To round off the Music Liberation's Writers takeover week we have Moker ... "Well this is a little surprising. Looking back at the artists I've managed to review in 2011, the one thing that's abundantly clear is that I've heavily favoured music with female vocals and showgaze, layered guitars. This must be some kind of subconscious shift in my tastes as I'd never have normally ticked such boxes if I had to describe my favourite music. [...]
We begin our round up of this year with our top 5 tracks that we reviewed in 2011. This will be followed later this week by our top 5 EPs, Music Liberation writers picks of the year, and finally our top 10 albums of the year... 1. Cloud Nothings - No Future / No Past // Reviewed November 18th by Jon Sidwell "Beginning in a haunting fashion with distant [...]
It was the year of the reunion/comeback. So many big artists came back together to put out one more album. Maybe I'm just getting older and there are more bands under my belt who have the potential to reunite...but this honestly has to be the most reunions I can remember in awhile. The strongest outing by far was by The Cars...and they seemed to have the most stacked against them. Missing

It's Friday, at long last. Not because I've been working so hard (I'm currently jobless) but because shit is happening this weekend and I've been bored. As I've not been working I've been able to catch up on all sorts of music, new and old, and I thought I'd share some of it with you. It's a varied mix, from Swedish alt-rock to some West Coast lo fi to one of my favourite Latin songs. Anyway, peruse, listen, browse and do any number of other things with the music. Finally, be sure to buy anything you like. To [...]

A few years ago I went to New York. Whilst there I spent a night or two in some indie clubs to get hideously drunk and to see what the city's own take on the whole indie-rock thang was. Turns out it's almost exactly the same as here (the toilets are just as disgusting) but the major difference was that they played a lot more alternative British music. I guess as it wasn't home grown it was seen as more exotic, which was surprising as this was when The Stokes were huge, people were still excited about [...]

Brooklyn duo Acrylics recently released their debut album 'Lives and Treasure' on Gung-Ho! Recordings in the UK . They sent along their first single "Molly's Vertigo" which they are giving away as a free download and it is one pretty indie pop track with a little disco tinge that could get it some dance floor love. They've gotten some great reviews so far including one on NME where they called their music "Teen heartache [...]

Theres been plenty of significant interest in what Kurt Feldman has been doing over the last couple of years. You may recognize him from his drumming in The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart or for his guitar/vocal work in Depreciation Guild . You may not, however, know that hes teamed up with Raphael Radna( Depreciation Guild ) as well as a couple others and formed himself a little electro-pop band called Ice Choir . While Ice Choir still has yet to release anything formally, they have recorded [...]

Hey! Thought we forgot about this, eh? Nah... Next time I leave the country for a month, I will also leave access to the hard drive where all my files are located. So we're still aiming to re-post all of the Blogophilia volumes by summer's end. Today we have volumes 5 & 6, which feature promotional MP3s available during May and June of 2009. As always, these are gapless mixes with cover art. These are only up for a limited time, so get them now! - [...]

I don't know if this Brooklyn based duo deliberately set out to look and sound like the 802s but they've achieved it none the less. And in keeping with relics from that decade it seems Acrylics signed to an old fashioned label. The label in question, Terrible Records, is run by Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear and together they produced a 10-inch white vinyl archival of their 'All Of The Fire' EP. Perfectly quaint I think you'll agree, but then it had to be to house such pastoral delights as 'Counting Sheep' (used for blog effect as the song only [...]
I know it's wrong to do things this way, but I knew when I saw their name, that I would like Acrylics. When I listened to a couple of songs, and then the whole album Lives & Treasure (which can be bought here or here ), I quickly decided that I was right. The vocalists, Molly Shea and Jason Klauber play off of eachother in their duets and also create beautiful songs when singing alone. I think my favorite Jason song is called Counting Sheep (which I don't have permission to [...]
