Daphni , aka Dan Snaith, aka Caribou , launches his new label, Jiaolong. This isn’t his first try under the disco-funk alias; he has two releases out on the Resista label under the name Daphni, and they are both otherworldly. This limited 12” comprises of three tracks one of which, ‘Yes I know’, was featured on his Resident Advisor podcast. You should already know how I go crazy for Wise Blood . The official video for "Nosferatu" reveals a dark side of Christopher Laufman. I have to warn you, many of the scenes are somewhat disturbing. Between the morbid masks and man suffocating, I was left feeling dejected but that didn't stop me from replaying. This video just increases the intensity of Wise Blood's music. Cuckoo Chaos comes straight from the coast of San Diego. The tags on their Bandcamp say they are tropical dance jams. Those words and influences from Talking Heads are basically who they are. Each track from Woman breezes through your ears with a coconut-y aftertaste. Perhaps, we can compare these guys to coconut milk, effortlessly rich and nutritious. The piece features Dowdy's, 'Do Da Di', and Alovesuprime's, 'Sadovoe'; both are instant gratification to the ear drums. Rhythmical and funky basslines along with some post-disco get-downs.
