I was lucky enough to see them open up for St.Vincent back on December 16, 2011 . Cold Specks is the stage name of Canadian singer-songwriter now based in London, UK Al Spx. Al Spx might be one of the better secrets Canada has ever kept from itself. The 23-year-old Etobicoke native has been busy making a name for her Cold Specks  project over in the U.K., charming the likes of Jools Holland and The Guardian with an old, soulful spirit that betrays her age. After a successful few months, she's now ready to take the her songs back home, teaming up with Toronto indie-titan Arts & Crafts  to put out her Holland  73 single early next month. When Al Spx, aka Cold Specks  ( Facebook / MySpace ), released her hauntingly beautiful debut single, Holland , I was in love within the first few bars. And seeing here live a few days later only added to my excitement of what she may release next. I've barely got any info on Canada's Cold Specks other than she is Al Spx of Etobicoke, Ontario and writes some of the most bleak but beautiful and disarming songs I've heard in a long time.
