AIDS Wolf - Please Hold the Line Montreal's AIDS Wolf has been touring behind their assaultive new album, Ma vie banale avant-garde, for about three weeks. They're finishing this weekend with shows in DC, New York, and Boston. These are the dates . After that, member Alexander Moskos continues touring as Drainolith, his disconcerting, cold, yet oddly inviting electronic noise project. That tour will hit LA for a few days, including a show at Dem Passwords on the 25th. You can RSVP on Facebook . I asked Alexander and his fellow AIDS [...]

( TagliaMani illustration via 50Watts ) (Unedited copy of an expose of Dean Castoriadis, owner of The Cube Club, the Gazzette, 19 th of XXXXXX, 20XX). There is much to digest in the Coroner report for the 'Disco Bloodbath' case. The analysis of DNA suggests at least 35 victims. The causes of death include lacerations, stabbing, bludgeoning, ripping and shredding. Partial burns in some cases, from extreme heat and acid. Internal explosion of organs provoked by an unexplained agent. A true carnival of gore. And no trace [...]

Good time are to be had by all today. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Aids Wolf, Feist & We Were Promised Jetpacks are at the top of my shopping list. It's not really a shopping list though. That was a total lie and I am sorry for it. Aids Wolf: Ma Vie Banale Avant-Garde Annie Crane: Jump With a Child's Heart The Asteroid Shop: The Asteroid Shop Big Tree: This New Year Blind [...]

Though this week's new releases is full of all sorts of very exciting releases (such as a whole bunch of vinyl reissues from Dinosaur Jr. and a DVD from "Weird Al" Yankovic 's latest round of touring), we're most giddy about the new album from AIDS Wolf , Ma Vie Banale Avant-Garde (pictured). But, of course, the new releases don't stop there. Bar/None puts out the latest from Emperor X , Warner Bros. has a new one from Mutemath , and FatCat releases an album from We Were Promised Jetpacks . [...]

Sounds like branches creaking ominously as a flock of murder-hungry birds glare on high for the opening bars of AIDS Wolf's "Please Hold The Line". When the bows do break, it's not really all hell landing on its ass, it's just an early leak off the band's fourth LP, Ma vie banal avant-garde (Lovepump United), itself a nicely named nod to the French from which they come up in the wilds of Montreal. As far as the general range of terror and violence that AIDS Wolf have s...

AIDS Wolf fourth LP Ma vie banale avant-garde is coming out October 4th via Lovepump United . The self-produced double LP was recorded at Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, WA. Now, AIDS Wolf is not for everyone. It just isn't. That said, being a reader of this blog, you (dearest reader) are much more likely to enjoy an AIDS Wolf recording than say the average listener of music. So, expand your mind a bit, and... Listen. AIDS Wolf hardly need an introduction any more. Their noisy-take-no-prisoners live show should be well known at this point . The Montreal band have been relatively quiet for a few months, but expect that all to change on October 20 when they kick off a tour at Death by Audio in Brooklyn. The full routing (which brings the band back to New York on November 11 when they play 92Y Tribeca) is posted after the jump. AIDS Wolf tour dates: 10/20/11 - Brooklyn, NY @ Death By Audio [...]
Here is part 4 of who to see at NXNE . This time on Saturday June 18, 2011. There is a lot of things to see during the daytime and nighttime. Usually on the Saturday I would go down to the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern for CBC Radio 32s show. But this year I might have to break my tradition. I am setting my eyes on staying at this venue which is the Great Hall. Playing there are: 9pm - Duzheknew [...]

Warner Bros. Or at least we are the first batch of acts officially announced on Tuesday for this year's NXNE festival, running June 16 through 19 around Toronto. It's certainly not all of them, but there's some moderate to big names in there and perhaps most key, the headliners for the free shows at Yonge-Dundas Square that have become the centrepiece of the fest have been revealed. While there's no one quite of the stature of last year's Saturday night marquee of Iggy & The Stooges , New [...]

AIDS Wolf | Death by Audio | April 16, 2011 Captain Ahab wasn't the only band to perform at Death by Audio on Saturday night. AIDS Wolf headlined the show at the DIY space. The two bands couldn't be further apart aesthetically, but that's sort of the why the worked so well on the same bill. The noisy sets from Montreal's AIDS Wolf always try to push boundaries, and this weekend's show was no exception. Though the sound can be abrasive at times, that's part of what makes it so enjoyable. [...]
With most multi-day passes hovering around $200, festival going definitely isn't cheap. Add in airfare, gear, hotel/camping costs, plus the price of 4-days worth of chicken pita, and attending more than one summer extravaganza seems daunting if not impossible. So North By Northeast 's (NXNE) $50 5-day 'Music' wristbands and $150 early bird 'Priority Pass' seem like a steal, considering the festival boasts 600 international bands performing across 50 venues in beautiful Toronto. Pattered after Austin's South By Southwest, NXNE is comprised of an interactive, film, and music segment, with various workshops, panels, and activities taking place over [...]

AIDS Wolf claim that they tried to make a music video but "it all went to shit." The end result is "Catholic for Rent," the video above. It really is more of a glimpse into the lives of AIDS Wolf more than a music video, but entertaining nonetheless.
