Well, "Miley Cyrus Tour Bus Crash Kills One" is quite a startling headline to find first thing in the morning! ABC News reports that a tour bus belonging to the "Party In The U.S.A." starlet overturned on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie, Virginia—about 40 miles south of Richmond—around 8:15 a.m. Friday morning. Miley was reportedly not on board the bus during the crash. Virginia police have yet to disclose the identities of anyone else on board. TMZ is also noting that the driver of the bus is dead, and that [...]

With the tracklist and a release date set for their new album My Dinosaur Life , Minnesota pop-punk band Motion City Soundtrack is gearing up for a bigger year. The only way that could get any more fierce? How about headlining tour dates come early 2010? Triceratops that. Before they reign supreme as the T-Rex of their own tour, the band will first be touring in support of Weezer throughout December. But come January 23rd, the fivesome kick off their own 14-city ordeal in their hometown at First Avenue. [...]

It is said we are in an age where singles matter more than full albums. Sometimes a single track makes an artist or in other cases, it kills. We beg to differ and still prefer having full albums, which provide a basis for better judgement. Monarchy has not put out an album or even an EP, and in fact they only have a demo out. That track "Gold In The Fire" however, has created so much buzz there are even 2 remixes by Diamond Cut [...]
Q-Tip kills his part of "Hope You're Happy," the new Blakroc single, outshining the shouting contributions from Billy Danze and Nicole Wray, which shouldn't be surprising, since dude is, apart from Mos Def, the only rapper who sounds totally natural over the earthy tones of the Black Keys' restrained blues. The Blakroc project is shaping up nicely, but I haven't heard anything that has rocked my socks off quite like Black Keys albums. The Blakroc Project is due out on Nov. 27. Download: [...]

Hailing from New Jersey and currently residing in Seattle, Rachel Flotard has been piloting Visqueen for years while singing with Neko Case. She formed her own indie label, Local 638 Records, and released the power-pop gem Message to Garcia to rave reviews. In this EXCLUSIVE interview, Rachel Flotard recalls the evolution of her new album and some of her [...]

This being her third album in seven years, you couldn't accuse Kate Walsh of being prolific compared to many of her peers. She has, however, changed her style over time. This release is far more country rock than the jazzier pop of Tim's House , yet it still retains the beautifully constructed vulnerability of both her previous works. The fragile singer songwriter (a la Joni Mitchell) is still present but, if anything, this album builds on it with aspects of alt-country and Gram Parsons, complete with all the inherent self doubt and insecurities. [...]

Great gig this. Slightly bad tempered due to what can only be described as a tricky audience and the sound could be a bit better but then is was twenty years ago when tape recorders were massive and you had to sneak them into gigs down the front of your pants. Despite everything this is one of my favorite bootlegs ever. Download Here 1. Happy All The Time 2. So [...]

T oday, I was rudely awakened. The alarm for my wake-up call was set the week before last when, on a whim, I entered a contest on the gay online-dating website Manhunt. It was a search for 12 models -- three from Argentina, three from Colombia, three from Mexico, three from Spain -- for the 2010 Manhunt calendar. I don't know why I entered. I was bored, or looking for something. Validation, maybe. I never expected anything to come of it. I entered and forgot about it. On Sunday or Monday of last week, they sent [...]
If there is one thing LL Cool J does better than acting, it's rapping. So when the multifaceted LL performed the character of Sherman "Preacher" Dudley in the 1999 blockbuster, Deep Blue Sea , it was only natural that he be on the soundtrack. In Deep Blue Sea , Preacher steals the show as the scripture-quoting chef aboard a shark-infested sea lab. In the film, Preacher plays the groundbreaking role of [...]

MarchFourth Marching Band Rise Up (Self- Released) [BRASS 'N' BALLS] Some great live bands just can't seem to capture their in-person energy on disc. "You have to see 'em live," we tell friends, apologetically, when the CD doesn't bring it. I was afraid that would happen with MarchFourth, whose joyous performances owe so much to the visual—and visceral—impact of so many big-horn toters and percussionists having so much fun, marching into the audience and throwing down. That ambience is notoriously hard to capture on a recording, as [...]

"He thought you were really tanned. No. He must have remembered you as being white. I wasn't white. No, I know. Such a Pete thing to do. Classic." Today my subject matter is Tap Tap, solo project of Thomas Sanders who fronts the aforementioned pirates. I spent a few minutes downstairs in The Lexington after Eugene McGuinness had finished cooing and Pete from Pete and the Pirates getting all confused. J: When I interviewed you before, Tap Tap was not really that important to you. Don't even talk [...]
