I love it when something so unique and awesome gets thrown my way in my inbox. JOYWAVE's 77777 mixtape is one of those things. The mixtape features JOYWAVE's own vocals over instrumentals that sample everything from Miike Snow to Pet Shop Boys, Flaming Lips to LCD Soundsystem, and everything in between. There is even a few original JOYWAVE tracks as well as a few covers featured in the mixtape. The song's are a relaxing blend of ambient sounds and chill harmonies provided by the band. So far it seems like the first few months of 2011 have been dominated either by atrociously hilarious pop (you know who I'm talking about), unbelievably awesome comebacks (Beastie Boys), or soul-crushing mixtapes. A recurring theme on the those mixtapes is the mixtaper's ability to make trite and once-enjoyable-but-now-just-a- parody-of-themselves music, listenable again.
