Amfibian / Utalk 03/31/2001 @ Higher Ground FOB/House Rig [ FLAC , MP3 ] From 1999 to 2001 and then from 2004 to 2007, Phish lyricist Tom Marshall wrote songs for and performed with a unit he fronted called Amfibian. The band developed from the ashes of an "aborted" Trey [Anastasio]/Tom project called Utalk. Anastasio and Marshall paired with two friends from their Princeton Day School years, drummer Pete Cottone and bassist Matt Kohut, to form Utalk in the late '90s. When difficulties such as Trey living in Vermont while the rest of the band lived in [...]
Gee, it's raining. What a surprise! I was shocked when I woke up and saw yesterday and the day before and the day before that outside my window. The difference is today is warmer at 50°. It's sci-fi Saturday when I get to watch a whole day of TV filled with creatures whose main diet is man. Right now Manticore is picking out his entrée having already enjoyed several appetizers, nearly a whole village full. I have to grocery shop today, my least favorite thing to do. I'll go up and down the aisles filling my [...]
Rick Danko Band 03/01/1978 SBD [ MP3 , Stream ] HT faves The Band are known for their legendary final show, billed as The Last Waltz and immortalized by Martin Scorsese's film of the same name. However, The Last Waltz was not the last time the original members of The Band shared a stage. Richard Manuel, Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson and Garth Hudson all sat in with The Rick Danko Band for the final three songs of the bassist's late set at The Roxy in Los Angeles, Calif. on March 1, 1978. Sophomore slump? Real Estate has never heard of it. The band's recent Days LP is the follow-up to 2009's excellent self-titled effort, and it doesn't disappoint. Here's the album standout "Green Aisles," a dreamy jangle pop tune that praises "wasted miles," "aimless drives," and "our careless lifestyle." This manifesto on laziness has got one of the year's best choruses. I interviewed bassist Alex Bleeker for this week's Georgia Straight .

Tweetvaso link Real Estate is not an immediate gratification type band; they don't create music that inclines people to run out frantically in efforts to get their hands on it. At least, I should say, they aren't that type of band to me. And I like them a lot. Which leads me to "Green Aisles."...

The 10-day count down until Real Estate release their superb sophomore record Days starts tomorrow. If you've heard the songs released so far ("Easy," "Green Aisles," "It's Real") that may still seem too long. People who attended the release party of Fader Magazine #76 were lucky enough to see Real Estate play there and perform a bunch of new songs. 'What good is that to me?' you might ask. Well, fortunately a professional film crew was there to capture a couple of the songs with perfect audio and upload them so that everyone who didn't go can watch. [...]

Normally when the weather starts to get a bit colder I stop listening to anything that reminds me remotely of summer, mostly because it just furthers my longing to be warm again. This track however I will make an exception, I'll just sit beside my radiator or something and pretend. Real Estate- Green Aisle Share and Enjoy:

Real Estate 's swoon worthy California-by-way-of-New-Jerse y sound has become the blueprint for many bands looking to achieve blissed out indie pop success. Copycats try as they might but there is something effortless and genuine to way Real Estate present themselves that puts them far above the bell curve. Case in point: "Green Aisles" off their sophmore offering "Days" which will be released stateside Oct. 18th via Domino . Real Estate will play at The Echoplex In Los Angeles Nov. 12 MP3: Real Estate - Green Aisles [...]

Marking the end of summer, New Jersey dream-pop maestro’s Real Estate have dropped a free download of ‘Green Aisles’, a taster of their upcoming album that comes wrapped in wistful, autumnal cosiness. ‘Green Aisles’ is lifted from the band’s forthcoming long player, ‘Days’, which is set for release on October 18th via Domino Records .

Now the giddy summer months have finally departed ‘Green Aisles’ by Real Estate seems the perfect soundtrack to calmer Autumnal times. This track from their forthcoming second album ‘Days’ has the band delivering 5 minutes of sublime dream-pop for the listener to languidly drift through. There is much to contemplate on this track, and none of it taxing. It’s all too easy to immerse yourself as spindly guitars interplay harmoniously and soft vocal melodies echo together to give this cut an ever so slightly Stone Roses-esque quality. This will be sure to send a few pangs of nostalgia [...]

Real Estate is approaching a bit of a milestone album. They've been big, or bigger than your average scrappy NJ band for a bit now, but with the oncoming release of Days they're jumping on to a bigger label and with a bigger label comes bigger expectations on the idea of a defined sound. It's [...]

Real Estate - Green Aisles I've been taking a break from posting Indie. I'm not sure how you feel about that, but now that the seasons are winding down it's high time to revisit forgotten genres. Thankfully Real Estate is there for me with "Green Aisles" off their forthcoming, Days . Love it.
I carved our names into a tree, I walked on decomposing leaves, I walked upon a frozen sea, it's real as far as I can see. Photo by Algo I've been sitting on this gem from Real Estate for awhile, quietly reveling in the warm embrace of what is one of my favorite songs of the summer. The New Jersey trio craft just lovely, pastoral rock, and It's Real, the first single off their sophomore release
