Time for another swift round-up of some of the best tunes into our in-box and from around our favourite music blogs. A little while ago we posted the video for Shrouded Strangers excellent track Featherbed , and now we have the mp3 for you as well. We also have the full-on power pop of Fort Lean and their new single Sunsick , some Swedish punk from new Captured Tracks signings Hologram , and some swaggering lo-fi underground psych from White Fence. We have some lovely, woodsy [...]

Sharon Van Etten is a New Jersey native who is currently based in Brooklyn and she's just released her third album, called Tramp . She's another artist I heard on the radio recently, and it was actually the first I'd heard of her at all. A little bit of time on the internet told me she's been making good music for a good few years (her first album came out in 2009). Of great interest to me was the fact that on her latest LP she's worked with members of The Walkmen, The National and Beirut. [...]

Since the indefinite hiatus / demise of Wolf Parade , Spencer Krug has been concentrating on new project Moonface . Last year saw the release of Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped and he has now announced a follow up that has been recorded with Finnish band Siinai called With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery. This is the first taste from the album and it is a stormer - all buzzing guitars, massive keyboards and nailgun percussion. And great lyrics! "Teary eyes and bloody lips [...]

Moonface is the project of Spencer Krug , who is one of the vocalists and creative minds behind the great indie rock band Wolf Parade , as well as Sunset Rubdown . He teamed up recently with Siinai, a Finnish band of some sort. The details are a little arduous, but the results are pretty good. Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips is the lead single for the album and the sound is familar to anyone who has backgroud knowledge on Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown. Moonface will be releasing their album on April 17 [...]

Bang on the money this week: gin in hand, more snow outside, Andy Williams is playing… You know that feeling (maybe?) that you just want something to dance to that your Dad used to play on vinyl when you were small… I still have the moves, Pops: Can't Take My Eyes Off You , followed by a bit of Moon River . Anyway, enough of that. You can just hear that needle ripping across the record… focus, focus. This week I'm enjoying Cate Le Bon's Puts Me [...]

While I respect Beyonce , I never have quite been a fan of music. Just not for me, but I'm always welcome to some interesting covers that artists do. And we have a good example of a cover done well by Chairlift and Kool AD of Das Racist fame. Check this live sesh below. Via Pigeons & Planes Fresh? [...]

Yeah Yeah Yeahs need to do something new! It's been too long since they've released a new album. The Karen O appearance on the track with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross held me over for a little bit, but it's not enough. "Y-Control" is probably my favorite track from the YYY's and the video is some sick shit. We have Spike Jonze to thank for this one, once again. Little kids and dead dogs. Perfect for some Friday enjoyment. YEAH YEAH YEAHS - Y-CONTROL

Chicago quartet, Maps & Atlases, have announced their newest album, Beware and Be Grateful , to drop on April 17th in the US. The band has made one of the tracks off the album available for free download via Rolling Stone . Lyrically, "Winter" might not bring the hopefulness of spring, but it in no way lacks rhythmic exuberance. You can download "Winter" for free here and watch the trailer for Beware and Be Grateful below. Connect with Maps & Atlases : Facebook [...]

Dig Your Grave is the title of a new 73 EP from The Pharmacy which is as good an example of indie-pop-garage bliss as you'll find. We included the title track in our January Best of the Month mix. Here is the equally good video for it - a super 8 mess of violence, fire and (what else) graveyards. a Buy it here . Or limited edition colour vinyl from Kind Turkey Records here . Download via iTunes [...]

Willy Moon has been busy in the studio writing and recording new WORD material and Wu Tang CDs have obviously played a part of the studio atmosphere given this new free download available this week. Wu Tang Clan's 'Ain't Nuthing Ta Fuck Wit' has been introduced into a gritty alternative rock rendition... Check it.
North London's Daughter consists of lena Tonra, Igor Haefeli & Remi Aguilella. The group released two quality EPs in 2011, including The Wild Youth EP, which was released last October. "Youth" and "Home" (not to be confused with the two Foxes tracks we posted recently) are both excellent examples of the superb folk music created by the trio. Listen to both tracks below. I heard this song on the radio this day and thought it sounded good enough on the crappy little thing to warrant Googling. Christ, was I right! It's by Poliça, a relatively new band from Minneapolis who's debut album Give You The Ghost is just about to come out in the States. It's a four piece with a pedigree, featuring Gayngs frontman Ryan Olson as well as Marijuana Deathsquads' drummer Ben Ivascu. The vocals are provided by Channy Casselle, who used to be in Roma di Luna. Enough about them though, because that's all stuff you can read [...]

The enchanting Anna Calvi stopped by for a Daytrotter Session which you can hear in full , Anna continues to set the bar extremely high for these newer acts. Stream the entire set below. Set List Wolf Like Me Love Won't Be Leaving Suzanne & I Rider To The Sea

We've made our love of the LA label Brainfeeder's roster pretty evident over the last few months - covering Teebs and Lapalux - and to make a change from all those lovely house mixes we post for you, we're ringing in the changes with a more downbeat experimental promo mix for Teebs' North American tour with Sonnymoon and Time Wharp. This mix features Teeb's amazing cover of The Byrd's 'Pretty Polly', the late Arthur Russell and that unmissable track from Four Tet, Burial and Thom Yorke 'Ego'. Perfect when you need a mellow vibe. Sonnymoon - [...]

For her new single "All Bets Are Off" , singer/songwriter Nerina Pallot once again teamed up with her husband/producer Andy Chatterley for a "We Are The Chatterleys" alternate mix. Having tried '80s disco before , this time they paid tribute to the '90s, which results in 3 minutes and 29 seconds of trip-hoppy loveliness. STREAM: Nerina Pallot - All Bets Are Off (We Are The Chatterleys Alt Mix) In other news, Nerina recently re-released her last album under a new title [...]

Just a few months after the Terrible Angels EP , French/English songstress Charlotte Gainsbourg is already back with Stage Whisper , a double-LP of live and unreleased material released via Because Music / Elektra. You might have already heard the first single "White Telephone", well here comes another song from the collection, "Paradisco", written and produced by Beck. To celebrate this release, Beatport gave producers a chance to remix "Paradisco" and maybe get their remix released on Because Music—home to the likes of Metronomy and Uffie . [...]
