Metallica announced today they have tapped award-winning director Nimród Antal to direct the upcoming Metallica 3D feature film project. The film has been long rumored and finally confirmed by the band earlier this year and will be a marriage of narrative and concert featuring the five members of seminal metal band. Rose Funeral has announced tour dates in support of their latest release, The Gates of Punishment . The band will tour with Pathology and The World We Knew throughout April and May in venues nationwide. German thrashers Exumer have been confirmed to play a series of live shows in South America in June, 2012. The trek will take the band through Argentina Chile and Brazil with Danish thrash masters Artillery. Metal heavyweights Megadeth and Rob Zombie have just announced a co-headlining tour this spring. Grammy nominees Mastodon have announced that they will hit the road for a spring North American tour in support of their current album The Hunter , which was released by Reprise Records in September. OSI has announced details about their forthcoming release, Fire Make Thunder , which is the fourth undertaking for the collaborative duo known as OSI Formed in 2002 by Jim Matheos (Fates Warning, Arch/Matheos) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, former Dream Theater keyboardist), OSI is a long distance partnership, both musicians typically writing and recording alone and sending song ideas back and forth for further elaboration. The festival was originally formed in 2005 having featured Anthrax, Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Opeth, Static-X and In Flames.
