So. Another week, and another celebratory Fleetwood Mac tribute comp . Though this time out it's fusty dad-rag MOJO who've brought together the likes of Julia Holter, The Besnard Lakes, and Yeasayer for a rather more provocative, sticky front-of-mag release. One of the plethora of perky joys afforded the latter-day journo is the transatlantic call. Next year, Yeasayer's Anand Wilder, Suckers' Austin Fisher, Delicate Steve's Steve Marion and producer Al Carlson will put out a record as Seltzer Boys, a project borne of the group's one-time live collaboration during a December 2011 stop at NYC experimental venue the Stone. In attendance happened to be pro snowboarder Lukas Huffman, who was so inspired by the project - even tracking down a live bootleg of the gig - that he came out of retirement to launch a video series called Snow Craft . In the series, Huffman depicts artisan snowboarders around the world and their adventures [...]

Some of you may remember the month of February, which was about eight months ago. Yeasayer is one of those bands that relishes in its oddities, embracing the weird and creating wholly unique psychedelic music. Drawing influences from genres and styles from around the world, the Brooklyn outfit can be hard to define, but that is what makes them so good. Like Neon Indian before them, Yeasayer arrived at Jimmy Fallon's 30 Rockefeller studio with a relatively elaborate stage rig designed in conjunction with the Creators Project . It involves a number of fragmented mirrors, with lights and projections that sync to Chris Keating's MPC unit, and yet that isn't even the best addition to Yeasayer's live thing; that would be drummer Cale Parks, formerly of Aloha / BRAHMS / himself , who replaces the erstwhile, formidable percussion section of Ahmed Gallab and JayTram (both now of Sinkane ) with his own brand of polyrhythmic electro-pop [...]

Since last summer, our Amrit Singh has been putting together an independent short film called Dosa Hunt , with Das Racist's Himanshu Suri and Ashok Kondabolu, Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, Yeasayer's Anand Wilder, Neon Indian's Alan Palomo, and NYC jazz stalwart Vijay Iyer. It chronicles a day spent by the group in pursuit of NYC's finest version of South Indian staple dish, dosa.
