PopMatters reviews the new Slaraffenland record "We're on your side" : http://www.popmatters.com/pm/r eview/114883-slaraffenland-wer e-on-your-side/
This slightly unclassifiable Danish quintet are good to have on your side, like a friend whose support is rock-solid if uneffusive. There's a tendency to think of joy, especially joy expressed via music, as a kind of mindlessness. Not that stupidity and happiness necessarily go together, but that real exultation is accompanied or caused by something that makes you stop thinking, that reflection is antithetical to simple pleasure. Sex, drugs, and (a certain kind of) rock 'n' roll are such a revered trinity precisely because they take you out of you own self for a while,...

Bandets tredje studioalbum, We're on your side , finns att köpa där man köper album. Pssst! Hata AIK. That is all Slaraffenland - My bad ways
I mean...where to begin? This is surely Danish quintet Slaraffenland's best composition (to my knowledge) to date, and being able to watch it in the beautifully produced context of a La Blogotheque show is a good way to fall in love yourself or swoon over the song anew. I swooned over it a ton in my review of We're On Your Side .

Pitchfork reviews Slaraffenland 's new record "We're on your side" : http://pitchfork.com/reviews/a lbums/13534-were-on-your-side/

hometapes : Way back when we started Hometapes, I don't think we ever could've imagined that we'd one day be working with artists (Slaraffenland) on the other side of the globe (Copenhagen) who in turn would create a long form film with a super-talented, acclaimed filmmaker ( Vincent Moon ). But that day has come. Today we present to you: TEMPORARY SLARAFFENLAND Shot in one day around the city of Copenhagen, the film showcases all of the songs from Slaraffenland's new album, "We're On Your Side." Think of it [...]

Temporary Slaraffenland from vincent moon / temporary areas on Vimeo . The other day my review of Slaraffenland 's We're On Your Side ran on Tiny Mix Tapes. I thought I was done with them, at least for a few weeks, and then THIS shows up on my doorstep: A film that accompanies WOYS in its entirety! [...]
Temporary Slaraffenland from vincent moon / temporary areas on Vimeo . this is such an incredible idea... copenhagen in 40 minutes.... an entire album literally reimagined on the fly... and an album just one month old, so that the average viewer must be experiencing this alternate version first... the image of the city as the first impression of the music, so that to think of we're on your side is to think of copenhagen. i have this same sort of connection with the soft bulletin and mark [...]

I've been really, really digging Slaraffenland since reviewing their debut album, Private Cinema , a few years back . and then following up on their, well, follow-up EP . They are foreigners with a keen sense of what to do with indie-rock; they know how to tweak things enough so they sound new and exciting, with an emphasis on percussion and horns. Their brand-new album, We're on Your Side ( read my Tiny Mix Tapes review HERE ), is another progression for them, one that [...]

I have a friend that's soon going to be a famous actress. This is not a lie. I woke up yesterday morning to find "Paranormal Activity" as the top Twitter trending topic. See, I have friends in high places, and soon you'll have to recognize that this is just how I roll. I eat fine cheeses and fly around in helicopters on the weekend. Brad Pitt sends me Christmas cards. Occasionally, I email the Olsen Twins about good music; I do this for fun and because people like me. Not really. But I'm absolutely stoked that my friend, [...]
This is an ever changing and (hopefully) expanding list of some of the songs I have mentioned before in this blog or simply stuff I have found somewhere on the web that I find interesting, but have no time to write about. All files have been found somewhere in cyberspace (and NONE of them have uploaded by me, so I cannot help you with any requests you might have - just keep returning and something new might pop up), so they will be available until the artists, record labels, fans, whatever decide to remove them. Thanks to a few readers, [...]
![Bombadil: Tarpits And Canyonlands [Album Review]](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2034737_lg.jpg)
There are a lot of swirling sounds within Bombadil 's Tarpits And Canyonlands . On one end it is minimalistic - stripped to its most basic components, "Sad Birthday" is piano and percussion with a slew of vocalists. But it's not minimal, as even two instruments can create a sound all-encompassing. Add the collective of vocalists and precisely placed hand claps and the result is a sound much like that of Slaraffenland. But Bombadil cannot be limited to mere comparisons - the light instrumentation and experimental folk sounds they dabble in are truly their [...]
Slaraffenland is Danish for "the land of milk and honey". Based in Copenhagen, Slaraffenland found its final formation in 2002: Christian Taagehøj, Mike Taagehøj, Bjørn Heebøll, Niklas Antonson and Jeppe Skjold. They expertly expanded on the guitar-bass-drums standard with brass and woodwind instruments, various racket-makers, and transfixing gang vocals. Many of them childhood friends (and Mike and Christian identical twins), they've spent years developing a sound that conjures everything from avant-garde to melodious addictive rock to haunting unison vocals. "We're On Your Side" is the third full-length album from the group. It is without doubt their [...]
