I listen to a lot of music. A lot of music. I can't speak for AIV or Romeosidvicious, but the list of records I'd like to review for Ninebullets is about three miles long, and that's before I've sorted through anything that's been submitted for review (AIV handles the bulk of that, so his workload is exponentially larger). Point is, sometimes a record slips through the cracks. In the interest of trying to cover a few more bases, and inspired by AIV's recent 140-character Twitter reviews, I introduce to you a new [...]
by Andrew Frisicano DOWNLOAD: Jonathan Richman - Because Her Beauty Is Raw And Wild (WAV) (huge file) Jonathan Richman @ Bowery Ballroom in June ( more by Andrew Frisicano ) Jonathan Richman is prepping the follow-up to his 2008 album Because Her Beauty Is Raw And Wild for a 2010 release on Vapor Records. Like his albums and tours of late, it will be a collaboration with [...]
Vic Chesnutt is a study in contradictions. The most recent example of that in Chesnutt's professional life is what to do with two new albums recorded a month apart: Skitter on Take-off, a solo album produced by the great Jonathan Richman, and the decidedly different-feeling At the Cut, his second album with Thee Silver Mt. Zion Orchestra. (He previously paired with them in 2007 for North Star Deserter .) Before playing a gig in Atlanta, Chesnutt discussed how to deal with an embarrassment of artistic riches, the virtues of being lucky rather than [...]
First, lets get this straight - this band is not a pack of wolves, despite their name, and therefore they do not bite - so have no fear, future fans. However, their musical combination of dance-rock-electro packs quite a punch, something that won't hurt much if you're willing to give it a try. Now that's out of the way, you can read on. We Are Wolves , the Quebecois trio, will be releasing their third album Invisible Violence courtesy of Dare to Care Records , February 2, 2010, as their American debut. [...]
Spilling over with trembling strings and thunderous crescendos, Coward foreshadows the electric energy that is to be found throughout Vic Chesnutt's newest record. With members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt. Zion, and Fugazi once again contributing, At the Cut is populated by giant melodies, quiet meditations, and intense studies on mortality and memory. But, for all its bombast, At the Cut is probably most notable for Chesnutt's unwavering honesty and cathartic power. Because of these qualities it has quickly become one of my favorite and most played records this [...]

Coming straight out of Montreal is Canada's top wolf related band We are Wolves with their third full-length album Invisible Violence . Recorded by Radwan Moumneh (Silver Mt. Zion, Pas Chic Chic) and Hadji Bakara (Wolf Parade, Megasoid) Invisible Violence expands upon there irreverant dance rock with bratty punk ("Holding Hands"), hypnotic electro-pop ("Reaching for the Sky") and moody angular anthem's ("Walking Commotion"). Due for release on February 2, 2010 via Dare to Care Records this three-piece's follow-up to there thrillingly danceable sophomore release Total Magique will entice fans with [...]

I've decided to create an installment in which I do a recap of my favorite albums of the past ten years now that we're coming up on the turn-of-decade - yes, 2010 is upon us. They key: I do them one at a time. I figure contemplating the weight of albums that have been instituted in my library for the better part (or even just half) of a decade would warrant a skewed opinion when comparing them to those released just this month. And, as these things are all truly opinion-based, well I just couldn't have that. [...]

Starting November 5 in Iowa, Grant Hart (of legendary 80s act Hüsker Dü) will hit the road in support of his new album, Hot Wax . What's perhaps most intriguing about this album is the inclusion of accompanying artists inlcuding Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Silver Mt. Zion . When the epic nature of the classical-meets-post-rock meets a powerful 80s alt-guru like Hart, greatness is sure to ensue. Says Hart about the song "Narcissus, Narcissus": ...my first attempt at combining [...]

Ik keek verrast op toen ik las dat Vic Chesnutt na vele jaren op het New West label de overstap maakte naar Constellation van A Silver Mt. Zion-frontman Efrim. Maar het bleek met North Star Deserter te resulteren in een...

HORSE the Band garnered attention and a fan base through their unique sound which fused 18-bit Nintendo influences with post hardcore to create what the band named at the time, "Nintendo-core". The band have done what they can to get away from that style and that label before they become a one-trick pony. So where did they go to get away from themselves? Not far enough. On Desperate Living, their shiny new album, HTB have simply replaced the Nintendo samples and influences with random bits of electronic noise that teeters between obnoxious and down [...]
