In 2009 Raleigh Documentary Filmmakers Robert and Lisa King chronicled three area artists Sean Kernick, Georges Le Chevallier and Paul Friedrich as the experimented with a collaboration process that produced 29 unique works of art. The film 3 the Hardway, not only follows their growth as artist but as friends. They are reuniting to collaborate on a series of fundraisers to help Robert King and his battle with an anaplastic astrocytoma brain tumor. Yesterday was the 15th Annual Westword Music Showcase and one of the best turnouts I've seen at this Denver event. The Colorado Rap Report has sent in their free compilation of Colorado's Hip Hop finest. "Songs of the Colorado Rap Report" is a mix of a bunch of brand new underground music from CO and is a great example of the kind of music they're releasing these days. This album features music from Whygee, Ichiban, Maneline, 3 The Hardway, Distrakt, 1865, Sunken State, The Pirate Signal, and many others. Rapper / DJ / producer crew 3 The Hardway are on the verge of releasing their new album 'Set in Stone'. The lead single of that album is 'Mainstage' which features Likwit Crew main man Defari (my favourite rapper-who-I've-not yet-checked-properly). This, to me is pretty much how Hip Hop should be: Rhymes about making it (but maybe not always that), scratches and a headnod beat.
