I listen to a lot of music. A lot of music. I can't speak for AIV or Romeosidvicious, but the list of records I'd like to review for Ninebullets is about three miles long, and that's before I've sorted through anything that's been submitted for review (AIV handles the bulk of that, so his workload is exponentially larger). Point is, sometimes a record slips through the cracks. In the interest of trying to cover a few more bases, and inspired by AIV's recent 140-character Twitter reviews, I introduce to you a new [...]
The Cave Singers ' sound has certainly developed since their successful 2007 debut album, Invitation Songs . Recorded in Vancouver, Welcome Joy , exhibits more variety than their original signature blend of Americana meets English folk. The alt-county nasal vocal and laid-back slide guitar picking are still there from the outset. The opening track, 'Summer Light', is comforting and familiar, but 'At The Cut' sees the Seattle trio unleash their inner rock child, and they certainly have fun in the process. However, they have not strayed too far from their roots – 'Leap' is [...]
It's been a busy last few months for Ben Gibbard . First there was that Jay Farrar collaboration on the Jack Kerouac soundtrack . And, of course, there's the Death Cab for Cutie song on that soundtrack for the shiny vampire movie. Plus, the man got married! Yet despite all this, Mr. Zooey Deschanel has once again made time found time to join an already all-star line-up for a killer new album. And this time it's not just for our entertainment. According to Spinner.com , Gibbard [...]

Rachel Ratner has connections. . She's an on air DJ for KEXP as well as educational outreach coordinator for the station. She is also (and more importantly) the bassist for Partman Parthorse and possibly the only same person in that band, as well as one half of Seattle's "Butts" - cheeky eh? In what little spare time that leaves, Rachel somehow decided to explore some of her musical connections and inevitably the binds that tie our Seattle music community together. To do this she created a cartographic study of Seattle's musical incest. [...]

What was word on the cyberstreet yesterday became official today: the War Room is closing its doors on November 30th . Following in the footsteps of King Cobra , which closed this past February, the eclectic concert and dance venue with the coolest rooftop bar around is calling it quits after five years. Bummer. I didn't make it there nearly as often as other venues in the neighborhood, but the times I did were always memorable. The first show I saw there was Wolf Parade (no shit) and the last was [...]

First of all, these lists are all opinions, so you can't really say a list is "good" or "bad". You can only say stuff like "I disagree with this list" or "Whoever made this list has different tastes than I have". That being said, this list sucks. *Lil Wayne giggle*. Saw it at Stereogum . 50 The Lonely Island - Incredibad 49 Rodrigo y Gabriela - 11:11 48 Thao - Know Better Learn Faster 47 Mayer Hawthorne - A Strange Arrangement 46 Noisettes - [...]

It's Shred Yr Face Week here at Strange Glue so go ahead and grab that cheese-grater and let's get started. All jokes aside, we're pretty serious about providing you guys with some great content over the course of the week and so in an extra special, Shred Yr Face Video Of The Week feature, we've decided to share not one, not two but three entire videos with you.

The Cave Singers attain an unheralded harmony between the back porch and the road on their sophomore masterpiece. I first heard the Cave Singers in Neumo's, a small, sweaty bar in Seattle. The in-house DJ was spinning in anticipation of a gut-busting rock 'n' roll powerhouse out of Detroit. As the crowd continued to grow, the DJ kept the blood flowing with some pretty meaty selections. Then, as if in one of those grand, Hollywood moments of clarity, he introduced me to the Cave Singers. I can't be sure whether it was Pete...

Some music publications seem to take a perverse pleasure in building up a band and then knocking them down to the gutter at a later date TBC. But when it comes to The Pop Cop's treatment of our favourite (non-Scottish) acts, they tend to be handled like one-night stands: we get a quick fix by buttering them up with compliments and chat-up lines before severing all ties and waving them out of our lives, never to be heard of again. THE CAVE SINGERS [...]
port o brien - my will is good [from wiki: 'Port O'Brien' are an American musical group combining elements of acoustic, folk and indie rock. They are named after a bay featuring a now-abandoned cannery on Kodiak Island where founder member Van Pierszalowski's parents met. They started out as a folk music duo of Cambria Goodwin and Van Pierszalowski while Cambria was living in Cambria, California and Van was living in Oakland. After Cambria moved closer to Oakland they added a rhythm section composed of Caleb Nichols and Joshua Barnhart. The band has [...]

This year marks the 7th annual Yule Benefit show, Saturday, December 12th at Neumos. The organizers at KEXP must have been listening because the night is chock-full with local Subsonic favorite artists with performances by The Thermals , The Cave Singers , The Builders and the Butchers , and Grand Hallway . Its like a winter wonderland dream! Except inside...without any snow...and much noisier. But that's a good thing. . Tickets will be available at ticketswest.com but KEXP is doing a special presale on Monday Oct 26th [...]

One of the CMJ shows I'll most regret missing tonight (10/23) is the " Evening with Califone : All My Friends Are Funeral Singers" It's "a multimedia event" at 92YTribeca. And actually, I don't think it's part of CMJ, and tickets are still on sale . Yesterday (10/22) Ted Leo could be found enjoying a set by his tour-mates JEFF the Brotherhood at the BrooklynVegan party at Pianos. Tonight (10/23) is his set at the Matador CMJ showcase at The Suffolk . Flyer below. [...]

photos by Tim Griffin DOWNLOAD: The xx - Basic Space (MP3) The xx has turned out to be one of the bands everyone wants to see at CMJ this year. Their was a line around the block for their Wednesday night show at Mercury Lounge. It couldn't have been much easier to get into their equally small shows last night at the Apple Store and The Delancey. "Arriving early [the [...]
