Tweet I've never been impacted by a song as much as I was the first time I heard " Worlds Apart ." I had a job just out of high school that had me flying back and forth between Indiana and Washington D.C. each week. I would go out every night and just have my mid-west mind nearly in shock by the amount of incredible music to be seen live and found in the numerous mom-and-pop vinyl shops. For the first time in my life I wasn't relying [...]

We've got a whole load of contributors - writers, photographers, and miscellaneous behind-the-scenes types - that help keep Thrash Hits running smoothly, and the albums [...]

Raziq Rauf likes metal. Raziq Rauf likes prog. Raziq Rauf likes the internet. Here are his Top 10 Records of 2011.

SINGLES: Lets kick this Month's Crop of manly Movember single reviews with South London's lively band called Dead Social Club . Despite the mention of a Jeffrey on the self titled song from EP 'Syrian Kisses' it is not a reference to all inclusive recreational joint from Take Me To The Greek with P-Diddy. This is classic Brit electronic indie rock mixing all of the glorious warehouse vibes into one head bopping tune via their 6 piece ensemble. Syrian Kisses MP3 by Dead Social Club [...]

We had a couple of Scots in a row there, so time to check in on some friends from across the pond again. I've sort of lost track of ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead as time has gone on. I'll always pick up a new album they release, but often they get listened to a couple of times and forgotten about a bit. I do regularly go back to their first few though. I have a weirdly vivid memory of buying the debut album, on vinyl, in the record shop that used to [...]

![[Listen] – Alex Drumm – "Empty Rooms"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3755925_lg.jpg)
Tweet Great songs are often either nostalgic or saturated by sadness, the greatest are both. Sure that's a biased opinion but I stand behind it. There isn't a more valid and real feeling than nostalgia or sadness, it captures us, breaks us down, it is the music we connect with in those moments that is the most important. Sure going out and having a solid mix to keep things upbeat, to work as a soundtrack for our good time, is enjoyable but those songs [...]

Chaotic and brilliant umpteenth EP from Austin, Texas-based punk/shoegaze cyborgs Ringo Deathstarr , perhaps the most dangerous band in American indie rock these days. The title track to Shadow features guest hollering from ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead 's Jason Reece (as we reported here earlier this month) paired with bassist Alex Gehring's always affecting, breathy murmur. "Shadow" touts heavier mechanical rhythm tracks as well, and in tandem with Reece's gut-punching vocals the tune may be the most delightfully heavy thing the Texas trio has recorded. Three additional songs [...]
If my top songs of the year have any indication of anything, it's been an interesting and eclectic year for music. Many of the biggest artists in music released albums in the first part of this year, which has made it one of the most exciting starts to a year I can think of in [...]
Depois de não entender direito o conceito do projeto Undercover, do AV Club , o ...And tou Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead acabou decidindo no último momento que a música Blood And Fire das Indigo Girls , era a melhor da lista para eles fazerem a versão. Por mais diferente que possa parecer uma banda de post-hardcore gravando um cover de folk, o vocalista Conrad Keely afirmou que ele costumava usar essa música como uma forma de se aprender a cantar, e por isso decidiu fazer o [...]
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead covers The Indigo Girls

Austin band ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead have lost some members, 3 of 5 to be exact, and are down to one (new) drummer. The replacement players are slicker and more facile than the departed members, and everyone certainly played with plenty of passion, but the change left the band feeling more like just another emo project among the anonymous masses at a Warped Tour stop than the scintillating, cohesive and original powerhouse that produced Source Tags and Codes in 2002 and Worlds Apart in 2005. It's a full-up Friday: ► U2 . The scrappy band from Ireland. Angel Stadium. ► The Wooden Birds , the latest project from American Analog Set's Andrew Kenny, bring something of an all-star lineup to the Echo for a show in support of their new album "Two Matchsticks." Kenny's lineup is populated by three members of Matt Pond PA (Pond himself, Leslie Sisson and Chris Haskins), along with drummer Sean Haskins. The early show also has two great L.A. support acts, A House For Lions and Daniel Ahearn . [...]
It's been almost a decade since And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead were anointed rock gods, their third album "Source Tags & Codes" earning a very-hard-to-argue 10 out of 10 from Pitchfork, whose review promised listeners "you will never, ever be the same." It's been that way for the band too — four more albums of hits and misses, a shifting lineup around principals Conrad Keely and Jason Reece, a departure from Interscope to do things on their own. Trail of Dead's 2009 indie release "The Century of Self" didn't exactly inspire further hero [...]

Among the dates announced are shows in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Trail of Dead are also set to appear on Lopez Tonight on June 14th. The band are set to perform their new single " Weight of the Sun " on the show. Check out all tour dates [...]

Seems that spring is a good time for those sprawling multi-venue potpourri festivals that celebrate the oft-overlooked fresh faces as much as they do the more established acts. Since March, we've already seen the Texan behemoth SXSW roll out another endless line-up of live music, and here on our own turf both Brighton's Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City have applied the same formula in their promotion of new music in the past month. Over the course of the bank holiday weekend though, this concept gets expanded as the annual Dot to Dot hosts it's hectic venue-hopping one-day party in [...]
