With all the cancellations at this year's SOLD OUT Austin City Limits Festival , it sure would have been easy for C3 turn their back on everyone who purchased three day passes. We're sure glad they didn't though. Sure Jay-Z would have made a fantastic replacement for the Beastie Boys, but sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches. After Sonic Youth canceled last week ( due to guitarist Lee Renaldo fracturing his left wrist ), word has officially come that Dirty Projectors were added this year's ACL. However, [...]

They're dropping like flies! According to numerous sources ( Austin Chronicle , Austin 360 , Austin Sound ), Sonic Youth will have to cancel both their Sunday evening ACL Festival performance, as well as their ACL Taping because of a broken wrist to guitarist Lee Renaldo. While there's no official confirmation yet from the band or their label ( Matador ), we'll hopefully hear an announcement from C3 in the near future regarding a replacement. Looks like we don't have to feel so guilty about seeing Dan Auerbach on Sunday evening now. [...]

Today it was finally announced about who would be replacing Lily Allen at this year's ACL. The (supergroup) Them Crooked Vultures who we mentioned a few weeks back will be taking her spot in the lineup. The trio even have a (pre) ACL show at Stubb's on Thursday, Oct. 1st. Tickets ($45) go on sale this Saturday at 10am. (via Consequence of Sound )

After seeing Grizzly Bear perform a nearly perfect set earlier this Summer at The Parish, we can barely hold back our excitement as we get a few more opportunities to catch the foursome this year! Not only are they playing Saturday afternoon at ACL (3:00 on the Dell Stage), an aftershow at Emo's was just announced last week, with Beach House no less. Tickets ($25) are currently on sale, but it's anyone's guess to how much longer they'll be available. Don't miss this band live! [...]

Terrible, terrible news today! In addition to the Beastie Boys cancelling their ACL performance , you can chalk up another Friday night subtraction. According to a story on Austin 360 , Lily Allen is no longer on the ACL grid , and her official site and myspace don't have the concert listed either. No word on why as of yet. Seriously, she was one of the artists we were the most excited to catch at the fest! Bummer! C3 is in the process of finding a replacement and could have something [...]

There's a bunch of great aftershows lined up during ACL weekend. All tickets go onsale this Thursday at 10am. However, if you have to get your tickets now, there is a pre-sale that lasts for all the shows up until midnight on Wednesday (password = greengrass). You're welcome! Mos Def has definitely come out swinging with his newest album, The Ecstatic . Released last month, the disc features collaborations from Slick Rick and Talib Kweli and has the lyricist at the top of his game. Starting this weekend Mos Def will be embarking on his North American tour with a stop in Minneapolis. A few select shows will include guest appearances by Jay Electronica and Erykah Badu . The insanely talented Dan Auerbach will be touring this Fall and performing at two of the biggest festival in the U.S. First in August, he'll be taking the stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Then in November, the Black Keys' frontman will be performing here in our hometown of Austin at ACL . He's slotted up against both Girl Talk and Sonic Youth, but there's no question as to who we're gonna see. To say we're excited would be an understatement! I am sure you have already seen somewhere today the Austin City Limits Festival schedule was released this morning. This is always scary because of the possible conflicts in the schedule. Everyone has different tastes so I am sure some were annoyed in some way this morning but I am happy to say that I have no real conflicts. The sad news is that the Beastie Boys have been forced to cancel their appearance at the festival due to Adam Yauch being diagnosed with a tumor. Apparently it was caught [...]

Just last week we got to hear the amazing new track "Crying Lightning" from the Arctic Monkeys and we still can't get enough of it! A new album entitled Humbug , and a North American tour is in the works starting next month at the All Points West Festival in New Jersey. The band has also scheduled three dates here in Texas ( House of Blues in Houston , ACL , and the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas ). Last month during Austin's June-concertapalooza, School of Seven Bells hit up the Mohawk with Black Moth Super Rainbow. While we went to just about every GREAT concert last month ( Passion Pit , Animal Collective , Little Joy , CLUES , The Golden Filter/VEGA , Santigold , Grizzly Bear , St. Vincent , The Great Nostalgic & The Authors ), this was one we unfortunately missed! The band recently signed with Vagrant Records and will be re-releasing their 2008 debut, Alpinisms this upcoming Tuesday. [...]
