A smooth sailing, easy to digest debut from this Los Angeles duo and power couple.
Clips from two essential albums ( Acid Tongue and Dear Science ) released about this time two years ago. And if two years is too arbitrary for you then Dave Sitek's solo effort just dropped, as did Jenny Lewis' first turn as part of Jenny and Johnny, I'm Having Fun Now .
Indie darlings team up for pop and romance. Pop music - Arts - Music - Jenny Lewis - Romance

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars What can we expect when our favorite artists fall in love and write music together? It didn't work for Yoko and John, but would it work for Rilo Kiley songstress Jenny Lewis and her beau, Johnathan Rice? Well, I'm Having Fun Now, the first album under the Jenny and Johnny moniker, really sums up the attitude of the duo, as that spirit, at least musically, [...]

The Jenny and Johnny tour added a few shows that bring the duo a little closer to our part of the world. All told, the editors have seen Jenny Lewis on-stage as part of Rilo Kiley and in support of Acid Tongue . She's a natural stage presence and about as close to a must-see as you'll get.

Jenny Lewis has premiered yet another track off her sophomore solo album, " Acid Tongue ". The Rilo Kiley frontwoman has released the video for ' See Fernando '. ' Acid Tongue ' is out now. Jenny Lewis ' See Fernando '
Black Sand It's hard to believe, but this is actually the first video from Jenny Lewis ' latest, Acid Tongue [ Our Review ]. Any way you slice it, I will take Jenny's face "projected over beachy scenes, deserts, Thailand, and weather maps" (as Amrit at Stereogum so aptly put it ) and since she's also a total doll, we like talking about her in a positive way. Nothing but positives here!

Jenny Lewis - Tryin' My Best When Jenny Lewis released her solo debut, Rabbit Fur Coat , two years ago, she felt safe in the knowledge that little was riding on it. Had the low-budget independent release failed to impress, there was always the success of Rilo Kiley to return to. Yet not only did the album outsell anything the Californian band ever released, but the one thing that reviews for the group's subsequent album could agree on was Lewis' potential star quality. [...]
![No. 74: Jenny Lewis, "Acid Tongue" [80 '08 (And Heartbreak)]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1397579_lg.jpg)
In the era of Autotune, Jenny Lewis went analog. Acid Tongue is a testament to the sheer power of true musicianship. An organic, forceful album that feels like the upswing of a good beer buzz, it hops from folk to country to blues with impressive ease and effortless charm, and the title track is its triumphant centerpiece. Unlike the sprawling, ambitious show-stopper "The Next Messiah," "Acid Tongue" is a sweet, simple and utterly heartbreaking campfire singalong. With nothing but her acoustic guitar and a [...]

The first time Jenny Lewis went solo and not with Rilo Kiley , she teamed up with The Watson Twins for an exquisite offering. It was really really beautiful and chock-full of lovely, enchanting tracks. Acid Tongue is her 2nd solo album and The Watson Twins are not joining the party this time round. But she's brought on a wonderful group of artists to collaborate with her. It is a great group [...]

I finally got my hands on Jenny Lewis's new solo album Acid Tongue and it's immediately clear that as a solo performer she is much more interesting than she is with her band Rilo Kiley. Mostly, I think because Lewis is interested in a southern musical stew throwing country, blues, gospel and rock into a pot and seeing what works. It's obvious these are the genres of music that have influenced and moved her musical outlook. As a solo artist she is allowed to pursue what interests her the most, with [...]

I haven't gotten too deep into Jenny Lewis' album Acid Tongue yet. The title track was the first song I heard from it, and nothing else came close to that one for me. Until now. This is the second song off of Acid Tongue that I've wanted to listen to more than once. So for those of you who have been hearing all the buzz but have yet to heard anything but " Acid Tongue ", check this one out. Jenny Lewis - Bad Man's World [...]
I don't know how I didn't like this song at first. It's awesome. Here's the studio version. Jenny Lewis - Acid Tongue PigeonsandPlanes
Never before in Jenny Lewis' hyper-extended career has the ruddy-haired front woman sounded so affected. Her folksy, small-town image—which has been trumped by her larger-than-life affiliations—does give way to some semblance of musical authenticity. And, surely, the majority of her most ambitious effort to date, 2008's Acid Tongue , is performed with great gusto. But Lewis can not avoid giving the slightest impression that she is straining for her effects. Sometimes in the grip of great passion you fail to uphold your intent. Having followed her trajectory from as early as 2001, there is no [...]
A couple of tracks that I've been enjoying but haven't posted yet. The Black Ghosts - Repetition Kills You Jenny Lewis - Acid Tongue (I know I'm a little late with this one, but it's finally sinking in) PigeonsandPlanes

Jenny Lewis [ Official Site , MySpace ] gets more intimate on her second solo release Acid Tongue . It has a soulful twang that matches her grassroots storytelling lyrics. It maintains an air of relevance ??? you won???t have a premonition that it???s going to be dated in five minutes, and it doesn???t in the least feel geographically influenced. And if that doesn???t sell you, when she slows it down, the album transitions into a bluesy seductive affair. The album is sort of a musical hodgepodge, without much [...]
