It's as if the song itself is grinning from ear to ear. And jumping up and down. ♫ Boy [...]

Justice , allegedly, released a new single yesterday. If it is authentic, they don't stray much from the sound that has made them famous, not that we would expect them to, but it is kind of a snoozer... Tropicalia - Beck & The Flaming Lips 10.14.02 - Bridges Auditorium, Clermont, CA This is an interesting one… When Beck announced he had hired the Flaming Lips to be the backup band/opening act for his latest tour, it seemed like the coolest marketing ploy of all time. The buzz was that Beck's latest record, the brilliantly somber Sea Change, was something of a snoozer — hiring a psychotic carnival like the Flaming Lips to back him up would not only liven up the gigs, but open up ticket sales to an entirely different audience. [...]
This is an interesting one… When Beck announced he had hired the Flaming Lips to be the backup band/opening act for his latest tour, it seemed like the coolest marketing ploy of all time. The buzz was that Beck's latest record, the brilliantly somber Sea Change, was something of a snoozer — hiring a psychotic carnival like the Flaming Lips to back him up would not only liven up the gigs, but open up ticket sales to an entirely different audience. Gradually, though, a new perspective began to emerge. Maybe this was a chance for Beck's longtime fans [...]

Well, our pants remained tightly fastened around our waist during American Idol 's Chicago auditions. But we actually would've been more comfortable wearing jammies — the Windy City turned out to be kind of a snoozer, as the judges discovered only enough talent to hand out 13 golden tickets. Even the trainwreck performers were nothing to write home about by AI standards. Yet we still managed to find some gems to GIF for you. And (drumroll please) now our Idol GIFs are embeddable! Post 'em where you please. Below: a "deep dish" of Chicago-style [...]
Ok, so surprise surprise Katia the snoozer is up for this weeks Celebrity Big Brother eviction, she is possibly the most boring human being who has ever graced a television screen. Seriously what has the girl done either than fart and shack up with, surprise surprise another man who has a bob or two in his pocket, and they don't even have the decency to grope at each other so we can see, it's all that under the cover tomfoolery. Booooorrrrriiinnnng! Anyhow, the only reason I'm giving that waste of oxygen a mention is because.. [...]

Today's the day when all nail technicians in the world should head out of the beauty parlor and peep buy the nearest record shop to buy an album. That album I have in mind is Melisa Young's aka. Kid Sister's long awaited debut "Ultraviolet" released today on Fool's Gold / Downtown Records. Can't think of a better way to show reciprocity actually, cause not ever since the days of the sprinter Florence "Flo Jo" Griffith-Joyner, someone have had that form of impact on women all over to start pay attention to their nails and getting flipped nail designs did. [...]

Robin Thicke called working with Jay-Z for "Meiplé" as " a dream come true ." If it was so important, I wonder why they created a snoozer of a track? Sure it's very lighthearted & breezy, but there's none of Thicke's signature vocal stylings here, just mere talking over the track. It sounds "fun"...but not "good." I want the panty-dropper material, not this. With guests such as Kid CuDi, Snoop & Estelle slated for his upcoming Sex Therapy, let's hope that Thicke puts them all on one track, gets the Hip-Hop out of the [...]

First of all, I want to thank all of you who have been digg-ing and Stumble-Uponing these posts. Their popularity is the reason I keep doing them so regularly. 1. Marvel/Lionsgate just released a box set Marvel Animation's 6 DVD movies. Thought I'd let you know whether it's worth the price. Inside, you'll get: Ultimate Avengers 1. A pretty faithful (but abbreviated and somewhat sanitized) rendition of the Ultimates comic book, focusing on the Avengers-vs-Hulk-vs-aliens story. Excellent animation and voicework, well-paced story, perfect for all ages. A+. [...]

Blk Jks Play Spaceland On Thursday Nights like Thursday are just a cruel joke to live music fans. It's another insane week of shows - old legends, new legends, 90's heroes and current Pitchfork darlings. I caught Polvo last Saturday. The problems I had with their set list a few months back at the Echoplex were corrected. Great set. They played everything I wanted to hear. Monday 10/12/09 [Pick of the Night] Light FM [...]
Season five American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee has a new hair color (she's a blonde) to go along with her new album, which is currently slated to come out in the new year (its release date is 01/05/10, making it the first specific 2010 release date to cross my transom). I actually liked a few tracks on McPhee's first album-the Kara DioGuardi/Danja-penned "Love Story" really should have been a bigger hit-but "Say Goodbye," Unbroken 's first single, is a bit of a snoozer that sounds like it was crafted for Lite-FM playlists circa [...]

I took a mental health day yesterday after I had a long office meeting and decided to go to the Rockies day game. I'm extremely excited of how well they're doing and I hope they go on to win the series in San Francisco next week. Baseball is demanding everybody's attention 'round these parts. Partly, due to the lack of excitement the Broncos have yet to show the town. Football is officially here, and last night's game was a bit of a snoozer. Defensive minded teams aren't much fun to watch. [...]
The Duke and The King is the undertaking of Simone Felice (of The Felice Brothers) and his friends Robert Chicken Burke and (Black Jim) Nowell Haskins. The band name comes from the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , the album title from a Robert Frost poem of the same name and the inspiration from a dark, emotionally heavy winter in which Simone lost a baby girl to a miscarriage. After seeing Simone live with his brothers several times, I expected to hear lyrics full of boozin', gamblin', cheatin' and stealin', backed by loosely played instruments and booze-drenched raucous [...]
Wilco were profiled on CBS Sunday Morning, a decidedly un-alternative show, this weekend. It's a pretty hilarious segment, especially the way that the woman profiling them does the voiceovers with a voice that suggests every sentence ending with a wink. I'm not sure I buy the thesis of this segment though, since Wilco are about as huge as a decent-to-great rock band can be (terrible bands like Nickelback are obviously huger), and I would never, ever describe them as a "cult" band. But still, Wilco: breaking through to the mainstream Sunday morning snoozer TV shows. [ Consequence of Sound ]

Adrienne Bailon " Superbad ": For today's Unnecessary Leak From A Dime Piece, sepia semi-nude Adrienne Bailon drops this horrendous reach on the masses. Why we needed another synth-driven, Auto-Tune laced club snoozer is beyond me. Tracks like this either get quickly forgotten, or become the anthem of the clubs for the rest of the summer. Hopefully this falls in line with the former, not the latter. MP3 via Music Is The Heart Of Our Soul .
