![[PLAYLIST] The Best SONGS of 2012 – Part 2 (July-Dec)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4798452_lg.jpg)
Screw the Oscars! Now that the site is back up we can continue the (very late) Best of 2012 Awards! So many great songs last year. The second 6 months of jams did more than stand up to the first . So many genres colliding in this list. Beautiful songs. Funny songs. Innovative songs. Simple songs. Dance songs. Rock songs. All songs that have spent much time wedged in the recesses of my brain. Ultimately its Kids of 88 and Years and Years battling it out for the top spot. Two songs I would [...]

Words: Alison Potter, Emily Solan, Howard Gorman, Rajan Lakhani, Raman K, Saam Das, and Simon Opie 2012. The year that guitar music died. The year that hip hop died. The year that dubstep died. No. None of these things happened. 2012 was as healthy a year for music as any. At FADED GLAMOUR , we picked some of our favourite albums of 2012 and put them together in a list of 25 below. Pop, R&B, hip hop and yes, even guitar music [...]

Check them out below and there's featured tracks from each album in a SoundCloud & Rdio playlist at the end of the post. -------- Breton - Other Peoples Problems -------- Jessie Ware - Devotion -------- Frank Ocean - [...]

Thanks To Camilo for this great artwork. Looking back at 2012, there were plenty of albums that I loved. Was it the best year of music in recent memory? Maybe not, but it was a damn good year in its own right. There is a lot that we may look back on and remember well into the rest of the decade. This year I listed my Top 40 albums, as well as a few honorable mentions that were as close to making my list as they come. I didn't get to listen [...]
We've gone over the biggest artists, albums, and tracks of 2012, but our end of the year roundup really wouldn't be complete unless we talked about our own favorites from this year. These are the songs that made us feel, gave us chills, made us party, and made us cry. You'd probably find these tracks with high play counts in our music libraries and dripping with nostalgia if you make us talk about them further. Amanda [...]
2012 will probably be looked back upon as a year of great music ups and downs, with comebacks from the masters of indie rock Bloc Party and electro pop goddess Marina and the Diamonds and also countless new talent bursting onto the scene such as Jessie Ware, AlunaGeorge, Theme Park, to name a few. All that was of course tinged by the large number or great and influential artists and musicians that we lost this year among them of course Whitney Houston, Adam Yauch, Donna Summer and Etta James, they may be gone but they've left a vast musical legacy [...]

The year 2012 was supposed to bring about 'the end of the world'. But here we are compiling 'best of' lists as if it were 2011 or 2010 or any other year from when blogging started. For me it was a big year with my new job travelling to remote Australia, and some pretty crazy stuff happened out there. On Christmas Island the craziness was the wild chickens and many nervous crabs, along with the locals who choose to live somewhere both remote and expensive. There was Darwin, a beautiful developing city, with an odd aggressiveness to it which [...]

ILLUSTRATION BY LYDIA CONKLIN 2012 was a spectacular year in music - one with so many records we truly loved that narrowing down the list was difficult. Ordering it, however, was almost impossible. This was a year of shifting genres and experimentation. This was a year that introduced us to some bands that will remain on rotation for years to come and albums that are already on their way to becoming modern classics. Along with the return of many favorites, we were given the debuts from Django Django , Alt J , Frank Ocean , [...]
It's that time at last! Triple J Hottest 100 voting has opened. For those that don't let their musical intelligence be insulted by Triple J, this year promises to be another hard slog at getting those 10 tracks perfectly right, so that you can just tick them off as they come up one by one on the 26th January. Well... at least that's what it used to be like. It's been only 10 years ago now, that Queens of the Stone Age held the number 1 spot with their mental track "No One Knows", and only five years [...]
