The 1975 are coming to the end of a series of EPs before the release of their self-titled debut album in September. So far, each of the three EPs have centered around a belting radio-ready single - The City (version 1), Chocolate, Sex - with the remaining tracks allowing the group to indulge their love of more slow-burning, ambient songwriting. It would seem that EP four - literally called IV - is no different. We've already helped premiere the re-recorded version of ' The City ', the release's radio moment, and now comes 'Haunt [...]

Katy B dropped by Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show earlier this evening to deliver her brand new single, 'What Love Is Made Of'. The track will feature on her upcoming second album, the follow up to 20112s On a Mission . The track, with its honky-tonk synths and digi-beats, strays rather too close to Calvin Harris territority for our liking - words that should never be ushered about artists with the talent and originality of Katy B. Back in March Katy told Billboard, about a new record, "A lot of stuff is getting [...]

Después de convertirse en una banda sovietica por un rato y presentarnos "Ballad of the War Machine", Midnight Juggernauts regresa con un nuevo sencillo titulado "Memorium" que será parte de su nueva producción Uncanny Valley . Enjoy.

The Neighbourhood's debut album I Love You has already landed a spot on our top albums list for 2013. For a band that came from nowhere in mid-2012, this quintet from Los Angeles have done a sufficient job of kicking up noise all around the world with their sing-along lush pop-scapes and reverb drenched rock. We had the chance to speak with the band back in November about this rise to fame and what the future might hold (listen to our interview here ). For one lucky reader out there, we are giving away an [...]

If you're going to a festival this summer, chances are Teleman will be there. Formed from the previous members of indie troubadours 'Pete and The Pirates' ( remember them? ), the London quartet caused quite a stir with their debut single 'Cristina' last year, a cheery jaunt that sat comfortably in the middle ground between Alt J and Django Django, the brilliance lying in its simplicity. Along with countless festivals in the UK and Europe, the four piece look set to support Britpop legends 'Suede' on their forthcoming european tour, which perhaps explains why Bernard Butler has produced [...]

It's been some year for Deap Vally . Breaking out out of the LA rock scene is hard enough, but doing it as effortlessly as they have, takes something a little bit special. Formed in 2011 after meeting at a needlework class, Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards soon began making music together and have barely looked back since releasing their debut single back in the Summer of 2012. Debut appearances in the UK and Japan, and shows with heavyweights such as the Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Muse has cemented their reputation [...]

We've been big Oneman fans since his excellent FabricLive album of last year. He has a regular slot on London's best radio station Rinse FM (Tuesdays 21.00-23.00) playing all kinds of crazy shiz and hot tunes with loads of bass and garage thrown in of course. When we saw he'd uploaded one of his podcasts from last month onto his soundcloud page with a full track listing of 56 tracks we got mega excited and started jumpin around all over the place and going all gansta on ya! There's some James Blake, Pearson Sound, [...]

It's probably safe to say that Tom Odell's recent trip to the States has been nothing short of successful. A bit of a recap, there was Tom's US television debut on David Letterman last week (so good Letterman basically mentions he'd manage him), there was the filming of a new music video, and a stint of sold out shows including this one at the world famous Troubadour in West Hollywood. The young Odell is definitely doing all of the things that you want to make it right on this side of the pond. Along with his three-piece band, [...]

Oh yeah, hell yeah!! Here is Hanging Gardens , the debut album of Classixx in it's full glory. Go and get it!

By Kenny McMurtrie May 10, 2013 2013 isn’t a very sexy sounding year but given that the opening track on Primal Scream ’s tenth album mentions “Thatcher’s children” & various other goings on from during the late Baroness’s time in power they’ve lucked in in terms of political commentary this year. The fact that it also bears no resemblance to the Scream-by-numbers of second single 'It's Alright, It's OK' is also a big plus point. Where did they come up with the idea for that no wave-like brass [...]
By: Brendan All Those Days to Feel Better is the latest release from busy Chicago-based singer-songwriter Derek Clegg. It's a wonderfully twangy collection of songs. That album as well as several others by Clegg are available for free download at ... Continue reading
There aren't many bands who put pianos before guitars, even less so on the dreampop scene, so for that reason alone Collar Up are worth investigating. - By Kevin Scott

'Money' are one of those bands that manage to maintain an elusive aura, even amongst the hype. After signing to Bella Union records last year, the Manchester four piece have since put out two incredibly limited 73 singles, whilst becoming synonymous around the country for their strangely brilliant live shows in odd locations. Their sound lies in the dreamier, more psychedelic end of the pop spectrum, possessing undenia bly spiritual qualities through their incorporation of a wide range of influences. As Money prepare to release their debut album at the end of the summer, they have released the video for the first single [...]
This two-piece atmospheric metal ensemble buckles and obliterates their musical instruments to create a distinctive brew of horror and melancholy. - By Lav Nandlall

By Kenny McMurtrie May 10, 2013 Twenty years on from the original release of the Last Splash album The Breeders are now treading the boards playing it live from start to finish. Record-wise they’ve also released LSXX in support of the live performances - the original album, a round-up of ep tracks, demos & rarities and a third disc containing a 1992 live performance recorded by the BBC in Stockholm (the quality of which is mediocre at best, especially the rather muddy vocals) [...]

If you read our latest article on Vampire Weekend , about the first two singles of this album Step and Diane Young , you might already know how excited I was for ‘Modern Vampires Of The City’ . Vampire Weekend’s first album is among my favourite indie albums of all time, then they released their second album ‘Contra’ , an album that didn’t quite do [...]
I think this album is a bold move by Pombagira, a clear attempt to escape the label of a ‘doom band’ and create something that has never been heard before. This attitude has to be admired but sadly I don’t think there is quite enough substance in ‘Maleficia Lamiah’ to live long in the memory. - By Richard Collins
ALLOW me to introduce a new feature on Sound Advice - child labour. That is, our new feature Felt Hits - say hello to a selection of famous album covers, redrawn by a six-year-old. I thought these 'cover versions' would be a good way of encouraging my daughter's arty streak, as well as teaching her about music. I'll post one each Friday, and let you know what last week's artwork was - so you've got seven days to try and guess what the first picture shown above is by posting in the comments of this post.

Painting by Gustav Klimt [ Fabric ] "Sandwell District is dead" - except when they're not. Since their watershed moment a couple years ago - which is tough to define, but probably around Feed-Forward - Sandwell District has come to embody much more than just a label. The notion of a collective à la Basic Channel seems particularly apropos, as the label's [...]

"A total shift of mindset becomes fully realized in ‘Modern Vampires of the City’, as Vampire Weekend grow out of their collegiate trappings and exchange youth for wisdom..." Vampire Weekend | Modern Vampires of the City Though it may not have matched the mystery (or budget) of Daft Punk’s recent pre-release antics, the build up to Vampire Weekend’s third studio album has been undeniably peculiar. After dropping two completely different new singles simultaneously back in March, the New York four piece have since gatecrashed the annual NYC Easter parade, claimed column inches for pissing off [...]
