Animal Collective has released their ninth studio recording. I don't necessarily feel like the most qualified person to be typing about this band/musical collective, because I haven't followed their career trajectory very closely. I'm mostly familiar with the more well known tracks on Merriweather and some of the earlier stuff, like Danse Manatee and Spirit They're Gone... This album is full of fun oddities. Akin to the effects of strobe lights on your ocular senses, it is an in-your-face sound blitz on ones audible capacity.

As it turns out, they've now tweaked that cover art, doing a different variation that's not quite as ugly. (It's still definitively ugly, though, so don't worry.)
