Caspian - Waking Season Caspain were one of many groups to form in the wake of early '00s post-rock successes like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and EITS, who proved to many aspiring rock groups that indulging in epic songwriting tendencies was neither inaccessible, nor over-indulgent. Not having to find a singer to achieve wide appeal was another plus. Unlike many other admirable [...]

Animal Collective have released the official video for "Today's Supernatural", the first single from their upcoming album, Centipede Hz. Featuring a solo Avey Tare, the video appears to have the highest budget ever for an Animal Collective video and is weird to say the least. In this inaugural edition of Video Science Theater, [...]

Like Panda Bear? Great. Enjoy psychedelics? Even better, if you intend on watching this video. If Lennox's songs weren't already enough of a mind trip, Danny Perez turned in a music video for "You Can Count on Me" that seems designed for a certain kind of consumption

Panda Bear, aka Noah Lennox of Animal Collective, is due to release his third solo album Tomboy this September. This coming Tuesday is set to see the release of the first single from the album, the title track "Tomboy" on 73 single with the b-side "Slow Motion." Due to some of the singles being shipped early, mp3 vinyl rips of the tracks have found their way on to the internet and you can check them both out below. MP3: Panda Bear - "Tomboy" MP3: [...]
Another track from Merriweather Post Pavilion gets the video treatment, this time it's "Guys Eyes." The video is directed by Joey Gallagher.

Earlier this year, Panda Bear, band member and solo artist in his own right, collaborated with Pantha du Prince on the track "Stick to My Side" from Pantha's highly-acclaimed album, Black Noise , which we "recommended" earlier this year. Now, you can hear the whole gang on this dreamy, Animal Collectivized version of the song, "Welt Am Draht". There is speculation that Deakin, the "animal" that's been missing from the collective for a while, helped contribute to the remix. Alas, it is only speculation. Check it out at Gorilla vs. Bear , where [...]

Via Ramin Ton : On January 15th Panda Bear from Animal Collective played a show with Pantha du Prince at Hebbel Am Ufer. And it was all new material, most likely from the upcoming record (except for Daily Routine). He played guitar on many songs which I’ve never seen before. The recording isn’t too good because the bass was too load for recording. Yet the sound is good enough to listen to it, to get the feeling and even understand the words. I recorded Pantha du Prince too, but the [...]

A new Animal Collective video, then, eh? If you were expecting something ironic (the band standing there pressing buttons on a loop machine and mouthing the words, or something similarly boring) then you'll be displeased. For the "Brother Sport" clip is as absurdly psychedelic as the previous three videos released from 2009's behemoth Merriweather Post Pavilion . It's got dogs, animation, eggs, loads of paint, and possibly the two coolest kids ever born. Enjoy.
Do we really need to construct an after-the-fact recap when we were writing and checking in live from Pitchfork all weekend? Probably not, but here's a few things. from tacosnachosburritos
