Tweet It's hard to believe it's been four years since Portland folk group Blind Pilot released its 2008 debut "3 Rounds and a Sound" which, while incredibly enjoyable, had a tendency to sound incredibly similar from song to song and come across as too long. But instead of rushing to complete a mediocre follow up, the group come back leaner and more well-versed in the pop sensibilities that would have elevated Blind Pilot's debut from good album to great album. Blind Pilot is a great band. I had the opportunity to see them live earlier this month when they played in Ann Arbor. I had their single "Go On, Say It" from a sampler CD, and I really liked it, and since I was volunteering at the venue, I didn't have to buy a ticket so I couldn't possibly lose in this situation...free live music, can't get much better than that. There is something about Portland these days....a number of bands/artists based in that city have grabbed my attention this past year...and Blind Pilot is no different. This duo is Israel Nebeker (guitar, vocals) and Ryan Dobrowski (drums). If there is any album I would recommend to go out and immediately buy right this minute, it would be "3 Rounds and a Sound". Blind Pilot is basically made up of 2 guys; Israel Nebeker and Ryan Dobrowski. I cannot even begin to describe how beautiful their music from 3 Rounds and a Sound . They do indie-folk music kinda thing so it's my favourite genre. And definitely by far one of the more outstanding folk outfits of the year.ALSO, they're pretty cool too because they just completed their tour in the US by bicycles.
