The idiosyncratic, gravel-voiced alternative singer-songwriter extraordinaire Mark Lanegan has finally stopped tooling around with Isobel Campbell long enough to return with a record of his own. Unfortunately, it stretches Lanegan out in a way that personally pains me. This is the first Lanegan record that I am thoroughly unexcited to ever hear again. Read more »
Fresh off last week's cutie-cameo on Portlandia , Annie Clark ( St. Vincent ) premiered her newest video for "Cheerleader," the most-recent single from the Dallas-native's acclaimed third LP Strange Mercy . Watch the video of a giantess Clark below, and grab the aforementioned album now via 4AD .

Mark Lanegan Band Blues Funeral 4AD Records [2012] Fire Note Says: Mark Lanegan makes a solid addition to his solo catalog with the grooving Blues Funeral ! Album Review: It really doesn't seem like it has been that long since we have heard a record from Mark Lanegan considering he has been very musically active with the Greg Dulli combo of the Gutter Twins and The [...]

Click here to download 'Give It Up' or listen to it at musicfromthebigpink.com . I strongly recommend the new album " Future This ".

Blues Funeral is only the second full album to be credited to the Mark Lanegan Band (following 2004's minor commercial breakthrough Bubblegum ), but it follows on from a near unbroken string of long players with his involvement that stretches back to Screaming Trees' 1986 debut. Despite its title, Blues Funeral is nowhere near the stark blues album one would expect, and in many places it's far from a rock album too. At the time of Bubblegum's release, Lanegan spoke about his lack of interest in replicating blues forms musically, even as [...]

El pasado 16 de enero salióFuture This el segundo LP de The Big Pink. Ya hemos escuchado dos sencillos de esta nueva producción y ahora nos regalan "Give It Up" que parece será su tercer sencillo. Enjoy. ♩ The Big Pink - Give It Up
[mp3] Mark Lanegan: "The Gravedigger's Song" While nowhere near true experts on Mark Lanegan's full career catalog dating back to his role as frontman for Screaming Trees, his new album Blues Funeral (2/7 4AD) has been on fairly constant rotation at Stark HQ. Dark, brooding, dramatic and well-written Blues Funeral's lead track "The Gravedigger's Song" got the video treatment last week directed by Alistair Legrand and produced by Jack Richardson.
Sinister. Creepy. Unsettling. These are just a few words that I would use to describe Mark Lanegan Band's latest video for "The Gravedigger's Song" from the upcoming album, Blues Funeral , out February 7th on 4AD. The video was directed by Alistair Legrand and produced by Jack Richardson / The Masses. The song itself is best described as Tom Waits going industrial. Watch it below. Read more »

"Genesis"?

Teen-beat are re-releasing Unrest's PERFECT TEETH , no cheap jewel case shenanigans mind, but a beautifully boxed collection of six coloured 7 inch records with extra tracks. Hats off to you Marky Robinson … it looks so lush… if I wasn't so strapped I'd grab one off you… Really loved this album back in the day, shit that was a long time ago must be 17 years, seems like yesterday... those poppy hooks and that jangled sizzle, grabbing the focus, simple songs full of mileage. Now Imperial FFRR will always [...]

The Big Pink Future This 4AD Records [2012] Fire Note Says: Sophomore outing from The Big Pink has its moments but doesn't rival their exciting debut. Album Review: Trying to follow up a stellar debut is something that every successful new band struggles with and more times than not - the group misses the mark. I believe you can add London's The Big Pink to the list [...]
Blending soaring guitar riffs with bouncy synths that meet in harmony for a sing-a-long chorus, The Big Pink may be staking a claim as the next arena rock gods. Read more »
Future This is The Big Pink's second album and is the follow up to the critically acclaimed A Brief History of Love. The albums first two tracks 'Stay Gold' and 'Hit The Ground (Superman)' are a very strong duo of tracks that help kick off the album. Future This will be made available widely physically and digitally on January 17 via 4AD.
More good news from The Big Pink: Ahead of the release of their second album, Future This, The Big Pink have recorded a set of five songs as part of the 4AD Sessions series. Go here to watch and listen. I had goosebumps as soon I heard the opener, one of my favs. Track-list: 1. 'Stay Gold' 2. 'Hit The Ground (Superman)' 3. 'Velvet' 4. 'Rubbernecking' 5. 'Give It Up'

The English duo perform five songs live for their label 4AD.

The Big Pink return with a record that is like a mix of tuneful football anthems laid across 80s electronic pop and widescreen, swirling synth-lines. You need only travel less than a minute into opening track Stay Gold for the twosome to start shouting in a melodious manner. And when things get a little deeper, like on closer 77 , it's a bit like Joe Strummer performing on an X-Factor backing track. The duo, Milo Cordell and Robbie Furze, hired Adele Producer Paul Epworth for this, their sophomore record, suggesting they are more than aware [...]
