Ovest - Southwest Division Dallas Mavericks - Dallas è tipo l'inter della NBA no?

The NBA is ready to launch another Donaghy-free season and we couldn't be happier. TSS is kicking things off with the Western Conference and we'll swing out East in the ensuing preview. All eyes are on Kobe and QB's finest small forward in Ron Artest to repeat for LA. Don't get us started on Lamar and Sasquatch Kardashian. On the other end of the spectrum Blake Griffin is due for some posters and looks to be a shoe in for Rookie of the Year. Greg Oden has another year to prove he's not a modern day Sam Bowie and AI [...]

Steve Poltz: I Thought I Saw You Last Night [ purchase ] (One Left Shoe CD) I will go on the record (no pun intended) now as admitting that I loved Pieces of You, Jewel's first album, when it was released in 1995 - one of our local radio stations (WHSE, 103.5) was sponsoring her South Florida concert and, as a marketing ploy, selling tickets for $1.03 - I bought seven (a minivan full) and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening (complete with Duncan Sheik as the opening act!)... J.P. Sutcliffe does his homework on London loudies, Hey Colossus , thanks to a spirited interview with Rhys, Bob, and Paul. If you like shouting and overblown volume, you've found your kin. EVP: We have read a lot about Hey Colossus writing extreme noise compositions but can you foresee this as a creative way to make music? How long before noise just becomes noise? I had in mind that joke of an LP, Merry Christmas , by F.M. Heinheart and Casper Brotzmann. [...]

Just the one from the charity shop today. But two remixes from Sasha of M-People from their big first hit in 1994. Sadly, the remixes are of M-People, with the big lungs of Heather Small. And the lyrics are crass positivity. Even a tune written by Marshall Jefferson ("Someday") is marred by Ms Small, despite Sasha doing a pretty good job on the tune. The key component of M People is Mike Pickering (b. Michael Duncan Pickering, 24 February 1958, Accrington, Lancashire, [...]

This is from the album Paul Simon released in 1972, his first solo album. It's filled with great songs like The Mother and Child Reunion and Me and Julio, and it gives us a taste of the Paul Simon to come who will experiment with different styles and sounds. I love this song because of the story and the pipes which remind me of their last album together. MP3 File yousendit

Inspired by Marilyn's recent article on the same theme I thought I'd have a go in the hope that this might become a regular feature on AFIN. It's difficult question… there's so much music and so many obscure artists that one might like to mention for sake of namedropping them but, in all honestly, their minor cult status is perhaps ultimately y proportionate to their contribution to pop music. Then there are very well known and popular acts that are perhaps 'misunderstood'. And overrated bands? Don't even get me started… Anyway, here are eight more that, if you're [...]

Yet another prodigal return has turned up a backlog of new music, and this time, much of it fits neatly with previously posted features. Too, returning from two weeks of family vacation has meant a triumphant return to my own ever-growing collection, and, as often is the case, the distance which hiatus brings has lent new meaning to a few tunes collected a while back, yet never truly appreciated until I happened on them through shuffle. So here's yet another set of tunes that I'd have posted way back when, if I knew [...]

Copyright Jim Marshall I am not quite old enough to have attended Woodstock — if you want some insights, talk to this guy — but I will look in on " Woodstock : The 40th Anniversary," the photographic exhibition currently up at the Duncan Miller Gallery. The exhibition features the work of four photographers — Jim Marshall , Baron Wolman , Henry Diltz and Lisa Law . Each of the four boasts long histories documenting the seminal acts and events of the time: Marshall shot the likes [...]
It was the first, and most important, question of the day: just what does one wear to Woodstock? We were headed to the "Heroes of Woodstock" show Saturday at Bethel Woods Center, on the grounds of the original 1969 Woodstock festival, and we wanted to fit in. Thinking that a Hawaiian shirt might be a little ostentatious, by the time we got to Woodstock we knew we were wrong. Because everywhere you looked, there was tie-dye. Tie-dyed shirts, tie-dyed pants, possibly even a couple of tie-dyed people. In fact the only thing more plentiful than tie-dye on Saturday was gray hair [...]

The eclectic Brooklyn-via-South Florida sound sculptor Roberto C. Lange, aka Helado Negro, counts Funkadelic, DJ Premiere, South American 60's pop, Arthur Russell, the Ecuadorean ballad singer Julio Jaramillo, and others as influences for his Latin-infused ambient/avant-pop weirdness. Also, he's literally a sculptor: Among other things, he's composed the music for "typewriters that self-type the lyrics to Grand Master Flash's 'The Message' (in rhythm to the song, none-the-less)" in collaboration with David Ellis . To give you a deeper sense of his approach, Lange's also collaborated with a variety of soundmakers like School of Seven Bells, Bear In Heaven, Paul [...]
