Spain's Buffetlibre DJs are busy guys, when not DJing, reMixing, producing and spearheading some of the more interesting multi-artist projects around are throwing their weight behind Amnesty International to highlight human rights abuses around the world. To highlight the worldwide injustices that AA work so hard to stop Buffetlibre's unique concept for their charity compilation album is to create a 'musical atlas' featuring many and varied artists from around the globe. Such as the first 'single' from the album. 'Mike' by Ivri Lider , one of Israel's most successful singer/songwriters, with this [...]

If you spend a lot of time on the internets you know about Drew . He and Natalie Dee run Sharing Machine , producers of fine content like Toothpaste for Dinner , Married to the Sea , and Superpoop ; you either have one of their t-shirts or one of your friends does. You get bonus internet points if you know Drew is responsible for Kompressor and Dog Traders . It's got to be a great job to just make fun things all day and put them on the internet. [...]
I'm about to start Saturday's lineup by blowing right through a cool half dozen uncool bands. I know it may make me look like I don't, you know, like anything ever... but I look at it this way (and I'm pretty sure I repeat this mantra every year)... would I pay US American dollars to see any of these bands perform on their own? Not in this recession, bitches! Saturday begins with Frank Turner and the always reliable Irish Music/Punk Rock blend... which is fine when you're drinking Guinness at Molly Malone's... [...]

Howdy kids. Sorry for our absence as of late, We've been busy boys. The Play-Doh Launch night @ CATCH was huge and BEFORENOON 's 1st Birthday @333 was, as we have come to expect from the B4N team, classic. Anyways... I digress... I heard a cover version on a youtube link while I was looking for a Ramones video. It was by Jason Mraz. It brought out a very spitefull reaction in me as to the 'softened'version he did. Let's just say my reaction was opposite to the one Mraz intended by slowly and 'meaningfully' [...]

French upstart label On The Fruit Records is a group of artists that we've kept close ear on for some time now. Staying true to 80's influences and dreamwave sounds, their releases have steadily improved as they've acquired new artists. Their next release is from Midnight Club , and we've got a very nice remix from Worship to share today. This is the standout track that I've heard, and its a really nice little taste of nostalgic, dancey, synth music. [...]

It's very fitting that BC's Aidan Knight is traveling the West Coast in the luxurious comfort of Dan Mangan's van. Not for similarity of sound, but both BC boys have that something... whether it's the ability to turn the simplest of chords into something meaningful, the subtle turn of phrase that puts you along side them as the story is told or how they can cram layer after layer into a beautiful composition and never get lost in the mix. Whatever "it" is, both young song writers possess that talent in spades. The thing is while [...]
As promised, here's the second half of the interview with David and Peter Brewis of Field Music after their gig in Brooklyn on 30 January 2010. In this half, we discuss topics as diverse as their musical influences, music history, music piracy, "staycations" and the future of the band - aren't you glad you came back? Note: The audio of this interview is located below. The transcript is included below and after the cut. Descriptions of what is happening have been placed between asterisks, i.e. "*Peter enters the room*" [...]

A Badge Of Friendship Interview Visit A Badge Of Friendship Please start off by introducing yourselves and telling us a bit about your favourite things? Claire: My name is Claire. I run A Badge of Friendship with Paul - we've been doing ABoF for around 5 years now. My favourite things are music, art, fashion... When you're as important as we are you get to hear music before you're supposed to, and we don't mean simply recording songs from a gig with our mobiles. So, we've managed to get our hands on The Family Jewels, the debut album by Marina & The Diamonds . Can it live up to the hype? Does she deserve all the plaudits and poll mentions? Can we get to the end without that voice grating on us? Let's find out... Are You Satisfied? [...]
I have been inundated with millions of e-mails, letters and phone calls from irate fans angry at me for ignoring the Grammys (well, the other side of my split personality figured it deserved a mention). Yes, I forgot to mention the Grammys in my last post, mostly because I don't care. I really don't want to sound snobby about it (and I'm only parroting what everybody else already says) and this is painfully bleeding obvious, but the Grammys aren't exactly about the music (duh!). I'm fine with that, but at least be honest with people. You're honouring sales figures and [...]

