Mmmm mmm mmmmmmmmmm. Merrill Beth Nisker, or as we all know her, Peaches, the foul-mouthed, androgynous, dick, tits, and all, has wowed the Montréal crowd once again at the Métropolis. Sporting capes, donning skin colored skin tight jump suits, and a flashing clit, Peaches is true to her own hype. She fuckin' rocks. With her cock out. For real. I am quite surprised that dildos did not make an appearance throughout the show. At least fake boobies did! Hooorah fake boobies! But first, a lady quite deserving of being a Peaches opener...Amanda Blank! Live [...]

By Tom Huizenga Conductor Marin Alsop ( Tracey Brown ) Let's face it, the world of classical music is fairly far off the radar screen for most people in this country. Still, [...]
Filed under: What's That Song? 'End of All Time,' by Stars of Track and Field If you've been following ' Grey's Anatomy ' at all this season, you've probably noticed some big changes. There's been the merging of two hospitals -- and with it an influx of new characters who are carefully being written into more prominent roles as the plot line advances. Seattle Grace Hospital's morale has been low, title character Meredith Gray is hardly ever her "dark and twisty" [...]
Been a bit busy running the Rub A Dub Dub club nights & going to music school so for the house heads sorry for the lack of content. But after all good things come to those who wait (well thats what i tell the girls anyways) Recently i've been getting back to my ethnic roots and this percussion/tribal/tropical sound is killing it for me right now. Although Afrojack and Major Lazer are number 1 Torro Torro & BeatauCue are two of the producers certainly giving them a run for their money. Two tunes full of [...]
Risil is a group headed by Guillermo Scott Herren (Prefuse 73, Savath Savalas) consisting of Tyondai Braxton (Battles), Roberto Carlos Lange (Savath Savalas), Ryan Rasheed (LebLaze), Alejandra and Claudia Deheza (School of Seven Bells), John McEntire (Tortoise), Eva Puyuelo Muns (Savath Savalas), Zach Hill (Hella), Laurenz Pike (Triosk, Pivot) and members of Sunn O))). "Non Meters Vol. 1" is a densely layered excursion into a melodious, textured, fuzzy, droned out, powerful noise. The beauty found in this release is immaculate. The Deheza sister's voices jump back and forth singing "There Has to Be" and [...]

On this "remix" version to "Can't Stop Partying" , Weezer's Raditude -housed attempt at getting some rhythmic radio love, one Grammy-winning rapper is traded for another has Chamillionaire bumps Lil' Wayne out of the frame to showcase how much of a "rock star" he is. Which is, whatever, especially considering that Cham doesn't really offer anything here lyrically that your 10-year-old little brother couldn't have penned himself. With a verse built on tired references to threesomes, bra dismantling and Patrón-sipping, Cham sounds like he's giving a lesson in [...]

Friends, Romans, 'Lectro kids....Salutations! 'Tis been a week since we last talked, I hope you all survived your weekend with only a few scratches and bumps. Send some feedback on what you were doing; let's make this site a bit more socially interactive... Alright, guys, this week you're gettin spoiled. I've received tons of good stuff and I am willing to exhibit all of it in the coming days. The centre piece of this week's posts is a Brooklyn based band called Peephole . These guys really caught my attention. There are a lot of so-called Indie [...]

Are you ready to feel like a piece of shit? Gordon Gano was 19 when the Violent Femmes recorded their self-titled debut album. True story: the trio borrowed $10,000 from bassist Brian Ritchie's old man and ground out one of the great American rock albums of the 1980's, and certainly one of the most unmistakable. Gano's age shouldn't come as a surprise, considering how (sometimes disturbingly) well Violent Femmes encapsulates the iconic rage and frustration that came from Reagan's "Morning in America." Whenever I listen to a timeless masterwork created by someone too young to drink I inevitably wonder what [...]

At this time last year, if you would've told me the new mixtape from a white suburbanite, Southfield, MI Pop producer/singer named Mike Posner would make my most anticipated releases of 2009 list, I would have laughed straight in your face. Well, things change and the unexpected is now common place, because as you all hopefully know by now, young Mike P has come a long way in the last 365 days. With only the one classic mixtape (Yup) under his belt, this Duke senior has achieved [...]

On account of the huge dent an enormous stage might leave on the spongy Yankee Stadium field tonight, and also because Jay-Z definitely doesn't go outside unless his kicks are guaranteed to remain... Continue reading "Not So Fast, Sean: Rain Bumps Jay-Z World Series Interference Into Tomorrow" >

I believe that, technically, Atlas Sound is the headliner, but I'm treating this show as if Broadcast was. I love both artists, obviously. However, Bradford Cox, to quote The Spirit of Truth , makes his "ass very available," whereas Broadcast hasn't been around in a minute. So for me finally seeing Broadcast, after being a huge fan for six or seven years, is quite huge. They were also the primary motivation for making the three hour trek up I-71. I'm pleased to report that the goods were thoroughly delivered. Opening was The [...]

As you know (or don't) I DJ in a duo called Mugshots, with my friend Chris - we DJ at the night I run Krooked and all round Sheffield, we have also DJ'ed at various other places nationwide including Fabric and more recently Cosmic Ballroom for blog family Rub A Dub Dub (there will be more on this soon!). Our style is big jump-up techno and lovely mature electro, which I obviously love, but sometimes, as you will know if you're a long time reader, I love to just go mental to loud LOUD party music (hence the [...]

Effects pedals tweaker Adam Forkner, a.k.a. White Rainbow , has a lot going on for a relatively new artist. Besides touring Europe and supporting Deerhunter, dude also fist bumps Pauly Shore (see the Possibly Relevant links below). But what's probably most relevant is that his new body of work for Kranky, New Clouds , is a funky, technicolor, rainbows-and-gumdrops psychedelic score for modern dance. Four songs, 60ish minutes long, and genre ambiguous, New Clouds is a beautiful and driving aural jaunt that, at the sake of sounding like a cheesedick, you just sorta get lost in. [...]
While she may have enjoyed her first major taste of chart success with 1988's "Train Wreck Of Emotion," Lorrie Morgan had already been involved in country music for many years at that point. The daughter of Country Music Hall Of Fame member George Morgan , Lorrie made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry as a teenager and has been making records since the late 1970s. On her latest, A Moment In Time , she has assembled fourteen classic songs that have special meaning to her and put her own unique stamp on it. [...]
