Space DJz was an offshoot of Bandulu, comprising Ben Long and Jamie Bissmere. Expect dub techno. London style. From their Mute Records biog: "You know, we're really influenced by Crosby, Stills and Nash." You what? A new genre springs to mind, country techno, but wait - the best is yet to come. "And I really like Beck." A comic pause that could put Les Dawson to shame hangs in the air like a bad fart. "Yeah, Jeff Beck." You see, these lads are not the usual run of [...]

Donald Trump has pretty much summed up what everyone else is thinking. When Carrie Prejean called him for advice, he told her to release the sex tape and make the dough. After making "the biggest mistake of her life", doing a solo sex tape (or eight), she tucked her tail between her legs and shut up about her lawsuit against the Miss California pageant. Now, she's dialing up the one man who she thought would give her [...]

God Help The Girl - Stills An update email from God Help The Girl , brimming with news on the tour, a new EP, the film and more. Here goes: "The second installment of songs from last year's recordings is now available digitally. The 'Stills' EP features five songs which didn't make the album, but which were recorded at the same time in Glasgow, with some orchestral parts being added in [...]

God Help the Girl, Stuart Murdoch's side project, have announced that they are to play the The Usher Hall in Edinburgh on Sunday the 29 th November, so that will be less than two weeks away then. this unique show will be their last ever show, the evening promises to be a unique event which sees the band taking part in a BBC Scotland curated show along with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, playing the music from 'A History of Scotland', alongside such Scottish luminaries as Eddi Reader and McIntosh Ross (ex-Deacon [...]

The Austrian producer pulls out all the stops and has a truly worldwide party. Cheers! There are few pop music embarrassments more humiliating than trying too hard to sound fresh and falling flat. Likewise, mashing sounds and styles together with little apparent focus may earn you elite status with certain blogs and websites, but it rarely produces music anyone wants to hear more than twice. The line between eclectic and pathetic is often a thin one, which is why you've probably heard of Vampire Weekend and Gorillaz, while the Stills...

I can honestly say I'm a fan of pretty much everything Emily Haines has done so far, musically. There is Metric of course, and there is her solo stuff, but there's also - let's not forget - her many wonderful collaborations. Some, like " Anthems for a 17-year Old Girl ", seem to be universally loved while others, like " Stopwatch Hearts " or " Uptown Girl ", are less well known. From her songs with Stars and The Stills, to her involvement in Crystal Method and even Tiesto projects - it seems that this is one musician who cannot [...]

New York based artist Marilyn Minter is back at it again. After what seems like almost too long of a time since her 2005 exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, which focused on "hyperrealistic close-ups of seemingly glamorous images, including makeup-laden lips, eyes, and toes" (her words) and received rave reviews, Minter has returned with similar themes in Green Pink Caviar . Green Pink Caviar is a short film focused on Minter's fascination with the body and pop culture, and while there is no explicit [...]
Some voices were just meant to be together. We realized that pretty quickly when listening to Everyone Is Someone , the third album of striking folk/pop from Toronto's Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine , AKA Dala . It's actually fitting that the their name should come from combining the last syllable of their first names since their sound is so dependent on the intricate juxtaposition of their lovely voices in harmony. Like The Indigo Girls, The Webb [...]
Belle and Sebastian front man (if you can call him that) has had a side project/new band God Help the Girl for a while now but a new EP is out and it is wonderful. Stuart Murdoch apparently is using these songs in a musical film as well according to Pitchfork which sounds rather intriguing. God Help The Girl stick to their throwback sound on this EP but with light and airy melodies and pick me up musicality. A nice jaunt through a flea market rubbing elbows with the different people all in the world. [...]
Paramore are releasing a new single from their recent third album, brand new eyes , to celebrate their return to the UK, this time in its arenas. 'Brick By Boring Brick' will be unleashed upon iTunes and wherever else they sell music these days on 23 November. Small, ginger frontwoman Hayley Williams said something on her Twitter about the video being finished: I just checked out our (almost finished) video! Don't be sittin' there all jealous like that. Though, it was [...]

Yesterday small samples from Lady GaGa's upcoming "The Fame Monster" EP" emerged, then later Amazon provided 30-second clips of each song. Here's some clips of the songs that haven't been leaked yet: Lady GaGa - 'Monster' (prod. by RedOne) Lady GaGa - 'Speechless' (prod. by Ron Fair) Lady GaGa - 'So Happy I Could Die' (prod. by RedOne) Lady GaGa - 'Teeth' (prod. by Teddy Riley) Absolutely LOVE 'So Happy I Could Die'. I'm so hooked on GaGa [...]
Watch the new video for Sahra Motalebi's haunting song "Migrators". The stark stills of Motalebi and what appears to be destroyed art installations in a warehouse adds to the already teeming sense of melancholy.

The Morgue Party Candidate I'm still in two mind as to whether this is one of the best or worst names for a band that I have heard in ages, but the one thing is for sure their EP 'Good Morning, Good Night' is pretty damn good, and it's available for free here . If you like what you hear and you are going to the Define Pop [...]

During Nine Inch Nails "Wave Goodbye" tour, the band set out to play The Downward Spiral for the first time live front to back at Webster Hally NY. Unfortunately, Live Nation would not let them professionally record the show. Reznor however encouraged fans to bring their own cameras/recording devices - with an "open camera policy". The fans over at The NIN Hotline & This Is On Us put together various fans recordings of the show. The result is an incredible HD video of the whole show, with many raw angles and great sound. [...]
Well, it's Friday and you know what that means. Yes, my Oriental fille de shmeckel-bopping Fah Lo Suee and I will be heading to the Canadian border, where we plan to bar the suddenly unemployed Lou Dobbs from entering illegally. Sorry, Lou -- you will not pass!!! It'll be sort of like 300 , only not as screamingly gay and with health insurance. Sooo, as a result, posting by moi will be sporadic for a couple of days. But in the meantime, here's a fun [...]
