Franz Ferdinand have finally announced a new album: Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action . That's the album art above. It will come out via Domino on August 27. It's mind boggling to think that this is their first album since 20092s Tonight. They spent the last year recording the album in frontman Alex Kapranos' Scottish Studio, and Nick McCarthy's Sausage Studios in London. Ty Segall must never sleep. The guy has announced yet another album, ironically titled Sleeper . It will come out via Drag City on August 20. This is a solo album, not one with his band. 2013 is becoming an insane year for music. Daft Punk do indeed have a new album on the way. It's called Random Access Memories , and it's coming out May 21, via Daft Life Limited, a Columbia Records imprint. That's the album artwork posted above. The album is rumored to feature Panda Bear, along with Giorgio Moroder and Nile Rodgers. Sony registered 13-tracks which are untitled, but you can see the track run-times here . Great news just seemed to keep pouring in over the weekend. Deerhunter announced that they have a new album coming out. It's titled Monomania , and will be released via 4AD on May 7. The album is 12-tracks long and was recorded in Brooklyn at Rare Book Room Studio, with production from Nicolas Verhes and new bassist Josh McKay replacing Josh Fauver. As if the well of amazing new album releases would ever dry up. Queens Of The Stone Age are finally back, after not releasing any new material over the past six years. They have announced that they have a new album on the way this June it's titled Like Clockwork , and will be released via Matador . Certainly a huge deal for both sides. The album will feature Dave Grohl returning to the dreams, as well as guest spots from Elton John and Trent Reznor. Excited yet?

Sigur Rós are returning with a new album this year titled Kveikur , only a year since last year's Valtari. It will come out June 18 via X.L. Recordings . Sadly, the band is now a three-piece, as Kjartan Sveinsson has left the band. Ah glorious news guys. The National have finally revealed that their new album is titled Trouble Will Find Me . It's their 6th album, and it will be released May 20 via 4AD . They self-produced the album and recorded it at Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, New York. From the sound of it, it sounds like this album will be one of the purest, most truthful albums that they've released to date. Smith Westerns have returned with their new single "Varsity." It will be on their new album, Soft Will , out June 11th on Mom+Pop . On "Varsity" the band return in full fashion hitting those glam-rock chords oh so well. This is one of the bigger sounding songs that we've heard from the Chicago-band to date, as the production is top notch and they're reaching bigger with it's chorus. I like it quite a bit. The band started work on Soft Will during spring/summer 2012, teaming up with producer Chris Coady. [...]

Big Deal quietly released one of my favorite albums of 2011. It was quiet somber record that hit me emotionally. It looks like their sound is taking a new direction on June Gloom, their new album due out June 4 via Mute Records . One listen to "Teradactol" the big sprawling track, will leave you impressed. It's a much bolder approach from the band, and I think they just may be all the better for it. They are stretched out with a full band which explains the fuller sound that they now have. [...]

Kurt Vile's new album Wakin on a Pretty Daze will be released via Matador Records on April 9. The Matablog has released the opening tack "Walkin On A Pretty Day" for free download (there's also a video ). Standing at 9 1/2 minutes tall, it's one way to open an album. Dubliners Come on Live Long have just released the official video for 'Little Ones', the first single from their forthcoming debut album Everything Fall . If EP Mender is anything to go by, this could be one of the best Irish albums this year. 'Little Ones' has a certain restrained charm too, and has me excited for the rest of the record. The album is due sometime in the spring (April or May), and was recorded at Orphan Studios with Gavin Glass and Scott Halliday, produced and mixed by Conor Gaffney (Nouveaunoise) and mastered by Holger Lagerfeldt. Looks like I posted too soon. Vampire Weekend have made a proper announcement for their new album. It's indeed titled Modern Vampires of the City , that's the album cover above. They shared the tracklist, and the album sits at 12 tracks. There will be a spring tour, with dates posted at their site .
