth studio album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix has already seen the release of two outstanding singles: 1901 and personal favourite of mine, Lisztomania. I've heard very good things about the band's live show, although recently I've heard murmurings of the ongoing ill health of lead singer Thomas Mars which has caused a couple of below par performances this year, thankfully tonight wasn't one of these, quite the opposite in fact. Tonight's support came from Brooklyn natives Chairlift, my only knowledge [...]

Photo by Chris Sullivan The Arches in Glasgow is a spectacular venue. What was derelict space beneath Glasgow's Central Station is now 65,000 square feet of space transformed into various bars, cafes and stages. However, the main stage itself still retains a great deal of its charm. Bricked arched walls with pipes running across the centre of the ceiling make for undeniably classic touches that make it feel like some alternate version of the opening of Blade – like everyone is suddenly going to start gorging on [...]

Early Sunday morning on October 25th, the van carrying members of Sugar Red Drive was involved in a serious accident near Kalamazoo, MI. The vehicle hit a guardrail, spun out, and flipped over. Miraculously, no one was killed. Bass player Dave Alexander suffered the most serious injuries, breaking his arm, dislocating his elbow, and also breaking his thumb. He underwent surgery in a Kalamazoo hospital Sunday afternoon. Incredibly, the other 3 band members and tour manager only suffered bruises and abrasions. [...]

"Pink and black and blue, for you." My television viewing has greatly increased recently. It's a pure addiction.. Gossip Girl, The Office, The Hills (only with Kristin Cavalari), and 90210. Shows like Gossip Girl even have the most up to date indie music. Last episode even skillfully used Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zero's "Home." However, the ridiculous subject matter of the show does not make the music as interesting to analyze as the ones in commercials. Those 30 seconds you're already annoyed because your favorite show is on a commercial makes [...]

Austin's awesome Riverboat Gamblers were an amazing find at last year's SXSW . Fueled with an incredible punk rock spirit, they're a band that would make even Johnny Rotten's trademark scowl turn upside down. Sadly, one of their guitarists, Ian Mcdougall, had a pretty serious accident last Saturday, when a car hit him on his bike. He sustained some rather serious injuries and is now in recovery. As is the case with hospital stays these days, Mcdougall's bills are astronomical so the band set up a PayPal account for donations. Get well soon Ian! [...]
