Austin resident, Morgan Sorne has a band that projects tribal gospels in a gothic opera-esque manner called SORNE . With two others supporting him in SORNE, the band was previously on tour with TV On The Radio . This year, they're set to self release a second full length album titled Ego Alter -- a record dedicated to his father. Hear the forthcoming track we're premiering today, "Blessed Redeemer". Sorne's potent voice empowers the minimal avant pop throughout the song; as bells begin to ring, a massive progression appears that is spiritually elevating you from the ground with the mesmerizing [...]

It’s that ’56 sound. Haywalkers hail from Helsinki, but their sound takes you directly to a tiny recording studio at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee. The spirit of Sun Records is present in the band’s debut single, which pairs a surf-inspired instrumental The Snake with the stomping two-and-a-half minutes of Crazy.

Today marks the 50th birthday of Kirk Hammett, former guitarist with Exodus, celebrated horse rider , premium sporter of curly hair in metal, Christmas fanatic , oh, and lead guitarist in some little old outfit known as Metallica. So in the best tradition of Sunday Slaylists, this week we're running a special birthday tribute to the man often described as "the third most important member of Metallica". Yep. Of course, since Metallica don't allow their catalogue to appear on Spotify, this week we're falling back on a YouTube [...]
To celebrate 50 years of James Bond and, of course, this week's new Bond film Skyfall, A.Skillz and Krafy Kuts were invited by Annie Mac to create a special mini mix of all of the classic Bond themes and one-liners. I think we can all agree this is the definitive 007 mash-up.
Brooklyn electro-rock band Chappo has come a long way since I saw them play Dynasty Electric's loft party a number of years ago. The band released their debut LP, Moonwater , earlier this year via Majordomo Records (an imprint of Shout! Factory), which Consequence of Sound described as " explor[ing] the simple splendor of youth through their wide-eyed storytelling and space-y instrumentation, sounding like MGMT coming down off a great acid trip. " The band just released a new video for "5-0" (below) and are screening the video on October 21st at a rooftop [...]

G-Eazy's seriously unique brand of hip-hop just got the perfect music video for his track "Plastic Dreams (ft. Johanna Fay)". We featured the audio for this track that has is signature 502s doo wop influence that he always seems to pull off. His James Dean swag really comes through strong in this video, matching the track well. Enjoy! G-Eazy - Plastic Dreams (Ft. Johanna Fay) | iTunes Be Sure to Follow G-Eazy through Facebook

Retro is back with a vengeance this summer thanks to Prada. We’re going back to the 50s, so think Glamour Hollywood a la Marilyn Monroe with her beautiful size fourteen curves, alongside Sandy and the Pink Ladies from Grease. Pretty prints are a must, as is polka dot patterns and wide brimmed floppy hats. Miu Miu is also a designer to look out for with this trend, especially with their range of handbags and funky sunglasses. Other designers which have run this 50s trend are Richard Chai and DKNY. For high street inspiration, head to Topshop [...]

Sweet natured fairground pop with icicles stuck to its back pocket, this is good old-fashioned '50s pop homage, the kind which only a few bands - Cross Queen included - know how to perform with such aplomb. The whole of the Coral Springs duo's EP is of delightful nostalgic quality, but ' Days In A Daze ' is the strongest attempt to take me back to an era I wouldn't know existed were it not for cinema and dinner table conversations. Days in a Daze by [...]

Rarely does an artist's work speak to me on such a profound level that I must own, at least try to, as many originals as I can. In this case, Danny Heller brings that sensation to me. I can't explain how Danny's work speaks to me. Danny's work floods me with nostalgic memories of very specific moments in my life that have happened. They weren't epic moments of anything crazy. Just life. There's a calm, simple, serenity to his work that reassures me that the choices I've made living in Southern California couldn't have been better. The above examples are [...]

The shining star of the 50’s doo-wop hip hop, G-Eazy , has come out with another gem in “Mad”. Featuring the delicate vocals of Devon Baldwin on the hook, the track is another wonderful throwback to the respectable and heartfelt times of yesteryear. Production and artwork both work the perfect combo of classic and hip, as always. I truthfully didn’t love G-Eazy’s past single “Runaround Sue”, so I’m glad the rapper has to my good graces here.
I've neglected Newdust over the past few months to focus on school, and I feel terrible. But guess who graduated? This guy. Anyways, enough horn tooting. I was reviewing ketones in my urinalysis notes, the chemical formed from the catabolism of fatty acids, and a common finding in the urine of patients who are starving, fasting, [...]
