If you've never heard about Buffet Libre (which I find really hard to believe) you know that they've been responsible of the most amazing projects in the past few years. After such a large success Buffet Libre has join hands with Amnesty International for one of their biggest and most important projects, the project is called "Peace" and it compiles artist of 50 countries into one compilation, the proceeds from the album will go directly to Amnesty International. Here are a few samples of what this compilation will have as well as the line up of artist and [...]
The Big Pink first caught my attention with their single "Velvet," a dreamy collage of industrial beats amidst a droning guitar shred. I played it over and over and over until I got my hands on the debut album A Brief History of Love, which became an automatic favorite. While being more reminiscent of Jesus and the Mary Chain, the band took its name from country soul rockers The Band's debut album Music from Big Pink. The duo consists of multi-instrumentalists Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell. The band's debut album, A [...]
Spain's Buffetlibre DJs are busy guys, when not DJing, reMixing, producing and spearheading some of the more interesting multi-artist projects around are throwing their weight behind Amnesty International to highlight human rights abuses around the world. To highlight the worldwide injustices that AA work so hard to stop Buffetlibre's unique concept for their charity compilation album is to create a 'musical atlas' featuring many and varied artists from around the globe. Such as the first 'single' from the album. 'Mike' by Ivri Lider , one of Israel's most successful singer/songwriters, with this [...]
Latter day shoegaze enthusiasts A Place to Bury Strangers are still riding the massive waves from their 2009 release, Exploding Head . The band is gearing up for a co-headlining tour with the like-minded Big Pink, which hits the U.S. in just a few weeks. Meanwhile, A Place to Bury Strangers have unveiled their latest video for "Keep Slipping Away," Exploding Head 's second single. Directed by Brendan Bellomo and Greg Wilson, the video follows a strict narrative, pulling equally from David Lynch and David Cronenberg's Videodrome . The end result combines a [...]
The Buffetlibre duo have come up with an impressively unique concept for their PEACE compilation album that is due for release on 1st March - creating a musical atlas of the world with songs from each and every corner (or at least from more than 50 countries). These aren't just unknown artists either, they've got Voxtrot from the USA, Official Secrets Act from the UK, The Hidden Cameras form Canada, The Toxic Avenger form France plus many other less recognisable but no less impressive acts from Lebanon to [...]
Our friend Marc from Buffetlibre ( http://www.buffetlibredjs.net ), Barcelona just got in contact with us regarding their new project called PEACE , in collaboration with Amnesty International that will be released digitally on March 1, 2010 and one which we will be a media collaborator. All proceeds from the sale of the compilation will go to Amnesty International's campaigns on human rights. Although we are primarily an electronic music blog and this isn't, we still can't say no to giving a helping hand. [...]

The more involved I get in the world of publishing the more I find that there is an order or progression to things. Your career and opportunities grow as you gain knowledge, experience, and respect. A writer and publisher that I really respect is Cynthia Reeser. She recently announced the arrival of her new press Aqueous Books. This comes in a addition to her literary site Prick of The Spindle , and her productive career as writer. She is a very busy women, but recently took time to answer a few of my questions. [...]

Since telling you all that I was going to be posting more on the bands that send music to my inbox a couple weeks ago I have totally dropped the ball and failed at doing just that. It's not that I didn't want to, it's that I wanted to listen to records from the big boys that were leaking every minute right onto my hard drive! Now I know that doesn't make up for the fact that I haven't introduced you to any new bands in a while, but it should at least explain why I've neglected these bands! Anyway, [...]

As the story goes, there was once a three-piece band from Virginia called Skywave. One day, a member from Skywave relocated to New York City. He formed a band called A Place to Bury Strangers. They blew out amplifiers. They blew out eardrums. The crowd rejoiced. Then, came the bills for the new amps and new hearing aids and there was a little less rejoicing, but the crowd was still very pleased with the band who rivaled the legendary guitar screech of Jesus and Mary Chain. [...]
Photo credit: Pete Duvall Office of Future Plans are, in the loosely phrased wording of J. Robbins, just a bunch of old dudes who barely find time to practice. Anyone that has seen them perform (one of their only two shows), reports quite the contrary. OOFP is J Robbins' new full-time musical outlet when he steps outside the studio box. He is backed by a tight and talented cast: bassist Brooks Harlan (accomplished engineer in his own right at Lord Baltimore Recording, member [...]
