The howler monkeys in Alouatta was a great discovery in the early days of this blog. Now they've finally presented a follow-up, the EP "DIY". And more, they also promise a new full length album in the near future. And they don't disappoint me. It's head-on, energic, messy rock, maybe with some more retro vibes from the early seventies than before, and with Karl Buhre's special vocals in the front, like he's a kind of frenetic reincarnation mix of Hendrix and Lynott. You can find Aloutatta on Facebook and you can listen [...]

(picture by J-Fur) The little guy on the left has some sort of liver ailment which requires medicine each morning. I take one of his pills from the container, push it into a meat pocket and roll it while announcing in a bad Italian accent "Who ordered the meatball? The meatball?" By this point the little beast has rushed over and is bouncing around with his arms waving making it clear who the intended target of the meatball is. It was during one [...]
Sorry I've been MIA on the editorial front, but it's probably not gonna change much for the foreseeable future either. While Europe heads into summer slowdown/festival mode, I'm getting more work piled on me than there are hours in the day. However, I do have a list next to me on my desk of artists I'm long overdue to cover and I really am gonna try my best to get through them one way or another in the not-so-distant future. First up, here's a little something from Alouatta off their brand new 10" "DIY EP" (out [...]

Talking about voices that moves into new areas, I thought it would be a nice idea to present Karl Buhre's solo project Ocean Beach . Normally you can find Karl Buhre in the band Alouatta , which I wrote about a while ago here on the blog. It's a big leap between Alouatta's frenetic, punky rock to this singer-songwriter music, which brings us back to the early seventies in the company of CSN&Y and Joni Mitchell . He present a couple of great compositions, which you can listen to on [...]
Alouatta has started recording their debut full-length and will be doing basic tracks with Andre Linder ( Östermalm ) before sending it off to Fredrik Björk ( Twopointeight ) for overdubs.
Now I would like to get your attention presenting Alouatta, a really nice rock band with punk influences. They offer a lot of energy and attitude, with a close garage sound that reminds of the first punk rock era. As I'm a real fan of special voices, I get hooked on the vocals from Karl Buhres . I hear Jimi Hendrix , both in the tone and the phrasing, but with a frenzy and energy that Jimi didn't offer. Alouatta was formed in 2007 by members from Coyote, Twopointeight , The Shiv [...]

Mutinyzine interviews Swedish rockers Alouatta : http://www.mutinyzine.com/inte rview80.html
Another week of adjusting to the new house, with a weekend mountain of heavy-duty yard work to complete, left the both of us tired, absent from the blog and almost yearning for a plate of red meat for this Monday evening. Instead of feeding our carnivorous nature with unhealthy food, it was decided to post a highly palatable rock band from Sweden. Alouatta is a post-hardcore punk quartet from
