Siôn Russell Jones' latest single So Long carries joyful harmonies, uplifting lyrics, and highlights the excellent qualities Siôn holds as a songwriter. After falling in love with his own music, we were thrilled to also discover Siôn's recent, lovely covers. We had a lot to ask him, and Siôn Russell Jones very graciously answered some questions for us as we spoke about the So Long EP, being clumsy, and obsessions! AMBY: Hi Siôn, how are you doing? Siôn Russell Jones: I'm doing good thanks. Lots of [...]

Photo by Rory Lindsay We caught up with Polly Paulusma to find out more about her music, and her new acoustic, folk label Wild Sound Recordings. First up, what is Wild Sound? The back-story to the name is that 'wild sound' or 'wild track' is the special sound an engineer captures on a film shoot in the background, the noise of air in a room or a field or any location. There's a moment when everyone has [...]

Like so many timeless acts before him, Minute Taker is Manchester born and bred. The solo project of song writing producer Ben McGarvey, Minute Taker is a playful look at the modernity of folk pop. His sound is something quite unique, but folktronica seems the best way of describing it. McGarvey’s music offers the best of conventional folk, cleverly combined together with digitalised beats. This integration of two seemingly different ideas is what makes McGarvey’s music so impressive. Minute Taker’s new album ‘Last Things’ is an eleven-track masterpiece. Released earlier this month, [...]

Allman Brown is a London based artist who has played shows all over London, New York and Paris. He has played with a number of talented musicians including Lowell and Liz Lawrence who features on Sons & Daughters, which just so happens to be this week's First Signs Of Love . Bird Dog is Patrick Rees ' first E.P. as a solo artist and boy has he started in style. The tracks on the e.p. are made up of sketches of old demos mostly written while traveling around South-East Asia in 2011 on a $20 dollar guitar that doubled as an umbrella in tropical storms. Returning to England at the beginning of 2012 he started to play around with the demos, making all the recordings himself on his laptop adding harmonies or extra parts without worrying about how he might perform them live. [...]

It's great when a love of music inspires action. Following an appearance on not only The Lost On Radio podcast, but also presenter Andy's own SDLW podcast, the London based, alt-folk band Feldspar took to Twitter. A conversation between a number of Coventry's finest musical scene-sters ensued and quickly led to a gig booking. Head to Blue Bistro, Spon Street, Coventry on Wednesday 8th May. to see Barricades Rise (7.30pm), Atlum Schema (8.15pm) and a headline set from the brilliant Feldspar (9.00pm). If you are new to these artists, take 20mins out of your day to listen. If you [...]

Norwegian singer songwriter Farao first appeared in January with a free download of haunting track ‘Forces’. Her fragile and otherworldly tone instantly resonated with anyone that heard it. Farao headed to Reykjavik in February to record with Mike Lindsay from experimental folk group Tunng. ‘Skin’ is the first track from this batch of recordings that is set for release as a digital-only single on May 27th. There is an un-nerving intensity to this track with a foreground drum beat and icy sharp vocals that tell the tale of extra marital affair. Farao played all instrumentation on [...]

Here at Right Chord Music we try to plan in advance, it depends on the quality of music we're sent, but sometimes it works. Recently it's worked well, in fact we've been scheduling our posts 3/4 weeks in advance. The only down side is when we discover a new artist we love, we have to be patient and wait to share it with you. That's tough because we don't do patient very well! So we're delighted to finally introduce you to Sam Pinkerton , 'I Will Never Fall In Love With You' we've been playing this track on repeat [...]
We're excited to announce the 4th Right Chord Music Hangout Session will feature the brilliant Bela Takes Chase . Watch the live streaming gig here at Right Chord Music from 9pm on Friday 5th April. A star has been born and we delighted to welcome this incredibly versatile performer to the RCM Hangout Sessions. As ever the show will be hosted and feature the [...]
