Spinning Platters is re-running our 2010 podcast with the late Steve Brodsky. He passed away last night after a hearty battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was the manager for many great bands, such as Wallpaper., Midi Matilda, Orgone, and AB & The Sea. He was also a really great guy and a very early [...] The post In Tribute To Steve Brodsky (RIP): Spinning Platters Podcast Episode 16 - #twitterstalking appeared first on Spinning Platters .
SF local darlings A B and the Sea and Brooklyn’s fuzz-pop Pains of Being Pure at Heart were about to play to a sold-out show, and it sure as hell felt like it.

Everyone has "that local band" that you wish to become mega-huge so you can say, "I knew these guys before they were on KCRW!" I have a quite a long list of those bands and some have made it and some haven't. One of those acts currently in the "in-between" right now is Oakland's Wallpaper. Eric Fredric's (aka Ricky Reed) disco ball freak-out fest combines the mindlessness fun of current pop music with a bite of tongue-in-cheek humor with well produced jams. So it was nice to see this unusual act celebrate their #STUPiDFACEDD EP release [...]
Wallpaper's blend of electronic triggers and crackin' kick drums kept fans on point and partying at GAMH.
Hey Summer, meet A B & the Sea. They make us want to be celebrating you all year long. Fact.
Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: A B and the Sea Video: 'In the Sunshine' Highlight: "The video was a breeze to shoot," lead singer Koley O'Brien tells Spinner. "Frank [Door] and his team at Element 151 were so on point, all we had to do was show up and play football on the beach. The final cut perfectly captures the feeling that we want fans to get from the song -- that almost surreal sense of freedom that comes with [...]

Click image to download track Sounds like: Sonny and the Sunsets, The Morning Benders "AB & The Sea - In The Sunshine" What's so good? We in San Francisco know the incredible power of sunshine. Because, well, we don't always get to see it that often (at least in the summer months). So when it really comes out (like it did last week!), there's not much we can do but go into full vacation mode. Giddy moods, daytime drinking, [...]

Each week on Fresh Meat, I try to have some cohesive theme that ties together the featured songs. Sometimes however, it is a bit difficult to stick to one specific genre or theme, and instead a variety of songs are featured... which is exactly what is happening this week. So instead of grasping for straws, this week's round-up is essentially a variety of indie genres. Hey, what better music to feature with a name like Indie Shuffle? Sure, you can throw the word "indie" in front of most genres (i.e. pop, rock, electronic, alternative) and call it [...]
I can not get this hook out of my head... Cali surf-rockers, A B & The Sea , have released a video to their latest track, "In the Sunshine." If this song doesn't get under your skin, you probably don't have any. enjoY!
Ah, to be young and carefree. Damn those A B & The Sea boys.
Here come the slew of summer songs, they are springing up all over the place and occupying every corner of the internet at the moment. The latest one comes from a band I came across last year, with their song full of hand clapping goodness, "Bone Dry". While I don't remember them sounding quite this much like pop music, it's still nice to hear something new from them. Even though the highs all week are around 60 degrees here in Boston, this video is packed with enough summer footage to keep you warm, or at least make you jealous. You [...]
Poppy, exuberant, and really catchy, AB & the Sea released a new video today for their brand new single 'In the Sunshine.' I have been following these midwestern turned west coasters for a while now, they keep pounding out really catchy melodious tracks. This is the most pop-accessible I've heard from them, which usually deters me, but go ahead and give it a spin. It's hard to turn it off. More AB & the Sea
Polished in fitted blazers and collared shirts, the local heart throbs have garnered an extremely loyal fan base over recent years; their retro-beachy vibe, A B and the Sea could easily be the band playing an under the sea themed prom for the class of 1964.

A B & The Sea. The up-and-coming quintet with the deceptively spelled name hails from both San Francisco and Winneconne, Wisconsin. I’d watch these guys if I were you; they’ve got their shit together. With their beachy California vibes, 60s-retro theme and clean-cut vocal harmonies, A B & The Sea come off as some professional motherfuckers (uh…“exude a tidy professionalism beyond their years”). They’ve even got their own font for chrissakes. Currently they’re unsigned, but I can’t see them staying under the radar much longer. They’ve already shared stages with the likes of The Morning Benders, Edward Sharpe [...]

I know that you thought that Noise Pop ending means that you can take some time off... But that was before you learned that Stryper were coming to town. STRYPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! Thursday, March 3rd Wild Nothing, Abe Vigoda at Rickshaw Stop Popscene seems to be settling into it's new home nicely, and the live shows are [...]
Someone's gotta wipe that weird taste of Kirk Douglas out of your post Oscar mouth

Tweet I always get a little nervous at the prospect of seeing a favorite artist play without the comfort of a backing band. On some level, I think, a solo performance is inherently a struggle, with one individual responsible for keeping the crowd entertained, or, at the least, preventing its attention from getting distracted elsewhere. I've seen more solo sets than I care to admit fade behind audience conversations and noise from the bar, or drag in uncomfortable between-song silences. Given the king's welcome [...]

Baby You - A B & The Sea Baby You - A B & The Sea ( Free Download / Buy ) I have no doubt that when Wisconsin natives A B & The Sea (@abandthesea) made the trek over to San Francisco to jumpstart their career, California greeted them with open arms. These days, the guys are soaking up the sun and harnessing it to create quintessential surf pop, garnering attention with their brand new EP Run Run Run. Their sound [...]
