Esto dijo Damon Albarn en el pasado show de la banda inglesa en la ciudad asiática. It's about time Ralph wandered a bit further south than The Watford Gap to bring you talented, unsigned Indie bands and you can't get much further south and find a band more talented than The Watermelons from Brighton (just ask Blur 's Alex James ). The [...]
Does anyone really care what Robbie Williams thinks about Blur? Really? Tell us then, Gordon: he singled out Alex for criticism after accusing The Sun columnist of “not being very nice to him”. Robbie said: “Alex is the bassist in Blur — my nan could do that. All she needs is a new haircut.” Let's not pause to reflect that being in Take That is a job so simple, Howard Donald is able to hold the role down, and just probe this further. It turns out that Williams is carrying a grudge: [...]

This ultimate chugger dropped in last week form the Hypercolour team and we've been loving it ever since we first heard that plodding whomp takeover our headphones. When that piano comes in its instant euphoria There's a housier version by Alex Jones if you need something faster than the 85bpm original...

Having previously been named Steve Lamacq’s ‘unsigned band of the week’ on his BBC 6Music show and garnered some serious praise elsewhere, Waylayers release their new single 'Magnets' tomorrow. Well-polished, electro-tinged indie-pop that moulds Two Door Cinema Club and Bastille, 'Magnets' is a promising return for the young group. The video, which you can view below, was directed by Alex James who has previously worked with the likes of The Maccabees, Klaxons, La Roux & James Blake. Watch it below.

What's going on here? Yes, that's Gordon Smart and Alex James pretending to wee. Why, though? In God's name why? Blur's Alex James lets it all out in the bogs ...for a TV show For a TV show? Really? Erm, no. It's for a web video. Tell us more, Gordon. OVER the years I’ve heard some great stories from readers and rock stars alike about the most famous people they’ve stood beside at a urinal. Really? [...]
In the past two years, I have witnessed pretty much every single band that I loved between 1995 and 2004 embark on some kind of reunion or comeback. Some have been nostalgic fun, some have been 'just okay' and others have been lacklustre and trampled over their legacy. Then there has been a very, very slight [...]

Where to start with the London Olympics? Well chronologically and indeed – as it full well transpired – logically Danny Boyle's stirring patriotisms and Rick Smith's immaculate soundtracking provided as good a place as any. The past sixteen days have proudly proven a subsequent celebration of all things British, from investing exorbitant emotions in in many cases unknown and for the most part unknowable athletes (football fanaticism transposed into a rather more humble arena, you may say in light of the impending 2012/13 kickoff) to slobbing off excessively in front of the gluebox. Departing into rabid flag-waving jingoism [...]

On July 31st, Blur dropped the 21 Box Set and the re-release/reissue of their seven albums. Blur being my favorite British band, still can't believe they have been together for 21 years. The band will play a big show at Hyde Park and at the Summer Olympics closing ceremony. So in turn I would like to reveal my 21 favorite Blur tracks of all time. Think of this as a "Greatest Hits mixtape". This list includes b-sides and remixes. Those wanting to know if this certain famous song of theirs will make [...]

The disaster that was the otherwise-successful Alex James Presents Harvest cheese-and-music bash not paying anyone gets a close look in today's Observer . Alex James is given space to not quite apologise, but stress how bad he feels about it all: James acknowledges how furious many of those involved have been. Although he did receive part-payment upfront, it did not, he says, compensate for the work he put into the festival. '"It wasn't about the money I lost. It's just a mess. It was easily the worst business deal I've ever done. I'm gutted that [...]

Endowed with dad's curls and, on tonight's evidence, dad's crowd Baxter Dury's Happy Soup LP of yesteryear was quite plausibly the unheralded triumph of the twelve months we came to distinguish as 2011 and, more significantly, established Dury Jnr. as the unassumingly sensational songwriter that tonight swaggers before us. Adorned and embellished in debonair suits and sequined regalia (in the case of the spectrally voiced Madelaine Hart) Dury has come to exemplify a contemporary bastion of Britishness; a concise punk history of snot snared within a sole body. And whether or not we're here congregated to revel in [...]
Words by the man himself: My first studio album (meaning there are no freestyles, only originals). I got the title from a play on words of Star Wars: A New Hope. From beginning to end the entire albums' theme is dreams. I talk about college, the state of rap music today, where I see myself today, and where I want to see myself when it's all said and done. This is my story. This is A New Dope. I hope you enjoy it. A New Dope by Alex James

Charleston, SC, native Alex James dropped his debut album a few days ago and I've had this in rotation amidst Phony Ppl and Nehru Jackets . As a South Carolinian, I enjoy hearing cats from my neck of the woods make dope music. Production on this is top-notch, as well. Though his delivery isn't always perfect, Alex has a perfect voice for rap: clear and inviting. I personally think he sounds better on slower, more soulful beats like "Camaro, All Black." Plus, A New Dope is an homage to [...]
