Band: Ramona Falls From: Portland, OR Sound: Dazzling experimental pop compositions penned with an acoustic heart and electronic precision Similar Artists: Grandaddy, The Earlies, Jim O'Rourke, Badly Drawn Boy, Menomena Listen: "Russia" Ramona Falls is Brent Knopf. Not coincidentally, Ramona Falls is also a cascading 120-foot waterfall along Oregon's Mount Hood, reachable via difficult trail (for those lacing up their hiking boots, it's 7.1 miles long and gains over 1000 [...]
Brent Knopf has never failed to impress listeners with his Portland based group Menomena; cult followings happen for a reason. And fans are sure to follow Knopf as he embarks in his first solo efforts under the kooky moniker Ramona Falls . Hooking up with Sundance prize winning animation director Stefan Nadelman (who, by no coincidence is a former Menomena video director) on the video for his single "I Say Fever" was just another brilliant move this massively talented artist had to make. Just for fun, take not of what [...]

(Editor's note: today's interview comes to us with permission from Cleveland Bachelor , where the Q&A was originally posted. Yesterday was one of those work days that you dread, meeting after meeting after meeting. From the moment I got to work until nearly 4 PM, I was shuffling from one room to another, trading brain cells for increased self-loathing every additional minute. Mere seconds after finally sitting down in my chair back in my dank big boy office, the alarm on my phone went off. I looked at it, wondering what it was I was reminding myself [...]
One of the best videos of the year comes from Ramona Falls, the solo venture of Brent Knopf of Menomena. The album entitled Intuit is out now via Barsuk Records . I just spotted it on eMusic. Video: Ramona Falls - I Say Fever

New Music Video and Album ! Someone You Should Know It Doesn't Sound Like A Side Project... RAMONA FALLS Responsible Party? - Menomena's Brent Knopf photo by Melani Brown PORTLAND, OR - Ramona Falls is the music side project of Brent Knopf ( Menomena ). [...]

This Sunday and Monday, DEVO is performing two of its most beloved albums at Seattle's intimate Moore Theater. The first night, 1978 album Q: Are We Not Men?, A: We Are DEVO! will be played in its entirety. In 2009, this record still sounds exactly as God and Brian Eno intended. Eno's production is clear and visceral in a way the group never was again. But that's the rub when you believe in De-Evolution: Things start out uncontrollably great, and eventually shrivel up. Portland, you are probably too cheap to woo acts that charge $38-75 (not including service [...]
Maybe you haven't noticed, but it's the golden age of music video all over again. Once left to the likes of big budgets, Top 40 and MTV, indie musicians are teaming with burgeoning auteurs to create a new wave of DIY audio/visual splendor. This week's edition: Ramona Falls, Grand Archives, Bishop Allen and Spiral Stairs. The second installment of our new A/V series-- extra emphasis on the V-- includes new videos featuring both the animated (one intricately, one generally) and the non-animated, the narrative-based and the less linear. All tend to work well, as we'll see, [...]
by relio ► This video, for one of the best tracks on Kurt Vile 's Childish Prodigy, is all fast cuts, overlapped footage, live shots, and Kurt singing under a bridge. The imagery is unspecific but the psychedelic effect it has fits the song like a glove. Check out some more of our favorite vids after the jump.. ► This video for "You Came Out" by [...]
If we are to believe Ramona Falls (Brent Knopf of Menomena), the 1800s were a time of shifty eyed people and rampaging bird men. Said bird man would come into your bar while you were trying to kick back and recover from your latest cholera scare, and shoot a bird at you. That's right, a bird that would fly straight at your head, removing your mask and revealing that you were, in fact, an animal underneath it. I think the real animal is the bird man. You've been trying to keep your origins as an ox quiet ever [...]

This compilation offers more than its title suggests, even making an emo Christian compelling. Danny Seim is most notable for his work with the indie band Menomena, a strange rock trio out of Portland, Oregon. His first recordings come from the solo-project-turned-side-proje ct Lackthereof, and were put out on CD-R before both Menomena and Lackthereof began their association with FILMguerrero (and Barsuk) in 2004. A Lackthereof Retrospective or I Was a Christian Emo Twentysomething, then, consists of home-recorded, pre-side-project CD-R tracks from someone claiming to be both Emo and Christian....

Woah. Stop what you are doing right this second and... okay, you can finish watching that video of the kitten falling into the garbage can . Done? Okay, good. Now you must watch this excellent new Ramona Falls video for "I Say Fever." The first video from Brent Knopf's Menomena side project, and his debut Intuit recording, is a beautifully designed clip that features plenty of textured vintage artwork, odd-looking animals (bonus: with weapons!), and a slinky animation style that works perfectly with the song. It was directed by Stefan Nadelman, who previously [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. Fantastic song from their new album Intuit . The video, directed by Stefan Nadelman, is even better. Ramona Falls is the solo work of Brent Knopf, one third of Menomena; Nadelman previously worked with Knopf on the similarly dark and fantastic video for 'Evil Bee' (from Menomena's Friend or Foe album) which you can see here . So why not send our former intern, Jenny Booth, to a festival in the UK, right? Heck, if it helps her with a press pass, we feel pretty damn good about it. -Ed. Having studied my degree in Cardiff—and always longed for a music festival on my doorstep—it was downright mean of Swn Fest's organizers to start it up the year I left school. Three years on, though, and I'm finally in the right place at the right time—if a little apprehensive as to how one of the world's smallest capital cities will rival last months [...]

A selfish reason for doing the Albums of the Decade Blog Tour (which wraps today with Sound as Language ) is to discover new music for myself. As I said in my list , there is no way to hear everything. So the following five albums are ones I'm interested in hearing that other people on the tour listed. Most of these I had heard the name of the band, but their music never crossed my path. They were like myths made real. I'll let you investigate to find who listed [...]