Last night I went down to Highline Ballroom with three friends and saw the wonderful Hot Chip rock the venue for all the fans who waited for hours in the brutal cold for their free Myspace Secret Show. They played a full set with a healthy mix of songs from their latest album One Life Stand, along with fan favorites from The Warning and Made In The Dark. I have better photos to share with you but left my cord in my dorm. I will upload them and make a separate post on Monday. Free Energy opened up [...]

Milton, Ontario, Hardball Cafe; never did I once ever think that two of my favorite bands would ever be playing this small city let alone the same venue. After rescheduling the show after minor technicalities involving bookings and what not, Wednesday February 3rd I finally got my interview with USS. While I didn't get to interview Ash that night, Human Kebab was more than happy to answer my questions. A- Where did the name Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker come from? Whose idea was it? HK- It was Ash's idea, it was his [...]
Vol. 1: Popcovers Vol. 2: Folk Covers Vol. 3: Indie Covers 26 year old Frank Fairfield plays old mountain bluegrass and country blues standards solo on banjo, guitar and fiddle; he's been compared to Mississippi John Hurt, and played sessions with the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Robin Peckinold of the Fleet Foxes , who has hosted Frank as a sideman, calls him a man "born out of time," and sure enough, his [...]

In early October I wrote about a new discovery to me; the Swedish duo Kläder & Vapen (Clothes & Weapons in English). Back then they had made great remixes together with our slow and sad indie girl Anna Ternheim. Fantastic work with sad songs turned into great electro. This time it's sad again, "Sad Machine" to me more precise. A nice track from the Swedish guy & girl duo Cleast Eatwood , who makes slow electro pop in a brilliant way. Kläder & Vapen's remix of the track is more discrete than the [...]
Vol. 1: Popcovers Vol. 2: Folk Covers We've wrangled a bit with the term "indie" here before, both in regards to its relationship with folk music, and as a source for coverage. Today, though, the term is merely a catch-all for coverage, loosely defined; after all, songsource being what it is, much modern music is neither folk nor fowl, neither pop nor pap, but that precious still-underground stuff which claims neither major label nor traditional affiliation. We'll have a [...]
THE AMPLIFETES It's rare that an artist gets on to The Recomemnder on the back of one tune, but we make exceptions when said track is this fucking loveable. To be fair this tune is a little off our beaten path, with it's retro, Roy Wood riffing and rather shameless Canned Heat influence, but the magic and uplift is so strong we simply stopped caring. This tune is made to be a soundtrack to a movie's bank robbery scene, or a BBC advert for the World Cup, or frankly any time you [...]
![Diggy – The First Flight [Review]](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2314506_lg.jpg)
I'm not going to lie; when I saw a link to a Diggy Simons freestyle on VladTv.com , I clicked on it thinking it'd be good for a laugh. But I must say, the lil man sure can rap and apparently I had missed the boat on the release of his first mixtape, The First Flight , which was released on December 2, 2009. If you've ever seen Run's House on MTV, then you know who Diggy is. If not, all you need to know is he's [...]

Throw on your flannel shirt and grab a mouthful of marbles because it's 1992 all the fuck over again. kc quilty hail from Brooklyn, New York, which has probably given us enough cheesy-ass post-Strokes guitar pop in the last ten minutes to burst a blood vessel; Sadie Dupuis and co. buck this trend and take us back to a time that seems so much simpler and yet so much more complicated. I often listen to alt-rock records from the 90's and reflect wistfully on how no one produces like that anymore, [...]
Congratulations, lovers. February is here. This is the time to make your move on that honey you've been somewhat stalking for the past few months and finally get the digits. Here at LWMB, we love , well, love. And while the big day is still a little over a week away, we thought we'd pre-game a little. So much so that yours truly stayed up all week to bring you some Valentine's Day-esque performances from the week that was on the late night circuit. So grab a seat, sit back and check out all the serenading sounds to get [...]
