Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , UK Radiohead drummer Phil Selway is to perform a solo tour of Europe, beginning in Italy on Mar. 27 -- in support of his as-yet-untitled upcoming album release. The drummer and singer recently penned and sang 'The Ties That Bind Us' and 'The Witching Hour' on Neil Finn 's '7 Worlds Collide' Oxfam fundraiser album 'The Sun Came Out.' He also contributed to other tracks, alongside Johnny Marr , Jeff Tweedy and KT [...]

Radiohead drummer Phil Selway has recently announced that he's going on a solo tour of the Mediterranean regions of Europe. Apparently this shouldn't exactly blindside in-the-know Radiohead fans, seeing as we got news last year of a Selway solo album in the works. The album is rumored to feature collaborations from Lisa Germano, Sebastian Steinberg of Soul Coughing, and Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone of Wilco. It is possible that the album will be released under the moniker Boybrain. Interesting. Collaborator Lisa Germano will open for Selway during the tour. If we have any readers from [...]
Lisa Germano – In The Maybe World / 2006 Young God / 12 Tracks / www.lisagermano.com / www.younggodrecords.com / Reviewed 06 June 2006 There is little to grab onto when Lisa Germano starts eir album "In The Maybe World". The first track, "The Day", contains a set of vocals and some incidental instruments. What the track [...]
I never got to see Michael Gira 's ridiculously influential band Swans perform... probably because I was just starting high school and had no effing clue who they were when they broke up, back in 1997. So, after months of hint-dropping and message board buzzing, it's pretty exciting to learn that the band is, in fact, making a comeback . The group that our friends at The Quietus aptly describe as a "seminal noise/post punk/malevolent gothic troupe" already has the deliciously gloomy, desolate, solo-Gira acoustic track "Jim" posted at its MySpace page [...]
1 - Mono - Immortal_Wind 2 - Faust - C'est Com Com Complique 3 - Animal collective – 4 - Six organs of admittance – Luminous Night 5 - [...]

John Wildgoose - Midwest Dirty Snow I don't have words today, just a song. I'd apologize, but it's a great song. Lisa Germano - Snow (mp3)
The Queen of Melancholy decides it may be time to come outside and play on new album.
For the 12th year Brainwashed Readers have voiced their opinion on the best and worst music of the year. While some of the results shouldn't come as a surprise, there are, as always, plenty of anomalies. Brainwashed Readers have once again, and probably moreso than any other previous year, distanced themselves from the mainstream. Thanks to all who took part. As always, the Brainwashed Staff have added their comments. Album of the Year:Sunn O))), Monoliths Dimensions Their best album by a country mile. I get the feeling their collaborators have a lot to do with [...]

End of the year. Time to take stock and to stock up on prescriptions before the old health insurance, or what's left of it, rolls over. As such, each member of [...]
There's a sense of vast openness to the exceptionally well-crafted music of Stillwater, Oklahoma band Other Lives . Perhaps reflecting the midwest landscape of big sky and rolling plains, the songs from their self-titled debut full length drift and flow with a natural, organic base - real instruments and unaffected vocals shining amidst gorgeous melodies and nuanced, lush orchestration. Formed five years ago and fronted by Jesse Tabish, Other Lives manages to effectively meld progressive and classical elements to larger-than-life pop [...]

I have only to glance at Stereogum's post on the most anticipated albums of 2010 to be assured that next year will be better than 2009, when my most-visited album was the Stone Roses' reissue . [Heartfelt thanks again to the person who gifted me that; you know who you are.] That said, '09 had some high moments. There were a lot of albums to which I matriculated like comfort food — at so many moments, only hooks would do — and there were others that seemed to stalk me, especially the haunting, synth-addled Fever [...]
DOWNLOAD: Julie Peel - "Unfold" MP3 Canada-to-Brooklyn transplant Julie Peel has announced a last minute full-band show tonight at Cameo Gallery opening for Uninhabitable Mansions (which is a new band that features members of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Au Revoir Simone, Radical Dad, and Dirty On Purpose). 41.
The end of the present decade is only days away, so our Frank Deserto has undertaken the massive task of presenting the highs and lows of each year. He continues this nine-part series with a look back on 2003. Hit us with your memories in the comment section. 2003 saw the world fall victim to even more violence and degradation. War on Iraq was imminent, as a major protest was launched in February. Just a month later, US and UK troops invaded the country, beginning a war that still continues to date. Curiously enough, President Bush announced the end of major [...]

Berlino e Catania.
