The weather is finally warming up all across the country. Summer is right around the corner. With the season of sunshine comes the season of music festivals-my favorite reason for loving the season. Many of the music festival attendees' musical horizons are expanded, or at least mine always is. Last summer, I went to the Virgin Mobile FreeFest at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, which is where I saw Yeasayer live. They were amazing. Yeasayer is an experimental rock band based out of Brooklyn, whose 2009 album, Odd Blood , features tracks that not only exhibit great [...]

This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can't get [...]

Yep, we played another epic game of King Of The Mountains with Our Society's 21 Collective Most Awesomest Albums of 2010 and Yeasayer was the last man standing! I'm so glad because I feel I mistakenly left them out of my own 2010 list Oh man... so good. .

I might complain about the amount of shite that gets sent to me, but I do equally gush when something magical turns up in my inbox, as I'm sure you know already if you've been reading this for more than a week. Nick, the dude in charge of Bravestation sent me their music almost a month ago now and I let it sit (don't ask me why) until now. The band is a four-piece from Toronto, Canada and have recently released their second EP titled "20103. Even though this is an "Introducing" piece they've had a decent amount [...]

So yeah, Yeasayer do freaking fu*king videos if you didn't know. Remember 'Ambling Alp' ? This one is equally as messed up. Featuring the lovely Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell), you can check it out below....

In case you didn't know, the music industry is currently under overhaul. With the recently new factor online music now plays and how readily available illegal music is, people in the industry have had to rethink their entire market structure. Tons of new strategies have been employed including "organic" grassroots fan bases, a return to vinyl, and LEGAL free music. Ever since Radiohead released "In Rainbows" with the option of zero pounds, the trend of free music has seen exponential growth. Whether you want to call it a "bait-and-switch" or a way to build trust with a potential [...]
This week's PVS was recommended to me by the incomparable Lee Levin (the one who writes for the site. THIS SITE!). It's a very well-shot* video of KR favorites Wakey!Wakey! piling into a Brooklyn loft and covering Yeasayer's "Ambling Alp." The coolest thing about the video, besides the violin part that pretty much ties the song together, is probably the cavalcade of super-hip dudes and dudettes singing background vocals on the chorus. It gives off this very community-esque, beard-esque vibe that the camera captures nicely. And the cover itself is good. Obviously. It's two good bands crossing the [...]
Directed by Radical FriendOK, so from beginning to end I didn't really dig on Yeasayer's new album, but the singles are still pretty amazing. "O.N.E." has got some serious new wave undertones, and this video magnifies them ten times; portraying what someone coming of age in '85 would assume the future would be--or something like that. This is supposed to be "futuristic," isn't it? This isn't just

Yeasayer have premiered the music video for " O.N.E. ". The track is off their latest album, ' Odd Blood ', out now via Secretly Canadian . The video was directed by Radical Friend , who also directed the band's video for " Ambling Alp " Watch the video below. Yeasayer
No more exclusivity POPJUSTICE . Yeasayer's video for O.N.E. is free and alive. Thank you.

So this remix of Yeasayer 's anthem "Ambling Alp" is the only one I've found to be worthy of the genius of the original track, which makes perfect sense as everything The Very Best touch turns to gold. It's been floating around for a while, but is still worth mentioning. I'm very excited to be catching them when they grace DC next Sunday along with Ninjasonik and Tabi Bonney (crazy line-up!). Yeasayer - [...]
Yeasayer performed "Ambling Alp" live on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on 2/10.

yeasayer - amblingalp (the very best remix) Yeasayer is a group that I recently started listening to their song "Ambling Alp" and sure enough I immediately see a Very Best remix soon afterward. In the Very Best's version, I have not a clue what he is saying but he makes it sound as good as the [...]
I would like to begin by saying this album gets progressively more difficult to review every time I return to it. It isn't a bad album. In fact, it's a very good album. In a daring shift from their strong analog aesthetics on All Hour Cymbals, Yeasayer has embraced an almost entirely synthetic sound on [...]
