Nik Frattaroli – Under Attack EP

Nik Frattaroli – Under Attack EP The young Sangoma Music imprint from Cambridge is ready to drop their number two. This time turning to label honcho Nik Frattaroli for the goods, with only Rio Padice stepping up to the remix plate. Frattaroli being an ex Mancunian, has house music running through his blood stream and a heavy supply of cultural influence to rely on for inspiration, which shows through in every moment of the record. Tipping his hat to the true sound of Manchester on Clear Blue with a smooth acid bass line that doesn't get too self indulgent reaffirming his strong [...]

Shabazz Palaces Remix Battles

Battles - White Electric (Shabazz Palaces Remix) taken from Dross Glop 2
A remix from the new Battles Gloss Drop remix 123 series, which I blogged about last month . This Shabazz Palaces remix comes from the 2nd installment of this series. The Alchemist and Kode9 are also featured on this 123. Grab tracks from the series on Bleep.

preview :: Evy Jane - Evy Jane 12"

preview :: Evy Jane - Evy Jane 12" Evelyn Mason and Jeremiah Klein make up the Vacouver-based R&B experiment, Evy Jane . Their soon to be released 12" features two originally composed recordings and two reworks of each the numbers. The EP's title track finds itself nestled into a sub-terrain of Evelyn's mind-bending precision to effortlessly lay her words on gallantly gaping floating rhythm provided by the kinetics of Mr.Klein. 'SAYSO' also gets remix treatment from Taal Mala which is featured last on the release. The second track, 'Ohso', is an electrifying paradigm of just how gripping and exciting this [...]

Vince Watson – Interference EP

Vince Watson – Interference EP Vince Watson is renowned for producing music expressing raw emotion and feelings from the heart. His latest efforts for Tresors whopping 244th release is no deviation from this expectation. The Glaswegian producer has had techno running through his veins since an early age and can throw down a pure, unrivaled sound that many others could only dream of. The title track pays homage to the crude techno sounds Watson is so accustomed to, however it's the B Side that really takes the cake for me. The Secret relies on rhythmic delays and techno drums to keep [...]

Theory Celebrate 40th Release With Ben Sims – Slow Motion EP

Theory Celebrate 40th Release With Ben Sims – Slow Motion EP Skudge remix of Slow Motion at 1 hour 14 minutes. After a huge response in Marcel Fenglers Berghain mix, Slow Motion is set for release on Sims' very own Theory imprint this March with a huge remix package boasting works from Skudge, Robert Hood & Rolando. After an extended hiatus in 2011, it's now clear that both Theory & Ben Sims were preparing for both his debut LP Smoke & Mirrors, and this almighty 40th release. A heavyweight number suited for only the darkest of caverns and the truest of sound systems. Swedish duo [...]

Detroit Swindle – The Wrap Around EP

Detroit Swindle – The Wrap Around EP The sophomore record is usually the deciding factor for a new record label, and with Ethyl & Huxley kicking things off for Saints & Sonnets last year. It was no mean feat to trump the London labels debut. Enter Detroit Swindle, although being strongly influenced by the worlds most famous motor city, the pair actually hail from a city famous for another kind of smoke. Amsterdam. Saints & Sonnets was destined for success from the start. Their awesome debut 3 Feet High was a highlight for a lot of DJ's last year receiving heavy support from all the [...]

Unknown Artist – The Remixes EP (BrEach & Coat Of Arms)

Unknown Artist – The Remixes EP (BrEach & Coat Of Arms) This latest release from Pets Recordings is a bit of a strange concept, but excellent nonetheless. Choosing not to disclose the original artist behind these tracks, instead shining the spotlight on those chosen to remix. Previously releasing another remix record, for Claude Von Stroke's, Dirtybird imprint. BrEach is clearly quite fond of the crude side of electronic music, the Dirtybird release packed full of tribal bangers. Thankfully (for my liking anyway) he has ventured down the path of deep house for Pets and delivers two stunning remixes. Man of the moment, Eats [...]

INITIALS 01

INITIALS 01 It's always an exciting, yet cautious experience when listening to a new labels debut record. There is also a hope that the label is going to be excellent and that they've signed the next big thing in their particular niche. However, nine times out of ten. That mentality leads to much disappointment and a truckload of shit music in your email. Luckily for me, Initials is exactly what I'd look for in a new label. Signing an unknown artist, with plenty of talent and taste. Combined with the experience of running several other successful labels, and some trippy [...]

Locked Groove – Rooted EP

Locked Groove – Rooted EP Long awaited, and much anticipated. The debut release for Belgian wünderkind, Locked Groove , is an immense concoction of genre bending dancefloor heat. As you would expect from HotFlush, the record incorporates the intensity of techno, soulful house sounds and vocals and the off kilter UK drums. It's surely the most exciting time for electronic music in a long long time. You may recognise the second track, Drowning, from the excellent Scuba DJ KiCKS . Personally, I can hear myself rinsing Change. Somehow, although oft overdone, he has utilised a sweet vocal from what [...]

Roxy Music Remixed By Todd Terje, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas

Roxy Music Remixed By Todd Terje, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas If Todd Terje isn't the man to be right now, I don't know who is. The Norwegian producer is going from strength to strength with his latest original record just being released to expected acclaim from DJ's and critics alike. The Vinyl Factory seems to be fond of the Oslo disko sound of the moment, as they commissioned fellow Norwegians, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas for the B Side. Both sides are equally essential to make the 180 gram pressing worth it's weight in gold, with Terje turning the '75 classic into a modern sounding, [...]

AUDIO: Graf Cratedigger – Okno (feat. 12-Mic)/Dark City (Poland) A couple of beats from Polish producer Graf Cratedigger. Some eerie vibes and dope drums for you to lend your ears to. Check his summer release here . As for 12-Mic, well, I can't understand what he's saying but flow is universal right? SBTRKT – Hold On 12″ Release & Ride To Freedom

SBTRKT – Hold On 12″ Release & Ride To Freedom News just in from Young Turks, SBTRKT will be releasing one of my favourite cuts from the album as a 12" early in 2012. Hold On, featuring the vocal talents of youngster Sampha, was no doubt a stand out emotive piece of music from the self titled debut of Aaron Jeromes, SBTRKT moniker. The twelve inch release will also feature a brand new track Ride To Freedom on the flip, a short and exciting track not dissimilar to the album track, Sanctuary. It seems as though Jerome has taken a slightly more upfront approach for recent [...]

Humandrone EP

Humandrone EP In all fairness, this is the first time I'd hear the name Burek. A record label started by Croatian producer, Pytzek. Though relatively young, the label has already garnered support from respectable names due to their debut release from 909/808 maestro, KiNK. Since then, Burek has clocked up another two releases, from Humandrone and Madcap respectively. The Japanese acid producer, Humandrone, has put forward an excellent sophomore for the label. Delivering a combination of organic drums and acid that isn't too face melting. A great recipe indeed. Surf Around is no doubt my pick of the bunch but [...]

D'Marc Cantu – Fallen LP

D'Marc Cantu – Fallen LP Here is a classy LP any house head, will need to get their hands on. Unlike a lot of artist albums that disappoint upon the first listen, D'Marc Cantu has stuck to his jacking instincts and produced an absolute dancefloor necessity. After successful releases this year with his 2AMFM Saturn V & X2 aliases, it's a wonder D'Marc found time to piece together such a solid debut. It seems as though he has found a home with fine taste merchants, Creme Organization. If you're the shallow browser, be sure to take note of the crude [...]
